Orc Quest; or, A Critical Examination of Agency Through in Interactive Fiction (Warcraft)

The issue is that he seems unable to determine who or what would be summoned up.

And he is definitely talking about elementals right. Not demons.

Otherwise...mmm...

Summoning up some elementals to suppliment our forces would be preferable.

Though with that said instead of making a direct assault, doing another stealthy sneak attack to try and open the gates so we don't have to engage in smashing would also be good.

Hrrm.
A part of me likes the idea of not calling upon a big elemental, but perhaps several smaller ones-
Ones that our troops could fight around, versus the 'summon and then RUN!' Of say, Forneus or, as I'm given to understand via Hearthstone, the Frostlord.

Yep. He's an rpg character and has Summon Creature VII so one thing he can summon there is a celestial whale which I thought was cool

Could give a few reasons in character if you want but essentially it doesn't fit the narrative I'm making for this arc so no
that our troops could fight around, versus the 'summon and then RUN!'
So on the scale of largeness, the proposition is a trex type thing something big and smashy. It doesn't necessary have to actually kill the enemy, it just needs to smash them around and distract them a lot. However, if this is a trex, forneus was Godzilla, something massively larger etc

I mean, the one problem with summoning Elementals in Arathi primarily comes from the fact that the strongest elemental available in the entire region is Myzael, and she's been driven insane by the Old Gods still.

[X] Rouse the Spirits
Command your magic users to rouse a powerful elemental, then follow the destruction it leaves among Stromgarde's defenders to take the city.

Our numbers are few and slow to replenish, a direct assault would be stupid. We promised to deliver the city, I doubt we were expected to keep it pretty while we did so.

I fear that one way or the other Galen won't offer anything worth this. Attempting this was folly. And yet here we are XD

Do we have a banner of his to carry? No? We don't even know if the garrison was informed. He should be here by our side with troops.
We can't really do this alone ... or, can we?
Maybe we can, and should. A veteran warband that fought even the Scourge vs. a bunch of random bandits.Let's not summon the next Forneus, please.

You've got the Stromic forces, but yes, in battle things are going to get confusing so the garrison would have to be assured that you were indeed on their side before they sallied out.
I don't imagine the warband is prepped for a siege.
Neither side is to be fair. The Syndicate are a bandit group squatting there, your warband is a small mobile force, neither is prepared for a longer campaign

Don't worry I'm definitely not foreshadowing anything with the choices in the Arathi arc.

Edited my previous choice for Blood in the Streets.
Why the heck do we have to resort to massive WMDs bound to go out of control, *all the time*?
You've got the Stromic forces
so we do have help after all

The Syndicate are a bandit group squatting there,
aye, can they really stand against a veteran warband that has trained well and fought the Scourge? If Grok'mash and Vark spearhead the charge, it would be difficult even for an Ogre to stand against them.
Take into account that the fire visions can also be influenced by Grok'mash's fears, e.g. of failure.

Maybe we should stop automatically reaching for the maximum destruction possible. Dreadmist Peak still gives PTSD to Grok'mash, lol. We do have humies with us so we are not entirely alone as I previously thought.

I wouldn't say they're WMDs. Forneus was, but this is one fortress. This is a relatively common thing in Warcraft. For example you had the forsaken guy at Dreadmist who was messing with the ley lines to send angry enementals into Ashenvale, it's a quest in classic. The weaponisation of natural spirits is a relatively common thing, and grows more common as the timeline progresses.

Consider, for example, a tomohawk missile. That's an escalation from a RPG or a motar round, it's a more powerful weapon, it's more sophisticated, more expensive and so on, but it's hardly a nuke
fire visions can also be influenced by Grok'mash's fears
Indeed, this is also notable.

mmm, what what what?

mmm...I'm not 100% sure of doom, but I'll vote for this
[X] Blood in the Streets

For now.

I do wish we could summon one to intimidate them into surrendering, but well that never works.

Feel we're a bit pigeonholed here, but fingers crossed we'll get to attempt some diplomacy.

It's a tough one, we don't want Forneus 2.0, and we don't have Fel-Dad to bail is out in the event of an elemental rampaging.

On the other hand we also want to mitigate attrition for the war and and raise our chances at success.

There's always chance the vision received was an attempt at manipulation by one of the various factions. But they haven't exactly steered us wrong so far.

I'm not convinced we won't get back stabbed by the Prince if were sufficiently weakened.

@FractiousDay After this vote, would there be a further subvote for each choice? Eg. How we go about the assault / summoning choices.

Edit: Removed Alterac query as on review, not that close by.

Yes for both narrative and mechanical reasons. For this one you're attacking, for further engagements with the ogres etc you can talk to them, but here talking does nothing, if they surrender and are allowed to retreat in good order you'd just have to fight htem again.

No it would just be the results chapter and the next vote etc, and you'd then continue proceeding to Hammerfall.
Also out of curiosity, considering the proximity to Alteract would we be able to investigate anything in regards to Jubei'this if we survive the assault?
Not really proximate. I mean it is, but you're heading east toward Hammerfall rather than west toward Alterac. You can do Alterac after the Scourge stuff, so there's this arc, then Naxx, then there'll be time for Alterac.

[] Rouse the Spirits

A good place to test out such tactics for later attacking the Scourge.

Considering the Syndicate it's going to be difficult to tell friend from foe with a direct assault. And Grok can't rely on the Prince not backstabbing them if the warbands sufficiently weakened.
