[x] Tsarevich Boris Bokha

Quite interested in the opportunity heading to Kislev city presents to track back the blocked lay line from it's source.
Could be relevant to both the current investigation, if it's being used to power the invasion, and/or the Waystone Project directly even if not.

[x] Hag Witches

Beastmen were explicitly called out as hag witch business and herd stones are the opposite of way stones. I think we might be underestimating the interaction.

[X] Ice Witches

A middle ground, less chance to get involved in high politics but also less chance to be shown the door by an angry Ungol grandma.

[x] Tsarevich Boris Bokha

To do otherwise would be to undercut his authority. If the ice witches are on the outs and we talked to them without talking to him, well. And if we went to the hags directly he'd hear about us crossing the border and then just disappearing. Ungood. Finally, if it IS Athel Loren, he REALLY needs to know. Oh, and remember we have no legal authority here.

If we go with Ice Witches I'd have Johannes go to Boris with a letter explaining what we and then hurry back, citing the unknown time frame as the reason why we haven't seen him directly.

In actually voting for tzarevich because of the blocked ley line.

He was so desperate to see the fruits of the project help his country, that he offered to host the project to see the benefits.

Mathilde can earn some favor with the guy with the disconnected waystone.
It's proof that care about kislev, even if they haven't contributed to the project yet.

The Kovnik is carrying a dusty and yellowed piece of parchment to compare against your papers, and spends quite some time in quiet scrutiny. "Your papers are in order," he eventually says, sounding half relieved, half disappointed. "Where are you traveling to from here, and what is your business there?"

[ ] Tsarevich Boris Bokha
You are travelling to Kislev City to offer your services to the Tsarevich himself.
[ ] Ice Witches
You are staying right here in Rakhov, to offer your services to the local Boyar and to work alongside the Ice Witches.
[ ] Hag Witches
You are travelling deeper into the Shirokij Forest, to offer your services to the local atamans and their resident Hag Witches.
Boney, I'd just like to say that I am delighted by the diagetic framing of this vote - not just the quoted portion, but the conversation, what prompted it, how it transitioned into the above quote, and how that transition shows without explicitly stating that Mathilde is winging her response. I read through the options without feeling like I was dipping out of the narrative one bit, and that had a wonderful feeling of flow to it.

Great stuff.

[X] Hag Witches

As for my vote, the hag witches both have the most potential gratitude to give for our help, and abilities derived from waystones or relevant to their job. The only thing keeping it from being an absolute slam dunk is "maybe they're Father applicable", but even then having a huge favor in our pocket doesn't stop greasing the wheels if they supernaturally trust us... and they're not guaranteed to supernaturally trust us if we circle back next turn with the appropriate coin.

The ice witches are on the outs with the tzar, not the tzarevich (prince).

As we saw when we met him, the ice witches do not like the current tzar of kislev, and are hoping the tzarevich Boris wil marry one of them, and bring them back into prominence, and be a better ruler.

You're assuming an order of events that isn't necessarily correct and is more likely to be wrong than not given prior information. what if the palace is on top of the waystone rather than the waystone being under the palace?

I mean I am not assuming anything Boris tells us who made the stone, he calls it of elven make, the only question is who made it glow white in storms? Given a choice between the Bear Piss Anti-Chaos Witches and the Ice witches I think it is a fair bet that white means winter

[X] Ice Witches

There's no actual undercutting going on by doing this as has been a concern. It's explicitly going to the local noble in charge of the area and directly impacted by the event.
