Honestly, having Dhar insight seems like it might actually be useful for the Waystone Project. Knowing more about Dhar should mean we have a better understanding of how to prevent it from forming, right?

You know, this entire section screams "You need DIPLO: Collegiate!" to me.

Also, do we have a quick run down of who all the college precursors were? I know the Jades and the Ambers were nature shamans, but I'm not really clear on the others.

Edit: oh, and the greys were mystics, right?
Amber - shamans
Jades - druids
Grey - hedgewise
Gold - alchemists
Bright - Elementalists (fire ones)
Amethysts - no precursor, IIRC, they just ended up in the Cult of Morr, thus their close ties with them even now
Light - ???, some kind of philosophers?
Celestial - ???, some kind of soothsayers and/or astrologers?

Good point. I'll approval vote Collegiate to give it a chance to rise up and contest the top two, since Dawri seems pretty unlikely at this point.

College precursors as I remember Boney relating them, though I won't pull citations for all of them unless requested
  • Lights: esoteric philosophers and mystery cults
  • Celestial: astrologers and soothsayers
  • Gold: alchemists
  • Jade: druids
  • Ambers: shamans
  • Brights: nothing specific
  • Greys: Hedgewise and illusionists
  • Amethysts: Cult of Morr

Err Brights come from the Pyromancers of the Elementalists.

In terms of "things I want to boost that are within striking distance" this is about it - will very possibly revise this later as trends evolve.

Err Brights come from the Pyromancers of the Elementalists.
Not to the degree that the other Colleges were a rebranding of magic-using traditions that already existed:
They did nab some fire-inclined Elementalists, but yes, the Bright Order has a pretty good claim to be the 'purest' Teclisean College. Their first Magister Patriarch was a former Greatsword so a lot of their cultural trappings come from the Imperial military.

I think trucemaker and Dhar insight will help most with Waystones, what do you think?

Didn't the Hedgewise refuse to sign up with the early Grey College and have subsequently come to regret that?

Yes, but not all of them.

Some hedgewise joined the Grey college. Others didn't... because they either weren't convinced, or didn't get the message.

That's the situation with the druids. Some joined up, some didn't, but the way it seems to be presented is that the Hedgewise were much more universal in their rejection of the Colleges.

Alas, Trucemaker seems to be less about conflict resolution and more about putting conflict aside temporarily. Which is useful, but not really all that helpful for our long-term project.
Yeah. Think about it in the context of the expedition: we took literally every possible opportunity to not fight with the forces of Chaos other than Vlag, because we were conserving our strength and picking our battles. We made truces with two groups of Kurgan and with the Baersonlings and we peacefully did business at Uzkulak. We never made peace between quarrelling groups, we just repeatedly went "we didn't come out here to fight these guys" and cut deals.

Trucemaker. Not Peacemaker, and certainly not Alliancemaker. I've got no quarrel with the people voting for it because they liked us making truces with the ostensibly-Chaotic people along the way, I'm just worried that folks looking at it as a way to make mom and dad* stop fighting and voting for it on those grounds will be disappointed if it wins.

Polyglot is fantastically useful for reasons already explained by others, and I also think it's just a trait that perfectly fits her as a character, as a multicultural, open-minded and empathetic nerd.

Collegiate is directly useful to the project as well, and if we want to start experimenting with manipulating other Winds using Ulgu, then having better relations with the other Colleges will be fantastically useful.

Dhar Insight is a very unique sort of trait, very relevant for the upcoming project, and it also just fascinates me.
