Gulltown 1:
You rode beside Daemon who was clearly not happy to be in the Vale. "I am not happy about this." He swore as he looked forward. "Two years have passed since I last saw my Lady wife, and it was nearly two years of bliss, freedom, and adventure. Yet here we are, visiting my bronze bitch."
He then saw you raise an eyebrow and he realized you were not approving. "What?"
"Who is the Bronze Bitch, and why do you hate her so much?" You signed as he quietly looked forward, not even seeing the last word.
Daemon then spoke. "I don't hate her, as much as you may think I do. I hate what she represents, the things that have chained me down."
"What do you mean?" You signed, waiting a moment as he looked back to look at you.
Daemon took a moment to look away, towards Gulltown proper. "After all the time traveling, I would have thought you would have understood." He paused. "I was forced to marry her, and I did not love her, or wish to be her husband. All it did was chain me like a slave."
"Why did your grandmother marry you to her?" You asked, though with how quickly you signed, you thought he did not see it.
"Simple, to keep me out of trouble, or court, I can't remember, all I know is that he thought I was too dangerous and needed to become useful. He thought marriage would sort it out." He chuckled. "Well fuck you grandmother, it didn't, I'm still the same."
At that, he sighed. "Sorry, you shouldn't have to listen to my spewing shit." Then he began to laugh. "Now remember your courtesies, we're going to be meeting my lady wife."
As if he was trying to prepare to meet her and die.
--------------------------------------------------------
Rhae Royce was very… pretty. In fact, when you compared to other women you met in your life, as a comparison, only your mother was far prettier. She had a mop straight… no curly red hair and wore a very…silky piece of headwear you did not know the name of to cover most of it. On her forehead was a brilliant piece of gold, looking like an old, ancient runestone that was on Royce's coat of arms and banner.
Even wearing heavy clothes on her top, and red fox fur, she looked very curvy and beautiful even. Strong and fierce were her eyes, and she was clearly… not happy to see her husband.
Daemon looked at you and signed. "See, horrible."
"She's very pretty, are you sure you are not lying, to not hurt my feelings?" You asked as you then noticed the 100 men behind her. All armed and ready for battle.
Daemon gritted his teeth as he pushed you behind him, and marched forward. "My Lady Wife?"
"Shut up Daemon." She growled as she examined you. "Your Bastard?"
Daemon's smile was gone, and he growled. "No. This is Lucien the Silent. My Ward." You saw him grip his sword and the pommel and his hand began to shake. "I thought you knew?"
"No, I didn't. I had more pressing matters to attend to. Like governing Gulltown and Runestone." She spat as you saw her look at you. "While you are off playing hedge knight with a child, who isn't even your own."
That made Daemon look cross, clearly not wishing to beat around the bush. "Yet here I am, appearing as you request." He growled."So talk, woman, tell me what you want, so I can be on my way?"
You were utterly surprised at this, how could two people, married and sworn to protect one another, be so hostile to each other? You stepped forward from behind and towards the Woman, who was confused at your… Bravery? You did not know.
"Stop you-." She demanded, as men drew steel, but instead you gave a bow as Daemon taught you. A low bow meant for the court of King's Landing.
It made her pause, whatever words she had were stuck in her throat. Behind, Daemon then chuckled. "Good one lad."
Rhae regained herself, and her anger. "So you are Lucien?" She asked.
You nodded, a smile rising on your face.
"Do you speak?" She asked.
That caused your smile to drop. You nodded no.
At that, some of her men started to laugh. "Deaf and dumb is your squire Daemon." She chuckled. "Just like you-" Daemon stepped forward, and stood face to face with his wife, men preparing to protect her.
"I can accept a lot of things from my lady wife. Plenty of things. But that boy is neither deaf nor dumb. And to call him otherwise is assonance and ignorant" He growled. "He is my squire, and you will treat him with the respect that he is entitled to as my squire."
At that Rhae went quiet, whether it was fear or realization finally dawning over her. But she remained firm towards her husband. "Come husband."
You followed them inside and felt small.
-----------------------------------------
As you sat down, Daemon and Rhae talked about the situation. "What is it really? Hilltribes? Rival neighbors? Bastard growing in your belly?"
Rhae shook her head. "You wish it was a bastard."
"Oh yes, any reason to have a nice fine divorce." Daemon shot back.
"You think I like being the joke at court?" Rhae swore. "how men think I am inadequate and a poor wife, because you go off on fleets of fancy and adventure, not even worrying that I care about you!"
"First I'm hearing about it." Daemon shot back. "You never seemed to think about this as anything other than duty?"
"Because you never wanted to actually talk!" She shot back even harder. "You always wanted to be away!"
"Because I hate it here!" Daemon shouted. "I hate the very idea that I have no choice in who I love, and who I marry!"
"I do too!" She shouted. "Yet some don't get the luxury of being able to leave when they please!"
Both seemed tired. Both seemed like they said things they wanted to say.
