Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I think Constellation's Accompaniment will either be forgotten in text or nerfed to oblivion.
Every time one of our allies uses one of Ling Qi's techniques in a fight is a scene where they could have used their own cool technique, it would lead to us seeing less abilities from our friends when fighting alongside them already is so rare.

I have to emphasize this idea ...

I disagree strongly. Every time an ally uses one of LQ's techs is wordcount that doesn't involve LQ doing the thing. This gives her allies more space in the story, not less.
It's still Ling Qi doing the thing. It's even another person leaning on Ling Qi's doing of the thing. Yes, it gets other characters more screentime, but it doesn't budge the issue of the fundamental primacy of Ling Qi's efforts. In some ways it's an even more direct replacement of another character's contribution for Ling Qi's own. It's for sure a very narratively awkward dynamic, and it's proper to grumble about it.

However, in the interest of futility, I will lend it my whole and undivided vote.
[X] Constellation's Accompaniment

Long time Lurker here, its funny that this is the vote that finally motivated me to make an account, especially considering the last vote.

Constellation could be cool, but I think it would be better to focus on the stealth, perception, and hidden moon aspects of the art right now so that they are still part of the eventual successor. If we go all in on the support side now and then add HDW on top, I have a hard time seeing how you keep RME's current flavor from being buried.

[X] Merry Moon's Eye

I mean, if you object to support buffs in general (which is not invalid), then sure...

That's one slice of the possible uses of the technique. The start of this chain was focused on combat specifically. I'd argue that's where that sliver of potential has the most unsure application, because of action economy if nothing else. It's hard to load up people to use our funkier self-buffs in a fight, especially in numbers, and as it applies to things like mobility. Narratively and practically. It's complex and extremely context-dependent, contexts it's impossible for us to have even a basic grasp of because of all the different factors being interacted with that yrs shouldn't be wasting his time listing.

I'm still voting for it, but it's got bundles of issues with clarity and player foreseeability.

Ultimately I want something like this

Songseeker's Companions
The songseeker made many friends in her journeys.

Companion of the Songseeker (B-Rank)
Upkeep 10(?)

This technique marks a Companion that the user has a positive bond with by touching them, applying the other techs to them. Someone immediately ceases to be a Companion if they are more than <bond rating> km from the user

Succor of the Songseeker
The songseeker's companions were a strange lot and while they would eventually leave her, she would not let death take them easily. All Companions within <bond rating> km of the user receive a buff to their defenses commensurate with their bond rating towards the user.

A Companion may consume their mark in order to negate any attack that would incapacitate them (Shen bypasses). They cannot benefit from this more than one time in a scene

Path of the Songseeker
The songseeker's companions were a strange lot and while they would eventually leave her, she would never abandon them because they could not follow her path. All Companions within Near distance share the users' ability to move, sneak around, and survive within an environment. For instance a sneaking user's Companions would not be discovered if the user has not been and the user's Companions would all be able to fly or swim if the user can.

A Companion may consume their mark in order to teleport to the user's side, assuming the user is with Distance (<bond rating> km, basically this is an escape talisman)

Gifts of the Songseeker
The songseeker's companions were a strange lot and while they would eventually leave her, she would not let them go without giving them gifts to remember her by. All Companions within <bond rating> km of the user receive a buff to their health and qi regeneration commensurate to their bond rating.

A Companion may consume their mark in order to buff a technique as they activate it in a way that makes it reminiscent of the user's cultivation.

Rewards of the Songseeker
While everyone eventually leaves, some return bearing beautiful things. Companions may pay the upkeep cost themselves and this allows them to keep it in effect past the distance limit, though it cannot be activated while that's the case. They may also spend an action and C-Rank qi in order to immediately reapply the mark should it be consumed, though if it lapses then the user will have to reapply it.

Additionally the user gains the passive benefits as if marked by each of their Companions and said Companions can consume their marks (or spend the qi) to benefit the user instead of themselves. In the case of the teleport this is initiated by the user (ie "LQ wants to teleport to your location, is that okay?")

Unfortunately that's going to take a while to work up to.

Hrm..... I have no horse in this race. I'm going to have to pass on my vote....

OR WILL I?!

I shall sell my vote for one hundred hugs!

Okay, jokes aside, I kind of stopped following the mechanics a long time ago, so I have no real understanding of these, so I will be sitting this one out. Its funny, used to love being part of the math cabal, but suddenly... just not my thing.

Oh I really like this a lot.
I can see the argument that the Accompaniment might be the clunkiest to incorporate in the narration. It's the main reason I miss the boombox option; though it was similar in function it was a lot more evocative. SO basically if I this was a choice in a game I'd choose Constellation's Accompaniment without hesitation, but I think Merry Moon's Eye might translate better in the narration of scenes

[X] Constellation's Accompaniment
A good way to give Zhengui mobility.

I mean, we could just buy and fill a few qi cards for him.

From my perspective, a lot of our arts and most of our domain is dedicated to ally-buffing. I'd rather our surveillance art be very very good at surveillance than that it be another buff/debuff art.

I currently have my vote on Accompaniment, but since it's so close I figured that I really do have to be smart about this. Accompaniment seems like the type of thing we'd really want with Investment and the desired trajectory for Ling Qi's development. But, for those with the Big Plans, is this not what we should jump on?
