My concern with Gwayne's is it will conflict with our eventual oaths to our husband, since I know we are never going to become monogamous with any man.

Then we have Raylon's he means well, but it is a step towards the path of a tyrant, or at least a step away from duty to those not yourself.

This is why I believe the most interesting lesson is that of the Knights'. A medium between one that does continue on the path of an idealized knight but one not so stuck with keeping to oaths in their exactitude for it is your deeds, actions, not your words that define you. There is still some flexibility there, but certainly a respect of what a knight is and whom and what their duty is for and too.

Don't know which option would be best for the Dance, but honor feels the most in-character.
 
I picked the knights because I think the character's belief in knighthood as a goal is quite central to her. What's the point of seeking it if we don't believe in it? We'll have to deal with honorless knights existing at some point but I think that can wait. For now, a knight's answer to a knight's problem is what I was looking for.

As for the traitors... Those people aren't the main cause of the rebellion, they're just the idiots too stupid to leave him to dry when it was clearly lost. We executed the main rebel already. We got our pound of flesh and first blood.

A life of freezing your ass off on the wall seems like a fair reward for idiocy. I'm not worried about securing repentance because they'll be so far away it won't matter, and any of the supporter with a real power base already deserted this plot anyway.
 
Well, I love honor but it is always good to have a good dose of pragmatism...

I'll admit I'm choosing the Vale Knights' advice because it mentions the commoners, and caring for the peasants- even in a paternalistic manner that reinforces social stratification- is something I'd rather like Rhaenyra to have.

i like the idea of Rhaenyra deliberately leaning into her mom's cultural ideas of knighthood, it's a very sweet way to try and connect with her memory.
and pragmatically, Rhaenyra was already known for standing up for "the little guy" from getting into fights with boys her age over them harassing the female servants. extending that attitude to the common ppl in general is a good idea to me.

Rhaenyra connecting with the Knightly-conduct of her Mother's homeland sounds sooo wholesome.

Where Knights from other Kingdoms mostly become such for the sake of personal glory, in the Vale there is the duty of protecting Smallfolk from Mountain clans raids.

Something I can see would serve as a comparison point between her and her auncle. Where he seeks personal glory even when disguised as glory for House Targaryen, Rhaenyra has proved time and time again she doesn't care for personal image if it means protecting the little men from others injustice.
