Amber - shamansYou know, this entire section screams "You need DIPLO: Collegiate!" to me.
Also, do we have a quick run down of who all the college precursors were? I know the Jades and the Ambers were nature shamans, but I'm not really clear on the others.
Edit: oh, and the greys were mystics, right?
Well, you kno-
Curses, missed out on a great recruitment opportunity here. How am I supposed to convince people to want necromancy when the things they love and cherish refuse to die? Do you realise how hard it is to convince happy and hopeful people to risk it all on dark arts? Trust me, it is a very difficult thing to do.
Good point. I'll approval vote Collegiate to give it a chance to rise up and contest the top two, since Dawri seems pretty unlikely at this point.

College precursors as I remember Boney relating them, though I won't pull citations for all of them unless requested
- Lights: esoteric philosophers and mystery cults
- Celestial: astrologers and soothsayers
- Gold: alchemists
- Jade: druids
- Ambers: shamans
- Brights: nothing specific
- Greys: Hedgewise and illusionists
- Amethysts: Cult of Morr
Not to the degree that the other Colleges were a rebranding of magic-using traditions that already existed:
They did nab some fire-inclined Elementalists, but yes, the Bright Order has a pretty good claim to be the 'purest' Teclisean College. Their first Magister Patriarch was a former Greatsword so a lot of their cultural trappings come from the Imperial military.
Yes, but not all of them.Didn't the Hedgewise refuse to sign up with the early Grey College and have subsequently come to regret that?
Alas, Trucemaker seems to be less about conflict resolution and more about putting conflict aside temporarily. Which is useful, but not really all that helpful for our long-term project.I think trucemaker and Dhar insight will help most with Waystones, what do you think?
Yes, but not all of them.
Some hedgewise joined the Grey college. Others didn't... because they either weren't convinced, or didn't get the message.
Yeah. Think about it in the context of the expedition: we took literally every possible opportunity to not fight with the forces of Chaos other than Vlag, because we were conserving our strength and picking our battles. We made truces with two groups of Kurgan and with the Baersonlings and we peacefully did business at Uzkulak. We never made peace between quarrelling groups, we just repeatedly went "we didn't come out here to fight these guys" and cut deals.Alas, Trucemaker seems to be less about conflict resolution and more about putting conflict aside temporarily. Which is useful, but not really all that helpful for our long-term project.
