Prince Aladdin Quest (Disney Villains *Almost* Victorious)

As a heads up to everyone, I just did some very much needed bookkeeping, and properly updated the omake listing and XP bank.

Edit: Also awarded some XP that I had missed giving out as well.

There's a map in the Informational posts. Going by it, Jerusalem is within the Sultanate of Agrabah.

I am pretty sure the Sultan treats pilgrims kindly and so on, but would not appreciate an invasion of Frollo-fanatics.

Honestly, Jerusalem has only been a nightmare hotspot for violence at specific times when a heavily armed religion parachuted into the region and demanded to change ownership at the expense of whichever religion was holding it at the time.

Frollo launching a crusade to take Jerusalem is a problem for us- though his own border security situation is bad enough that he'd be unwise to do so. When the historical Crusades took place, western Catholic Christendom was considerably less threatened from the outside.

And if Frollo doesn't do it... Well, nobody else in a position to try to take Jerusalem is gonna care. I figure it'll be fine, barring Frollo. Nobody else is likely to threaten the current presumed Arabian Nights-style Muslim control of the Holy Land.
Honestly it's times like this I love this thread since a conversation about faction locations and characterization turns into a discussion on the nature of divinity and how to properly talk about abuse all while remaining civil and informational

I'm half wondering if Agrabah is gonna go for incorporating Mecca and Medina as well. In fact, I kind of hope they do, if only to keep Lemuria from crawling up the Arabian coast to absorb the two holy cities.

I think that we'd see something like that come into play if it looked like Lemuria was going to do that, but Agrabah isn't an expansionist realm, so I doubt they'll move first.

Considering the entire Italian peninsula got glitched by accident and I don't want to be anywhere near that place
The Italian peninsula isn't gone, it got overwritten with an approximation of Italian civilization as it was in a combination of Sinbad the Sailor and the Hercules films - that is, heavily Greco-Roman. Rome is there, but it's closer to Estrucan Rome than Borgia Rome.
Gods as a whole are a bit of a Berserk Button for me, because they tend to be utterly hypocritical sociopaths who toy with mortal lives just because they can and to me HE is actually among the *Worst* of the bunch.
While I understand why you think that's the case, please bear in mind that there are people in the thread like myself who are Christians and who take their faith fairly seriously. You're free to express your opinion, but don't be surprised if you find that others vehemently disagree with it. I expect that my theism as much a conundrum to you as your antitheism is to me.

Now we know where frollo's going to crusade so nice pre Christianity Rome was as non Christian as you can get by any way of the word. Multiple religious cults ( by cults I mean the old style cults which were more private religions) rampant slavery and open use of sex workers to name a few. It'd be pretty easy for frollo to justify a crusade to retake rome

Have you seen the Dreamworks film Sinbad the Sailor? It's basically that. Not...that. Why are you so obsessed with the possibility of Frollo going on a crusade, especially in our direction? He's plenty busy with the Horned King, Maleficient, the blizzard from Arendelle, and the Northern Alliance pirates knocking on his doorstep.

I imagine Italy is being ruled by an alliance of city-states under the leadership of Prince Proteus and his father.

Heck, he's one of the weaker factions since he'll need to find alchemcy, magic etc in order to counter the advantages the others already have. Not to mention the freaking Titans wandering somewhere around his eastern border. You can't do anything to them unless you have the force a god/demi-god can bring to bear.

Technically speaking, I am Christian as well - *Catholic* even...but after taking a hard look at the sorry state *Religion* tends to leave societies in, I just couldn´t take it anymore and more or less forsook that label in any context but the literal one (since my workplace is nominally Protestant, I´d rather not push my luck and leave the church entirely, only to have to look for work some other place)

From my point of view the vast majority of gods/religions do not *deserve* human worship, plain and simple

Well, at least we've both made our opinions clear on the subject. I don't think the thread is the appropriate place to continue hashing out our theological differences, though. Truce? :D

On a lighter note, who do you guys think the Atlanteans will send as their attache? Who would you like to see as an attache? My money's on either Mole or Vinny, as those two are the least likely to have a dedicated advisor role, and I don't think Cookie would be on par with Will Turner.

Depending on how the movie went...

No idea. They sort of seemed like a tight knit mercenary team. Not sure who would want to leave.

Maybe that second in command woman that got betrayed at the end of the movie, if she is still alive.

Ooh, hadn't considered Helga. She'd be a powerhouse, that's for sure. I think she would still be alive, as I don't think Milo would be the type to kill her after taking command in Atlantis, and we know the battle with the balloon never took place.
The bridge builder we need to connect our huge ass territory.
He's the hero we deserve, but not the one we need. Or is it the other way around?

- [][Leah Personal] Time with Cade
Cade and Leah have been practically joined at the hip since they came to the kingdom (Not like that you perverts). But with the advent of her powers and all the time spent training in them, it feels like a rift has begun to open between them. Time to remedy that!
Diplomacy DC: 50

Am I for this? I am very much for this. @TempestK , any stuff that support Leah or Cade, I'd like to spent my XP on if it wins.

[X] Plan Personal Growth but with Cade personal action

I've never seen that film and I know alot about European history especially medieval times so I always want to know where a crusade is and how to stop it

Helga would be great, especially because we'd be losing a Martial hero, and Helga's life and combat experience would as good or even greater then William's. She might even have mechanic or electrical skills. That would be a fantastic trade.

But I don't know if they trust Helga enough to send her that far away, or if they trust her at all. We don't know, or at least I don't remember how things ended over there or who's alive.

As for who else... well, pretty much anyone they send is fantastic. They were all top of their fields from when they came, any knowledge they possess is invaluable. Sure, technology isn't as impressive with the abundance of magic in the world, but for the common people technology will do far more to improve their quality of life.

Only trick is their a little too advanced for pur needs, but it's not like our people are dumb. If we can bridge the gap, where we make the tools they need to make their tools, we're in business.

They won't send Mole though. It doesn't matter how valuable his skills are, and they very much are as valuable as the rest if not more so becausewe can immediately put his skills to work, his Moleness makes him a diplomatic insult almost every step of the way.
He's the hero we deserve, but not the one we need. Or is it the other way around?
He's Vinny. He made a bridge in like, ten seconds. Eleven, tops.

She'd be great but I think William surpasses thanks to potential. Dude had what it takes to die and become the next Davy Jones.

Now Helga on the other hand has an arguably more valuable talent. She's smart and from an age that has things like mechanics and nutrition. The second one could be a minor but valuable addition to the medical college.

Where Are They? Part 3 (Canon)
Where Are They? Part 3

Turn 8

Renard Dumont and Co

Conglomerate, 96/250: 1d100+8+10+8+5: 115! Progress advances to 211/250! Renard, Albert, Hooft, Hugo, and Remy advance their respective businesses, and their efforts at creating one company under the head of Renard advance nicely! Renard feels confident that with all of the paperwork in order, loans granted, and bank accounts opened, it will be just a matter of talking with the King of Maldonia to confirm the establishment of Dumont and Friends, Conglomerated! The leading business in Maldonia for alcohol, horses, food, and dry goods! Complete with stable, distillery, and a restaurant featuring the finest in French and Belgian cuisine!

Captain Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck, of the MRS Löwe von Afrika

Von Lettow's priorities: Diplomacy, Martial, Learning!

Diplomacy: Training or meetings? 1d2: 2! Meet with who? 1=the Royal Family, 2=Fellow soldiers, 3=Dumont and Co. 1d3: 2! His fellow soldiers!
Meeting with Staquait: 1d100+25: 33! Not a complete failure, but it's obvious that they were enemies not too long ago. No loss, but neither sees much point in reaching out to the other for the time being.

Martial: Training or patrol? 1d3: 1! Training! No DC, scale for degree of success: 1d100+25+20: 90! 5 degrees of success! Von Lettow has thoroughly familiarized himself with his 16-gun ship and has become a passable sailor. He also got a new uniform made at an up and coming clothier business. There, he met Eudora. She's from further in the future, and her husband died in 1918 fighting the Germans.

How does the conversation go? DC 75, 1d100+25: 65! Bare failure! She recognizes him, and takes no small glee in informing Von Lettow about how the Germans lost and were utterly humiliated at the end of the war. Von Lettow is left having to come to terms with the reality that the war was for naught, and that his beloved homeland was utterly humiliated by the Treaty of Versailles. He also sees the genuine grief in a woman who lost her husband fighting Von Lettow's brothers, but in doing so achieved her nation's second-highest award for valor.

Personal action unlocked: Self-Reflection.

Learning: Learning what? Biggest obstacle at the moment is his lack of Arabic, so that's his focus. Learning Arabic, 0/100 to Beginner: 1d100+20+5: 32! 32/100. Poor start, but focused more on his sailing studies. Trait unlocked: "Student of Arabic, A1" - currently does not speak, read, write or comprehend Arabic, all attempts at communication suffer a -20 malus.

Language notes:
A1: 0/100.
A2: 0/150
B1: 0/200
B2: 0/250
C1: 0/300
C2: 0/400

Note: Progress tiers vary with how foreign a given language is to the speaker; if Staquait, for example, wanted to learn Spanish, the progress length would be reduced by 50 since he already fluently speaks French and English and he is very close to Spain; if he were to try learning Chinese, each would probably increase by +100 since not only is it a difficult language to learn, his resources for learning it are very poor at the moment.

Colonel Staquait, newly enlisted in the Maldonian Army

Priorities: Martial, Learning, Diplomacy.

At what rank does the Maldonian military offer to take him? DC 50 to remain an officer, 75 to keep his current rank, 100 for a promotion. 1d100+17+5+10 (Accomplished Soldier): 86! Parallel promotion to Colonel in the Maldonian military!

Martial: Settling in (no DC, tiered success): 1d100+17+5+10-5 (Outsider): 94! Five tiers of success! Staquait learns the structure of the new military, gets a new uniform, and successfully integrates his former soldiers into the Maldonian military!

Learning: Biggest obstacle is his lack of Arabic. Learning Arabic, 0/100 to Beginner: 1d100+12: 112! Critical success! Secondary roll: 77! Total: 189! Staquait is a natural at learning languages! Trait discovered: "Perfectionist" - +10 to all self-improvement rolls! Current Arabic status: A2, 89/150! Trait gained: -10 Communication malus when attempting to communicate in Arabic!

Diplomacy: Study or meeting people? 1d2: 2! Meeting people!
Meeting table: 1=Von Lettow, 2-4=one of the company men, 5=Sinbad, 6=Royal Family. 1d6: 4! 1d5: 3! Hooft and Hugo! 1d100+9: 21! They have him taste-test a batch of alcohol. It doesn't go well.

Flynn Ryder

Traveling to Ababwa, travel check Martial DC 30 (familiar territory): 1d100+10+15+10 (escape trait) 105! Critical success! Flynn arrives in Ababwa without any mishaps (for once).

Find a physician, Intrigue DC 50-20 (local university, hospital): 1d100+20+5 (Fidella): 84! Success! Flynn finds a hospital!

Quality of care, Stewardship DC none, tiered for success: 1d100+4+15 (Chiron bonus for Ababwa): 47! He finds a bed and gets his legs splinted, but the damage is pretty bad. He'll be bedridden for some time.

Does he meet anyone? DC 75, 1d100+10+10+5: 114! Great success! Who? 1d12: 3! Chief Diplomat Scheherazade!

Diplomacy contest:
Scheherazade: 1d100+30: 102!
Flynn: 1d100+10+10: 72!
"Here Comes The Smolder" does not activate!

Scheherazade's opinion: 1d100+30: 44! Honestly, Flynn looks a little pathetic at the moment. He's malnourished, both his legs are broken, and he comes off as something of a rogue. Still, she sees a spark of potential in him…

Does she tell Aladdin about him? DC 56, 1d100+30: 115! Critical success! She does, and furthermore she decides to help put some coin towards Flynn's recovery. +10 bonus to healing rolls!

Holmes and Watson

How do they react to the end of the threat posed by the Sand Witches? Diplomacy check.
Holmes: 1d100+12-10 (post-case depression): 91! Holmes does not go into a depression! "A 7% Solution" does not activate! +9 to all rolls this turn!

Watson: 1d100+15+10: 71! Watson is pleased to see the threat brought to a successful end! +7 to all rolls this turn!

What does Holmes choose to do? 1=Find another case, 2-4=Self-improvement. 1d4: 1! A new case!
What does he find? 1=The Mystery of the Rogue Baron; 2-3=The Case of the Lying Lemurian; 4-6=The Case of the Tartarus Prison Break. 1d6: 4! Holmes decides to go investigate the rumors of the prison break from Tartarus!

What does Watson choose to do? 1-3=Stay with the Sultan; 4-6=Assist Holmes. 1d6: 2! Fearing another assassination attempt by the same unknown party that tried to poison the Sultan, Watson decides to stay and continue his work as the Sultan's personal physician.

Does Holmes leave Agrabah or stay there to start his research? 1d2: 1! Holmes leaves for Greece!

Watson interrupt! "Holmes, there was just an assassination attempt upon the Sultan. Might I suggest that it is more of a priority than leaving to go back to the Underworld?"

Diplomacy contest! Watson vs. Holmes.
Watson: 1d100+15+10+7: 69!
Holmes: 1d100+12+9: 26!
Watson success! Holmes stays, but resolves to investigate the escape of Sisyphus at the earliest convenience.

Watson "I'm His Friend" check, DC 75: 1d100: 91! Watson adds +7 Intrigue and +10 bonus.
Holmes and Watson investigation of the poisoning: DC 100-10 (Watson ID'd the poison): 1d100+30+30+7+10 (I'm His Friend"): 107! Success! Holmes narrows down the culprit to a palace servant; when interrogated, he admitted that he was paid to do so by a British sailor with a pock-marked face. He was paid in gemstones, which makes it difficult to trace. Nevertheless, Holmes decides to focus his attention upon the EITC.

Advisory: Caution the Sultan regarding the EITC. Diplomacy check: 75-25 (trusted aides)-15 (servant confession): 1d100+12+15+10+9+7: 79! Success! The Sultan and Jasmine believe Holmes and Watson, and vow to help the duo uncover the truth behind the attempt.

Turn 9 priority: Investigate the EITC, continue tracing the culprits behind the assassination attempt!

Watson: Primary Care Provider for the Sultan and Princess Jasmine: 1d100+18+20+7: 108! Immense success! Everyone gets physicals, both royals are in the best of health - although Watson does advise that Sultan cut back on the snacks. Increased reputation with the Royal Family!

Red and Angry

Traveling to Ababwa, Martial DC 30: 1d100+5+7: 96! Immense success! They arrive in short order.

Lie low or do what they do best? 1d3: 3! Crime spree!

Crime spree roll, DC 0+28+20+20: 1d100+10+12+15: 98! Success! They steal (1d100+10+12+15+9: 77!) 770 gold worth of goods! Action unlocked for Aladdin: Track down the spree thieves!

Investigate the scarab, Learning DC 85: 1d100+4+5: 59! Failure!

Red: ???, DC 100-60: 1d100+8: 21! Failure! Nothing happens…yet.

The Baron and Stalyan

Reactions to the setbacks from Ryder, the Pub Thugs, and Angry and Red: Diplomacy check, tiered DC. 1d100+12+18+10-10: 51! They don't actually lose their heads, but it's a close-run thing.

Goal: 1=Chase Flynn; 2=Chase Angry and Red; 3=Chase the Pub Thugs; 4-6, head south to Lemuria; 7-9, head East to China; 10, travel south to join the EITC as hired muscle. 1d10: 9! Go to China!

What are their plans in China? 1-3=Join Lord Shen; 4-6=Continue working as independent bandits; 7-9=Try replacing Shan Yu; 10=Try taking over the Resistance. 1d10: 3! The Baron decides to offer his services to Lord Shen!

Keep the army together! DC 75-20 (Baron is scary)-10 (Stalyan's wiles)+10 (Ryder)+15 (Angry and Red)+15 (Pub Thugs)+15 (Ababwa setbacks), final Martial DC 100. 1d100+22+10+5+10+14: 161! Nat 100! Secondary roll: 68! Final roll: 229! Critical success! The army stays together, and even grows as they travel East as he starts absorbing remnants of Shan Yu's army! The Baron's command trait increases to +15!

Get past Xiang-Wu, DC 75-10 (Easy Mark): 1d100+22+15+5+10+14: 75! Bare success! Thanks to Xiang-Wu being distracted by raiders to their east, they aren't prepared for a bandit army from the west. The plundering is cursory; The Baron is more focused on restoring his numbers and therefore recruiting deserters and independent bandits. Ironically, public order actually improves once the Baron and his army finish passing through as many of the ne'er-do-wells have left with him.

Enter China: Roll on the random encounter table. 1=Kai, 2-4=Attack by the Resistance, 5-6=Shan Yu. 1d6: 5! They encounter Shan Yu!

Shan Yu: 1=Attack, 2=Diplomacy. 1d2: 1! Shan Yu and what's left of his army attacks the bandit army! Martial contest, The Baron vs. Shan Yu.

The Baron: 1d100+22+15: 61!

Shan Yu: 1d100+20+15+5-5: 58!

It is a close-run fight; the two combatants are essentially equal. The Baron's comparatively more refreshed men end up having the edge, though, and a lack of focus in a crucial moment - as Shan Yu is not yet accustomed to battling without his falcon to act as an extra set of eyes - results in Shan Yu's defeat.

What happens to Shan Yu? 1=killed, 2-3=captured, 4-6=escapes. 1d6: 2! The Baron and his men capture Shan Yu!

Traveling to Lord Shen.

Shan Yu escape attempt, Intrigue contest. Who's in charge of guarding Shan Yu? 1d4: 4! The Stabbington Brothers.

Shan Yu: 1d100+18+10+5-5+15 (Won't End Like This): 53!

The Stabbingtons: 1d100+7+5: 89! Stabbington success?!?

Can he bribe them? Diplomacy contest:

Shan Yu: 1d100+18+15+5+15 (Won't End Like This): 75!

The Stabbingtons: 1d100+4+5-20 (What's The Best Part?)+10 (Scared of the Baron): 45!

Shan Yu success! With the promise of untold riches that only Shan Yu knows about, he convinces the Stabbingtons to let him go.

Does he live up to his word? DC 75, 1d100+18+15+5: 62! No! "See you never, waigoren."

Do the Stabbingtons go back to the Baron? DC 90, 1d100+4+5+5: 51! Nope! They high-tail it out of there!

The Baron has lost The Stabbington Brothers as heroes!

Which direction do the Stabbingtons go? 1=West, 2=South. 1d2: 2! South! Lemuria or EITC? 1d2: 1! Lemuria! Oh boy…

The Misadventures of the Stabbington Brothers will be continued in "Where Are They? Part 4!"

The Baron's reaction: "STABBINGTONS!!!" He has yet another grudge to hold up.

Meeting with Lord Shen, DC 50. 1d100+12+10+18: 61! Success! Between the Baron and his daughter Stalyan, they not only manage a meeting with Lord Shen, but successfully convince him to take them and their accompanying army into his service!

A/N: Wow, that was a crazy ride. Hope you all enjoyed reading that as much as I did making it! The Varian omake should be out soon.
