[X] Contact Ostermark

More than the force being added to the Kislevites, I like the idea of attacking from two directions.
It leaves the enemy less chances to lure us into a good trap.

My initial thought is that the magic isn't flowing from Erengrad --> Kislev --> Praag and terminating, but instead going from Erengrad --> Kislev --> Praag --> Erengrad in a loop, being used up along the way and generally empowering the three cities of Kislev.

Possibly, but my concern with that is that it's not a closed loop—it's drawing power from the north pole as well, and unless they are dumping it into something like the vortex at the heart of Ulthuan, then that magic is going to keep growing and compounding until it overwhelms the waystones.

[X] Bring in Ice Witches

Ostermark invites confusion and opportunity for spooky trees to cause friendly fire incidents, especially with a confirmed lack of magic perception. Trying to get the Tsarevich to usurp authority is not likely to win us favors, because he'll remember that in the future we might try to undercut him. Parley isn't just bad because tricksy wood elves, but because it goes against the culture and built up momentum. Boyar, meh.

Let's drag granny out of her spa.

Hmm... unless the Ice witches can pull a Liljana and keep up with Mathilde... how is Mathilde going to bring them?
Give them all shadow steeds?

Taking the options one at a time so I can have all my thoughts in one place:

[ ] Bring in Ice Witches
Currently, the only Ice Witch that is likely to be present for the battle is Milica. If you travel to Kislev City, you could bring in additional Ice Witches on Shadowsteeds. Milica says there are at least two and perhaps as many as five Ice Witches in Kislev City that would be able to respond and could meaningfully contribute to a battle.
[ ] Find the Boyar
For some reason, the Athel Loren forces seem to be trying to lure in Boyar Kalashinivik and his rota. Boyar Kalashinivik should be somewhere on the road between Praag and Kislev. Intercept him and see if you can figure out what this is all about.
[ ] Scout the Shirokij
Of the forces here, only you would have any chance of moving unseen through the Shirokij. Use this to try to scout the enemy.
[ ] Urge an attack
From what little you know of Tzar Vladimir, it does seem like it might be preferable for the attack to be made under the command of Tsarevich Boris instead. Argue for the attack to begin before the Tzar arrives, while the gathered pulks are under Boris' authority.
[ ] Attempt a parlay
The Tsarevich can grant you the authority to negotiate with these intruders in the name of Kislev, though that's easier said than done. Attempt to make that happen without endangering yourself too much.
[ ] Contact Ostermark
The Tsarevich can grant you the authority to reach out to Ostermark to request their aid on behalf of Kislev, and their military is already mustered at Bechafen. Ride there and request Elector Count Hertwig pushes into the Shirokij from the south as Kislev's forces do so from the north.
[ ] Other (write in)

Fetch Ice Witches: 1+1d4 battle mages and now that we know the wasystone thing is not the work of the fey I think is is far to say they are a fair counter to the fey
Find the Boyar: My preferred course of action not least because I do not trust the Tzar's common sense or capacity to notice plots, if we do have some cause to worry about him I worry that he would take the chance to do something underhanded. with Boris here and more or less on side we have some confidence that if we have to accuse him of something we have decent odds of being believed
Scout the Scary fey woods: Did not get any less suicidal since the last update
Urge an Attack: Sounds like a political mess we have to reason to meddle in
Parley with the Murder trees: No... hell no, hell squared no, there is no reason to assume they are willing to deal, and if by some miracle they are it is vanishingly unlikely Tzar Warrior McWar will be interested in any sort of deal
Friends across the Border: Honestly might be a better investment than the witches, but it will be more bloody and I do not know if it is justifiable to drag imperial troops into this. On the other side of the coin this does have the advantage of hammering home that unity message more than our presence already does
Other: Ranaldite battle prayer anyone? We do kind of need some funds. :V

Because magic grannies for the win.

And you know, it's almost a shame Mathilde isn't doing this in Stirland, because I would love to see an evolution of her Dammerlichtreiter legend focused on the sea of fog she uses to bring armies to war. Maybe some new legend will pop up in Kislev?

Ah yes. What could be more charming than a delicious sour cream and champagne cocktail.
As someone who regularly drinks something very similar, Mathilde's explanation is difficult to visualise if you haven't drank it yourself. The actual drink is sharp, tangy, sour and somewhat refreshing. I used the example of "drinkable yoghurt" to describe it. Koumiss is probably stronger than what I drink, but I can attest that it is quite charming.

Opening a second front with Ostermark and a cooperative joint action between Kislev-Empire seems like it holds lots of potential.

On the other hand, the whole point of Mathilde getting involved is to forge better relations with the Ice Witches, so getting more of them would better serve that interest.

After all we have heard about him I am curious to meet the Tzar. I see if going one of two ways

Human Kazador, we love him like our very own half-bear uncle
or
Dangerous Warmonger, so about that succession...

Whatever the case I do not think we would be indifferent to the man

[X] Bring in Ice Witches

Since the shadowsteed can carry whatever the bearer can carry I got the mental image of Mathilda galloping down the road at full speed carrying a granny in her arms bridal style

We all know that Babushka would attempt a Yoda style backpack over being held in a bridal carry. Far more fitting.

Not if its being continuously used up to empower the Land :V

Seriously, the lore behind inception of Kislev itself is centered around and implying that its basically just a bodyguard of the Waystones endemic to the country, and shadowpuppetted to that end by Ice Witches. And who gave Ice Witches the go ahead to take the Gospodars and take Kislev? Ancient Widow.

Ice magic is also notably stronger in the North, and if someone could do comparative studies, i am pretty sure they would find that not North but specifically Kislev.

It all just goes around to the entire bungaloo somehow empowering Ancient Widow to get more power to make sure Kislev stands so she can presumably exact her bloody revenge on Chaos for killing half her family all tied into loop.
