Loyalty is its own Reward (A Traitor Legion Chapter Master Quest)

Okay, what are we good at?

Space Marines in general are always a high concentration of force, so breaking through to the Palace is a viable use.
We in particular are also stealthy, so sabotage, assassination and scouting are good to go.

Everything else is not in our taskset. A Space Marine defending territory is barely better at doing so than a regular human fireteam with a heavy weapon.

Who defends everything defends nothing.

I believe it's better to leverage our forces and advantages by focusing on scouting, sabotage and assassination. That should weaken the Cult enough for the regular forces to dispatch them.

We aren't Imperial Fists or Ultramarines.
Better to play to our strengths and exploit our enemies' weaknesses. Those being their limited equipment and their dependency on their leadership.

Succeding in those tasks should increase the rolls needed for the Cult to win. Focusing on them means we are more likely to succeed, because we need fewer successes.

Garrison isn't "plop them in one place and have them shoot approaching enemies". Their job in that case is primarily anti-subterfuge, which is something that regular mortals are objectively way worse at than Mist Shrikes. When used in a garrison, they'll be the most rapid of rapid response forces and the best detector of enemy infiltration, which is the main way which Genestealers try to do shit when they don't want to spam hybrid charges.

Also keep in mind that presently we don't have access to a win condition. Unless the Patriarch is slain, the enemy will just keep coming until their army is completely exterminated, and we don't know where said Patriarch is. Until we do, preserving overall military strength is important to keep the Cult from grinding through the defenders, hence the garrisons.

The plan that does that has zero allocations of where to sent the Sister of Battles.

-[X] Breach the Lord Sector Palace Siege

Chapter Master Severus, Master of the Forge Karark Zel, Chief Apothecary Valzadai, 3rd Company, 2 Razorbacks, 4 Rhinos, 3 Thunderhawks, Order of the Thorned Spear.

Just to note everyone that the Nuns with guns and flamethrowers are allocated to breaking the Siege in my plan.

[X] Plan: Hammer and Knife

Honestly, mopping up the mass of cultists is not a useful way to spend our forces.
Once the palast is secured and a semblance of order under the Lord Sector is restored, the present forces should be able to do that with relative ease.
Genestealer cultists with no heavy assets shouldn't win a fair battle, nevermind an unfair one after we took out the commanders.

Could we add at least one spacemarine to commanders in this operation as bodyguards and "bodyguard" ( Just in case they do not make anything foolish)?

I think killing Imperial Officers without extremely substantial evidence is something we should try to avoid unless we want a lot of eyes watching our Chapter (who are definitely Raven Guard and not Night Lords! Why would you ask such a thing?)

Damn that's a lot of shinies. Too bad we can't nick a few like the Blood Ravens.

Maybe we could ask nicely after earning a few favors ?

[X] Plan: Hammer and Knife

Edit: Tomb-Captain Sertorius has been reassigned to Break the Siege. His inclusion in the covert force was an error in my part and has been rectified.
Just a heads up to anyone if it would affect their vote. A Dreadnought sneaking around conducting covert ops, while funny, would probably be more useful breaking the Siege.

Two genestealer Cultists: Crit fail their perception rolls.
A dreadnought loudly stomps behind, shoots his assault cannon full-auto, reducing the cult Magus to a pool of gore, and leaves stomping just as loudly.

Two genestealer Cultists: Must have been the wind.

@lizatessu @wabbitking Currently the vote is looking to be a close one between Plan Show No Weakness and Plan Hammer and Knife. If you want to go for a plan more similar to Plan First Draft, I'd recommend changing your vote to Plan Show No Weakness

Edit: @KobegRex I guess the same applies to you actually, though you didn't use the brackets to have your vote counted.
