Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
They already don't like the party, if we can make them association the party with some pleasant memories of weapon testing and shop talk they might be tempted back.

That was a nice segment. Xuan Shi asking for something, not just making a request, made me see him for a moment as a deep, dark ocean, a pool of want and water. Which is a more evocative and interesting light than I had seen him before. Combined with the pleasure at seeing LQ manage a dance without dissolving into probability, that was some good stuff.

It's a shame that LQ does not have the mentality to pull off the onee-sama big sister. Because I am getting some serious ara-ara nonsexual teasing potential out of Xiao Fen. Just with 'being friends with your White' and 'interested in how you are taking my advice' replacing 'don't look down and pretend nothing touched my arm'.

"Are you uncomfortable, junior? But we are merely trading pointers in the darkness arts, among friends. Look at this new insight I gathered from observing Meizhen's arts; the tickle shows that my domain is working. Why, look at how deeply my domain embraces Miss Bai. Truly, her spiritual defenses are without par. Incidentally, will your friend be arriving soon to escort you back to your quarters? I understand why you try to hide him from my attention, obviously my lack of Fire arts, but I'm sure your seniors wouldn't mind giving him some advice on advancing through the sect. I believe Meizhen has some insights into Earth arts-"
*can I use Vermin Annihilating Breath to kill me being in this moment /snek*

More seriously, I wonder how much of Xiao Fen's stiffness is being at a party after she not just lost but conceded her last tournament match, with her friend that she's just realizing that she doesn't know how to share with others. Less jealously, more 'I am a Xiao with a friend. I am a Xiao with a non-Bai friend. Non-Bai are at a party are going to see me with my friend, who is Not A Bai.' I doubt she cares about Liu Xin eyeing up the host.

"It is," she agreed. "Seed livestock and watch dogs, low grade stock for now. That is what would aid our arrangement the most."

"Easy enough for my Luo clan. It would be helpful if we were able to observe the event, as the Meng will," Luo Zhong replied.
I'm kinda confused what she means/ is referring to, 'seed livestock and watch dogs, low grade stock for now.'
I'm guessing Luo Zhong was asking if his uncle could attend the summit? I don't know what other event they could be talking about, nothing comes to mind.

Luo Zhong is negotiating for his uncle to attend the summit as an observer(same as the imperial dude, not supposed to interfere, but their presence also grants weight to the results), in exchange for starter herds of livestock and Red spirit hounds.

I'm guessing Ling Qi is telling Luo Zhong what she wants/can use from the Luo, while Luo Zhong is saying what they require in return.
The dialogue does seem to come out of nowhere, my first reaction was to assume i had missed a paragraph in a previous update somewhere.

But like, are they providing the livestock and Red realm spirit hounds to Ling Qi's fief then? Or to CRX, Gan and Ling Qi's fief? @yrsillar was kinda sparse on the details here...also when she said it would aid their arrangement the most, LQ made it sound as though she and Luo Zhong had an existing arrangement. What arrangement was that?

Exactly, that's why i feel like i am missing a paragraph somewhere.
I can infer what is going on, but it does feel like there is a piece missing.

[X] Invite the two along to the weapons testing, to chat with Wang Chao and Liang He.

They've been very brave going out and socializing. Now they can go somewhere more in their comfort zone.

Then, when they have relaxed and let down their guard, we shall tease them once again.

I just realized this

Could mean a puppy for Biyu!
If Biyu is getting a puppy, then

one like Yu Nuan is a better choice. Qui the thunder dog is much cuter since he can turn into dog loaf. And the best part is that Biyu already met Qui and approves of the "Storm Herding Hound Qiu" which is such a badass name along with being what the Ling clan needs, because doing any herding will likely be like herding a storm when Ling Qi's domain shenanigans encourages further shenanigans.

forgot to add my vote

I feel like people are kind of missing the

Peers might be better for her friend, and she was curious how Xiao Fen had interacted with others in the Outer Sect,

Also:

Here's a poem from another cultivation novel to make up for voting against a poetry contest:
Why settle for just that when we can have more?

[X] Invite the two along to the poetry reading and bring them into contact with Gan's group.

I took that sudden grating straightforwardness as Luo's preferred nature (aggressive and transactional) in LQ's preferred context with it (get it over with and back to party asap).
