But generally, I'd rather pay the party that brought dozens of expert warriors armed to the teeth on our say-so, even if their house is nicer than the other guy's.

The Karaz Ankor is already super-indebted. I like Dawi but at this point we've done enough for them.

I am absolutely appalled by the vampire sheets wave sweeping the thread. Are we going to go back to our library with our book haul and tell our librarian that we decided to give up on their sheets in favour of some dusty rags we found in a basement? Is nothing sacred? I think I'll have step away from the thread, I can't bear to look at this travesty.

(gotta say I like how the thread has easily agreed on every issue except the one that has no practical signifiance, Parkinson's law of triviality in action I suppose)

The Silk sheets are absolutely key and of great significance for Mathilde not sleeping like a some rando wizard who didn't even save on Karak let alone 2!

(That said disappointing the Librarian We is the one argument that gives me pause...)

Thinking about the sheets, if we ever want We silk we actually have to take them. In order to trigger the laws of narrative irony whereby the moment we finish putting them on the bed a runner will burst in telling us that We silk has been cracked,

[X] [MONEY] Council of Manhorak
[X] [SHEETS] Yes
[X] [ARMARIUM] Cult of Morr
[X] [SCROLLS] You
[X] [FLESH] You
[X] [RING] Take

Changing my vote on the sheets, we can always make them into an anti-vampire banner or something, but they are cool enough as a pure trophy to be worth is

Also I have to say the thread surprised me this time around, after how hard it was to get the Liber Mortis I thought for sure fear would win out on more vampire lore.

Taking the sheets is good and proper to make a nice guest room for our good friend Vlad zu Carfels. He's such a swell guy in correspondance, it'll be great to meet in person.

I'm not interested in vampire sheets, I want Vlad's sheets.

I have an easy and straightforward solution to this conundrum too.

1. Burn all our Dawi Rep and Cult favour to hire sufficient investigators and adventurers to locate and capture Vlad.

2. Burn all our College favour to hire a Ghur Magister Lord / Lady to cast an animal transformation spell to turn Vlad into a spider.

3. Now you can have silk sheets not merely owned by Vlad, but made by Vlad.

Perhaps this compromise could bring together both Pro-Sheeters and Anti-Sheeters into reconciliation and harmony:

(a) Get a vampire to bite one of the We and turn that We into a vampire.

(b) Silk produced by the Vampire-We possesses the properties of both Vampire and We.

(c) Profit!
Unfortunately, that would also lead to a net increase in the number of vampires in the world. So no dice, and no cats foe you to pet. 😾

I suspect it is because of Liber Mortis. Now thatb know we can take that lore and get something useful from it without going mad or crossing lines, cmany more people are open to the idea.

Edit:

We know exactly where Vlad is. But the moment we try ressurecting him we get dogpiled by both the Epire and the Karaz Ankor for doing simething so utterly stupid. So, still no dice and no cats. 😾

I just don't think the notes on the ring are worth it. If you have the plans to a superweapon that only works for your enemy, there's a lot of incentive to burn them so it can never be recreated. Plus, like, out and out article violations.
I just want Mathilde to look a the research notes of a genius (Vlad) studying the enchantment of another genius (Nagash) and see if she can attain greater understanding of enchantment generally. If there is nothing in them that is new to her that isn't horrible, then we lost the time we gambled reading it and should burn Vlad's research notes.

If there are new things that are useful to her, she should learn them, make a note of them and find a way to publish those things to the colleges if she can sanitise them well enough. And then burn Vlad's research notes, probably.

But... We know from the dragon mehnir that it is possible to forget your natural form, or that you ever were human.

Could that work on vampires?
Turn them into relatively harmless animals and keep them as pets.
Vampires off the streets... And onto the hamster wheels
:V
Like a good pet owner, you would never let your pet die. (because they probably will reform as humans)

I suspect the vampiric curse would carry over and twist their animal form you would probably just end up creating a whole new kind of vampiric abomination for the VC roster.
