Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
To build on Void's point, Boney did say that Faith would involve us completely stopping this line of research barring the incredibly low chance of getting Ranald's support.

I'm pretty sure the chances of getting Ranald's support weren't stated as "incredibly low" but rather that we just have no way to know at all beforehand what Ranald is thinking and how he'll react... thus we can only have "Faith" in our own perception of Ranald.

I must admit, I'm a bit amused (not in a bad way) by how "Faith" that Ranald isn't gonna mind is a huge part of the "Truth" lobby's success.

It is almost like he is made of lies and theft or something. :V

You know I cannot help but wonder something, if there was a vote to burn this crystal, which rightfully belongs to Ranald, but not as sacrifice and then continue to make others would you take it? Genuine question because that would be my inclination as well in a perfect world and I am curious to know how many faith voters would prefer such an action?

I feel it would make the vote less fun and meaningful to have such an option though. Hard choices are that much more entertaining!

That was not really my question though, it was an attempt to gouge the motivations of Faith voters by posing a counter-factual vote. Like it is easy to say 'most faith voters are driven by fear' and there have certainly been a lot of fear based arguments, but there have also been a lot of arguments about Ranald's right to his imprint and I would be curious to know how much of an impact that has had.

Personally, the argument that swayed me was AP. The Waystone Project is going to be a gargantuan undertaking that requires significant efforts both research-wise and diplomatically. Voting for Truth unlocks what looks to be a long term tree of competing AP sinks and potential diplo complications, while voting for Faith has a more immediate consequence and a much lower chance of complicating Mathilde's diplo efforts.

For me personally, Ranald's privacy doesn't factor into it. Honestly I don't think he would mind too much. It's more that this is poking the gods and risking their wrath a bit too much. We have other hubris to get too like putting a demon apparition in our soul.
Add that to the way that Faith will reinforce our relationship with Ranald and the prize gatcha from it, it gets my vote.

By the same token, I'd find it interresting to know the portion of "Truth" voters who vote so because they believe that Ranald wants us to do this behind His back rather than just because they value the knowledge more than the relationship with our God...

I hope people won't be disappointed if "Truth" wins and it messes up our relationship with Ranald. Which should at least be a consideration seeing the symbolic of having to CHOOSE between "Truth" and "Faith".

I guess that just like I HOPE that "Faith" will result in Ranald backing our research fully people that vote "Truth" also want to have their cake and eat it and that it doesn't impact our relationship with Ranald... both scenarios can't be counted on (and are probably unlikely).

I also like how much of the Faith argument is driven by fear. Normally, I would probably find it distasteful, but it's so incredibly fitting for people (including me in this case) to choose Faith because of our fear in the consequences of our lack of faith lol.
I at least just trust in Ranald.

Picking our oldest friend over yet another research tree just feels right to me.

Recognizing Gazul was brought up, and we can't yet. Couldn't we scrutinize the giant steel pillar that goes through our home to get a better feeling for Him? Or would He not like that?
Not talking fingerprinting with AV, just good old-fashioned magesight.

we literally got a huge bonus to counterspelling necromancers, and a break glass in case of Nagash option.
But we still haven't put a single action toward doing anything with apparitions with was the most recent bit of no we are totally not treading the line, these warp entities are entirely not demonic in nature, put down the torch you second rate witch hunter.

The vote tally is telling me that there are 507 individual voters for this vote. I'm pretty sure that's a record, but I can't remember the highest vote count this thread got last time.
