Loyalty is its own Reward (A Traitor Legion Chapter Master Quest)

Nurgle has decided to grant me one of his "gifts"
A quick recovery to you!

Cult of the Savior Emperor
#> Cult of the Four-armed Emperor, unless the GS decided to switch sides

10th Company Marine Intelligence roll 4d10 (SC 3)= 10, 10, 10, 10= 8 Successes, critical Success, Extreme success
Our best roll so far.

RIP Flavius, Rimor.
Marshall Teodorico was next to useless, lol. Not really suprising after we got to know his overly brash attitude in the planning conference.
And I feel once again the need to lobby to assign our next Iron Halo batch to our GC Veterans.

Q.M notes: Sorry for the delay people, but things have been busy and Nurgle has decided to grant me one of his "gifts".
Get well soon and thanks for the update.

Always a treat to read.

-The cult has managed to blow up one of the main crossroads of the megarrail network, reducing the logistical means of the Imperial forces. Next phase, less PDF forces will be available for Middle levels and Underhive actions.
Unfortunate. But them's the breaks.

Drawing this out might not be in our favor, since reinforcements will be reduced. PDF is useless though, so there's that.

-Notable gained, Brother Mikhail (+Intelligence, Focused)
Nice. Always great to get a new named character.
Mikhail the Feaster?

-Location of the Patriarch unlocked, new actions gained.
Our intelligence and scouting rolls have been absolutely phenomenal. We can either aim for a quick decapitation strike or use the intel to tear down their units in the Middle Hive and continue from there with our full force.

Doing both isn't advisable imo.

Teodorico dying as he lived. Utterly useless.

Well, I'm in favour of all 10th Company assets, plus Gregori being dedicated to killing the Patriarch. If we want to end this with any speed we need to cut the head off of this snake.
I'm not opposed to a decap, but it's going to be highly dependent on whether or not we can wrangle the rest of our allies into forming effective cordons around the location. We've already seen the 5-6 dice fuckery high-tier Genies can do, a Broodlord is easily going to just run for it if we can't lock/bog it down.

Its also not quite clear what's happening with the rest of the planet. I think the fighting is focused on the capital hive, but that isn't really clear.

Our boy Mikhail did very well there. We should give him a promotion.

Also, I expected our Chief Librarian to have taken the lead in this campaign, having previous experience with the Nids. I guess it could be argued that he was busy doing whatever Chief Librarians do. But great to see him finally in action. The jedi mindcontrol stuff was spooky.

[X] Plan WHERE'S OUR FIRE SUPPORT?!
-[X] Go: Squads 3-7 and 3-9, Severus, Honour Guard, Spatha, Husnik, Retributor Squad, 2 Penitent Engines, Palatine Riona, 1 Thunderhawk
--[X] Politely request that General Mörner second one of his companies of Heavy Infantry (with their attendant vehicles, if any) to help clear and secure the Palace.
-[X] Stay: Squad 3-5, 1 Rhino, 1 Sisters of Battle Squad, 1 Repentia Squad
--[X] Take a moment before leaving to coordinate with the Arbites and make sure the other commanders know who is in command of their detachment following the death of Marshall Alvaro Teodorico. Before we leave, and if Severus has overall command of the assault at this point, officially hand off command of the battle to General Felix Mörner

Basically the way I see it is that Squad 3-7, the Honour Guard, Spatha, Severus, and Riona put together make up a very solid melee force, but we don't know if the Genestealer Cult has got vehicles or massive hordes in the palace, so just in case, I'm taking some chaff clearing and anti-armor folks along for the ride, that being the Penitent Engines, Squad 3-9, and the Retributors

Also, 3-7 has synergy with the Thunderhawk as both are flying units and can work together on the same target, which will be very helpful in removing the enemy from advantageous terrain. It also frees up more transport capacity, as 3-7 can just fly on their own rather than needing to take up room on the Thunderhawk.

Obviously the write-in stuff is taken from CanYouMeme

Thinking about this more, would Karark Zel be able to move here and fix the damage?
Probably not in the timeframe we're dealing with here. Great Crusade-era knowledge base or no, he's still only one man. This seems like something you need a full construction or combat engineering team to fix. Fortunately, in a Hive World like this, sufficient individuals matching that description should be obtainable. That's probably why the description says that we'll have fewer PDF reinforcements next phase instead of for the rest of the campaign.

Speaking of next phase, I'm thinking we play things a lot more defensively next deployment. That way we can keep the Cult from taking advantage of the PDF's weakness in the Middle Hive. Moreover, we can hopefully ambush the enemy Reductor Saboteurs and Sanctus Assassin. The GC live and die by their hero units, and killing these should do wonders for making our rear areas more secure.

I think this level of defensiveness is fine personally. 5 or 6 Squads of Sisters and Shrikes taking out Cultist bases and major figures is enough while the remaining ones protect the middle levels and key facilities.

On another note... @ThunderOwl Did Karark Zel manage to do anything of note during his stay at the local armories?

Our chapter doesn't seem to use jump packs all that much. Is it because they are loud and not stealthy enough ?
If the mutants have hoped to stop your momentum with that, their hopes are quickly dashed. The assault marines jump-packs roar as they are propelled through the air until they fall like a hammer blow amidst the cultist lines, cutting them down with their chainswords.
When we were breaking through the genestealer encirclement.
