A Reforged World (NO SV, You are King of Italy, in a Greatly Changed World)

*reads the Update*

*sits down with the tranquil calm you only get from being ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS*

*takes a deep breath*

...Frankfurt will be remembered. That, on my Hessian heart, I promise you, fair city.

And as for France...

"By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem who said, 'Raze it, raze it, even to the foundation. O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed. Happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones'."
-Psalm 137

(Note: No, I do not condone rape, mass slaughter or child murder done by our forces if and when we take France. I don't think we an realistically stop those things from happening, given the time period, but we should try to minimize it.)

I will not rest until Protestant France lies in ruins, until their King is dead and until Justice, in all it's beauty and horror, is done in full.
That. I. Swear.

Hey look on the bright side.

The hessians have decided that it's time to fuck France in particular this time, with a mad lad false emperor to boot.

Considering this one is a guy who decided he follows the Bible then his ego… he might actually be a good one.

Though in saying that. Go Gotz. You may be Germanys only hope.

Justice will come for France… and it's mad pope king.

We can only hope that the French people do t suffer to greatly as the kingdom falls apart.

But if the French win… I am prepared for such a thing.

Once the so called "Pope King" and his delusional ambitions are crushed i'm willing to bet he'll be remembered as one of the most infamous leaders in history.

Even worse than the Sun King.

I honestly feel really sorry for Luther right now.

Keep in mind: He never intended ANY of this. Heck, he wasn't even trying to split the Church! Literally all he did was say: "You know, some things in the Church aren't really in line with what the Bible teaches us, maybe we should look that over and see if we can fix it."

He absolutely did not want some nutjob King to go full Aerys II. and start a path of murderous conquest.
It's REALLY not his fault how things went, but God, how he must be blaming himself.

Are you talking about Louis IX? Which is... fair, but it's a bit of an exaggeration to say that he's an infamous leader. Overrated, yes, but infamous? Not really.
The only reason the Sun King is overrated is because he lasted so long and affected Europe both negatively and positivly because of him and his leadership of France.
It's REALLY not his fault how things went, but God, how he must be blaming himself.
Martin Luthor isn't dead, hasn't tried to kill himself, and is still translating the bible into German, despite his imprisonment.

And don't worry, the protestants that aren't batshit insane, are planning something much-needed revenge on the French for destroying their homes, especially those kids that survived Frankfurt....

And also, rescuing the man who started this movement. and the sweeds might get involved.
He absolutely did not want some nutjob King to go full Aerys II. and start a path of murderous conquest.
It's not even the fact the lad has gone full Areys the II.

He went Chralegmagne with religious fervor for the new protostant religion, decided to use it because it suited his poitical interests, and it has become an incredible tool that has pushed his armies to new heights.

Now if only he still had that one guy who could fix his army to make it actually work, and sort out his terrible logistics problems.

Oh wait. We killed him!

France is literally running off of religious fervor and just plain old ferocity at this point.

To bad that it does not match our superior firepower.

Fun Fact: Apparently he's known for having a crude sense of language..

Aka, he's the one guy who'd call someone Stupid in a "formal" essay, and would keep doing it for the rest of his life..

The French this time would've caught his anger, not other Protestants.

No what happened was our generals were right to sit and wait in fortifications.

It was like shooting fish in a barrel.
They went full Meme Imperial guard didn't they.

"Faith will see us Through"
*Things didn't work out*
"Press On!"

I have a strong suspicion other options exist in theory, just...

none in the intersection of smarts to know the reforms needed and the pull to do so without being called a heretic.

Book 4 Chapter 7: Insanity and Italian Warfare
Book 4 Chapter 7: Insanity and Italian Warfare
We Win or We Die

The French Invasion of Italy::D100 - 30 => -24

The Italian Army's Defence: D100 + 10 => 65

The Alps vs the French: D100 => 85

From the Northern Fortresses To King Luciano

We are writing this joint letter to describe the military actions of the Italian Army against the French forces coming over the Alps, on January 15th. This letter will contain details of their attacks, our defense, and the situation currently, among the generals, and my own opinions for you to mull upon.

Early in the morning, French mountaineers from Tilly's mercenary company began their ascent upon numerous fortified positions near the northern passes close to Turin's foothills. The company that had attacked us was completely unaware of our defenses, hoping that they could rest in the foothills and the valley before continuing forward, or wait for reinforcements to arrive.

We dealt with them in a skirmishline, and with our new tactics, chasing them and killing them at range, before cutting off their retreat and surrender. The Rifles made by one Gabriella Schimuchi… was quite genius, you might want to take a look at it.

They told us of horrific insanity, of a general going mad and seeking to cross the Alps as Hannibal had centuries prior.

But he did not have the will, the training, or the skills to cross the Alps in winter.

We found the army, all ten thousand bodies, with muskets, powder, and steel, frozen in the alpine passes.

We took most of them and burned them, taking the loot and supplies with us as we continued to search.

Our current predicament has created a situation that we should not take part of.

The Way to Nice, and through the Alps, are open, we can strike into the flanks of the enemy, and end this war, quickly, in a way that will be in our favor, not in the favor of the French heretic.

The options are below.

We win or we die, Your Grace.

Combined Assault,

Operation D-Day:
- Alpine Offensive
- Toulon Offensive
- (Possibly) Paris Navy Skirmish (Randino leads a force to sack Paris with the Navy)

Early in the morning, French mountaineers from Tilly's mercenary company began their accent upon numerous fortified positions near the northern passes close to Turin's foothills.
An "accent" is something you speak with. Did you mean "ascent" or "assault"?

[X] Plan Let's End This
-[X]The Alpine offensive: The Soft underbelly of the Swiss leads into the Rhine, and Southern Germany, right in the rear of the French Army and their supply lines. They will suffer from their failures to prevent such a thing. (Begin an offensive through the Alps, and into Southern Germany.

Taking out the French Fleet is a must. And with that done, I don't really see enough benefit in the Toulon Offensive as compared to the Alpine Offiensive considering the latter (at least if I'm not mistaken) aims to end the war outright, whereas the former (again, if I'm not mistaken) is only looking to eliminate French naval power, which they won't have anyway if they have no fleet. The Toulon Offensive may potentially be further rendered unnecessary depending on what exactly Charles decides to do.

Other than that, coordinating with the Germans strikes me as a good idea, especially if we do go for the Alpine Offensive since that takes us in the direction of them, and I had one Action left over, so we might as well see what the Ottomans have to say (although I still expect us to reject whatever it is they're offering).

As for Personal Actions, I can't come up with any good write-ins, so I'm going for improving our ability to manufacture our guns and Luciano's skills.

I expected it to be some colossal failure on their part.

Any YET, I failed to consider that they'd all freeze to death before even seeing our fortifications, other than the mountaineers. So yeah, the offensive could be succinctly summed up as an idiot thinking zeal is a substitute for proper weather prep, charges into the mountain only for them all to perish in the cold without as much as seeing a single Italian Soldier.:rofl::lol::rofl:

[X] Plan Let's End This

"What happened to the Italy Detachment! WHY ARE THEY MARCHING UNAPPOSED!"

"...It seems... how do I say it... We lost contact with them after they entered the Alps, seeking to replicate Hannibal's feat. And rumors suggested the whole armor froze to death before encountering Italian forces."

[X] Plan Let's End This With Fluff
-[X]The Alpine offensive: The Soft underbelly of the Swiss leads into the Rhine, and Southern Germany, right in the rear of the French Army and their supply lines. They will suffer from their failures to prevent such a thing. (Begin an offensive through the Alps, and into Southern Germany.

Same as the leading plan but replaced some of the staff buff options with fluff since the Quest is ending soon so buffing Luciano's stats isn't really needed and I want to see more Isabella and Niccolo.
