[X] Offer him a position at court so that he can stay and watch out for her.
-[X] Offer a Position in the city watch.

[X] Plan Do Both

All upsides. Westerlands have been moving in a lot since Johanna came, so having the Hightowers to balance it out will be nice.

I know Oaths are serious in Westeros, but this would really feel like a casual "nah trust me bro, it'll be fine", in response to his very accurate concerns.

If we want to make an oath how about we make it to her directly instead of telling her about the encounter after the fact?

Like sure, very romantic, I voted for it in chargen, but come on, we can kill two birds with one stone here.

We're gonna protect and romance Alicent irregardless, but opportunities to gather a base of support don't offer themselves up to us every day.

And our oath doesn't actually provide concrete protection beyond Rhaenyras personal involvement.

Also Rhaenyra has shown to be distrustful of the Oaths the Lords sworn in, putting Gwayny in a similar position of " Trust me" while doing nothing feels wrong.

Yeah, and I would like having Gwayne around more, even if I don't think Rhaenyra should marry him.

I like the very casual way he brings up the obvious threat that is Daemon and Johanna's son, as well as the immediate connect to his sister having a crush on us based on letters. Just enjoy the snarky matter of fact energy he offers.

tbh low-key sounds like he'd be a good advisor, probably better than his own dad at it lol

Just spit facts at Rhaenyra every once in a while

Are the people voting on both options of City Watch and Oath without the plan, doing so because they want one of it to win and don't care which one does or do they want both to win as a single action?

Operation Yoink the Hightower(s) is a go?

Well, as far as truth to our character goes, one of our Ambitions is to get on the Small Council, and the best route we've seen so far to fulfill that runs through getting a position in the Watch for ourselves and rising from there to Lady Commander. Getting an ally in the Watch facilitates that Ambition—and it's not like Gwayne's mere presence in the hierarchy would crowd us out. There is more than one command position available, surely.
There's one Captain position for each gate and then one overall Commander. I'd presume that we would get Gwayne one of the captaincies.

So I updated things. We are now considered a skilled Dragon Rider, not on the same level as Daemon or Rhaenys but our strengthened bond with Syrax is helping a good deal.

We desperately need allies and if yall insist on going for Allicent then you'll need a beard as well. This gives you the reach, the Hand, and the beard all at once.

Well, there is an almost perfect split between the City Guard Capitancy and the Oath with a few of us who want to take both...

A certainly interesting result...

I wish that more people were willing to vote for the [] Plan Do Both though, especially seeing how many people are approval voting for both of the leading options...

While he does know Alicent's feelings on the matter and doesn't seem to disapprove as much as most, it still feels like a tall ask to tell our husband to look away as we're with his sister.

Not to mention the need of kids, and while Alicent can maybe understand that with most suitors, it's another big ask to tell her to look away as we're with her brother.

And the Reach is already very possible to get in the bag without marrying Gwayne. Without a royal marriage, and with both of his kids getting sponsorships from Rhaenyra, Otto has a lot of incentive to side with us over Johanna anyway. And he'll never side with Daemon.

Going by both canons there are insistances of a Sibling acting as a beard for their brother/sister's relationship both working (Show wise, Margarey was perfectly fine with Loras and Renly's relationship.) and going horrifically wrong (Androw Farman)
