I wonder if we should get two extra flicker-swords, one for us to practice with, and one for Eike? Assuming we want to teach her swording, anyway.

Before we think too hard on buying swords and who controlled the EIC let's get to know our new duckling first. Maybe she wants a hammer? Or an axe ( she did get one from beleghar) and maybe she is really hot for heading the EIC or not. Let's find out some things first before we storm down kraggs door.

Kazrick gave her the axe, not Belegar.

I agree—let's see what type of wizard she wants to be before we start getting runic items commissioned for her.

Right, one of the dwarfs. Hard enough to remember who at some points.

But yeah, let's see what she's like and then we can throw magical items of incomprehensible might at her. Or a grounding rod. I think a grounding rod might be good...

There's a lot of extremely rapid visual and proprioceptive calculations that need to be done to catch something, and yet it's extremely simple for most people to do. Mathilde is arguing that by making a Wind part of themselves, human Wizards make their ability to wield it as innate as their ability to catch an olive.
You know, thinking about this.

This is essentially the insanely difficult to determine and optimize digitally ability to identify a target and put a projectile into the target. Even with modern computation it STILL only really works with a target that has reasonable clearance from its surroundings and at a temperature/velocity that really sticks out.

But a human can still hit aircraft with a weapon that doesn't even have that much precision across that range, if not very efficiently.

Its a perfect comparison.

Something I thought of when the thread was discussing using Aethyric Vitae to make bombs. Only had free time now to make it.

Voting for this because it means that future social actions to check up on Eike will potentially come with bonus Cool Old Lady interactions.

Thanks to Nehekhara, there's something like four or five different flavours of even older magically-preserved Umgi that the Dwarves are already familiar with. Could bring that into double digits if you count different Vampire bloodlines separately.

Yeah, but those all either look like dessicated corpses or pretentious beardlings, only the Hags fit the proper being old aesthetic.

A four waystone vortex sounds perfect, like the four corners of a pyramid.

My mind is even now concocting crackpot ideas like a powerstone enhanced vortex room. Kind of need to be able to build waystones before talking about mini versions though. Also there might be a lower limit at the petty end of the spectrum.

The phrase "magically-preserved Umgi" has me remembering the time Girl Genius' Bears described certain characters as "pickle men." So now I'm imagining Vampires and Tomb Kings but with the personalities of the Jagermonsters.

And I just wanted that stray thought to infect the thread too. That's all. Some peanut gallery vampires here,~ some way-smarter-than-the-let-on-because-boy-do-they-play-the-fool-well Tomb Kings there,~ and perhaps Settra celebrating a victory over a defeated foe with the classic Mechanicsburg accessorizing (E: especially with the enemy's regalia.)
