For some reason this option feels like the one that might end up leading us to the Zheng who is around. Unfortunately it also feels like the option the brings the most worthless people into our orbit so pass.

Am I the only one who already forgot who this mystery friend is? 😂 I also keep forgetting who's a Count vs Viscount. The only thing I'm sure of is LQ is Baron and CRX is Ducal heir and then there's a bunch of levels in between. Are Meng and Luo considered Counts or something else?

We don't really know who the mystery friend is either. They are on the mailing list that Ling Qi has started, made up of a list of names provided by Meizhen's dad, and that is our connection to them. We know they are a court clan member and that they are here. Ling Qi likely knows more because she has read the actual list, but we don't know much more.
Meng and Luo are considered Count clans, which are above Viscount clans. Our mystery friend though is from a court clan and we don't know much about them or how the fit in with the standard Baron, Viscount, Count, Duke structure.

If I remember correctly (which honestly Im probably not) the last time we talked with the Luo they were cold but there was some space to grow. Since then we've contacted outsiders and made treaties by leaning on the non imperial legacy of the province and we've been called king by something that was once a Weilu that somewhat stained our very soul. I'm excited to see how this goes.

While I think the third option of seeing who comes to us would be the 'best' option I personally want to see more of the court clan stuff

It wasn't that long ago that Ling Qi's own opinion of courts were the same as Xia Lin's. She's grown much more comfortable with socializing in these last few months but even here she wanted to check that the auction hadn't pocketed any of her wares. Honestly these two are again closer than they might realize and I kind of like that this has become a common occurrence.
And here Xia Lin goes deferential to Ling Qi again. This too feels like a retreading of our last adventure with her, when we accepted command because we were better suited as a scout and then didn't give it back even when Xia Lin's own competencies lair-delving were preferred. The voters and perhaps Ling Qi's subconsciousness decided that they'd rather have Ling Qi in charge then and it seems we're seeing the effects of that decision here, as Ling Qi rationalizes Xia Lin's general deference as incidental rather than realize she never corrected their dynamic.
Should we apologize and clarify that Renxiang expects us to cooperate as equals or do we still prefer Ling Qi having the authority? Because part of the argument when delving into the Hui hideout was that Xia Lin prefers violence over diplomacy. And here if we approach Weilu Moderate Court Clan members she might prefer pushing an Imperial/Anti-traditional agenda if given the chance. Authority isn't something we want to have given up in these and likely many future situations. Either way it'll be interesting to see how our dynamic with Xia Lin evolves from here.
