Breed like Tribbles, or fuse into a giant youma.Because apparently the cops have a herd of them quarantined somewhere in the quest, and I'm a little paranoid as to what they might get up to.
That was the one belonging to Shingo, I think? But wasn't there, like, a bunch of them the youma was trying to push on the kids before she was interrupted by Moon?
That's... an alarmingly possible take on it, now that I think about it.Tuxedo Mask's eyes slide over to Sailor Moon. "You noticed it, didn't you." He asks, "His Axe carries only traces of the curse that Beryl put upon it." There is a definite sadness to Tuxedo Mask's voice. "All of this..." The man says, looking down at the cages along the walls, and the civilians who Naru, Kagome, Inuyasha and the Policewoman are still helping through the portal on the far side of the cave. "He isn't under that woman's control when he did this. He did this of his own will." The blade in Endymion's hand quivers for a moment, before he sighs once more. "I don't know if he can come back from this."
That is... a very reasonable question."And Rei here is Sailor Mars." Usagi says, stepping closer to the dark haired Senshi.
"What... Exactly is all of this?" Rei asks, and Usagi sighs, nodding.
That was a very undeserved elbow because that entire subplot was all Sailor Moon's fault."Alright, once we all get out of here, let's meet up there, and we can try and explain everything." Usagi says, ignoring the way that Makoto groans behind her. Well, not completely, as the girl sharply elbows her friend.
...We can hope. Oh boy."Only because of Rei." The Policewoman says, a statement that causes Sailor Moon to laugh a little awkwardly.
"Uhm... Right, about that." Usagi says, trying not to worry the policewoman, but even those two words are enough to put the woman on edge. "Could you... not say anything about that yet?" She asks. Kimiko's look is flat, and Sailor Moon looks around even more awkwardly for a moment. "Just... For like a week or two?" She continues. "That's when we'll be doing our official... announcement thing? And Rei's shrine is already suffering from people blaming her grandfather for the abductions, and it would make her job so much harder if she has to deal with journalists always bugging her."
Kimiko blinks, "Oh, you mean not tell the media and the public?" Sailor Moon nods.
"I can't guarantee that," The woman admits, "But the Superintendent is a fan of Sailor V, so it is entirely possible that she would be willing to apply some pressure to make sure that miss Hino's identity doesn't get out." That statement surprises Kimiko by making Sailor Moon groan. She gives the powerful spellcaster a raised eyebrow, who just sighs in response.
As discussed, we can replace Rei as Manager when Alice becomes available in a week or two. I'm for it. Looking at the options, this indicates that Rei's statline is...[SAILOR MARS HAS JOINED THE SILVER MILLENNIUM!]
[WOULD YOU LIKE TO MAKE REI HINO A COUNCILOR?]
So, they haven't figured out much relevant about the Dark Kingdom (though Kimiko can probably tell them a lot). They won't have found the clock shop. They're definitely not learning much about Pretty Cure's whole... thing... which is probably a pity from their perspective because while it hasn't caused a lot of casualties it's caused a lot of conspicuous property damage by being a GIANT RAINBOW LASER that appears to be bombarding Tokyo from space or something.Shrine Abductions - [No Roll] - Event Concluded
Pet Shop Perfume - 99 - Regular Critical!
Midnight Zero Radio Broadcast - 92
Clock Shop Cop Killer - 22
The Dark Kingdom -56
Dotsuku Zone - 44
??? - 47
OK see, now that was clever of the cops. I've been talking about this for a while- mortals can fuck up Dark Kingdom operations even without having to outfight a youma."Tonight, on TV Asahi News at 8," The TV calls out, as the news station's musical jingle rolls out across the room, "The Tokyo Metropolitan Police continue their war against the newest crime organization to strike fear into the hearts of Japan's citizens. The DK. However, we open our night's edition with an emergency broadcast." The anchor says, as an image appears on screen.
An image that is familiar to three Tsukino family members on the couch.
"The Tokyo Metropolitan Police have put out an All Points Bulletin! This creature is known as a Chanella, a rare species from a currently unknown location. A store known as Pet Store Perfume was selling these creatures to unsuspecting children and families, heedless of the fact that the creatures are in fact, toxic.." Ikuko goes rigid, eyes wide. "Chanellas have a mildly toxic oil on their fur, of which prolonged contact with this toxin can cause obsessive tendencies, primarily focused on the Chanella itself, Paranoia, a loss of appetite, and lethargy. As of this morning, more than one hundred individuals have been hospitalized due to contact with these creatures. If you or a loved own are an owner of a Chanella, please contact the number below, and a Hazardous Materials team will be dispatched to your location as soon as possible in order to deal with the creature." A number rolls along the bottom of the screen, and Usagi can hear her mother repeat the numbers to herself before she stands, moving into the kitchen where the land line is.
Usagi looks over to her father, her eyes just as wide as his own. She'd thought that there was something strange about Shingo's new pet, but nothing on this level. Of course, she also knew that there was a chance that something was very wrong with her brother's pet, which was why she had been planning on going to check on the pet store with her own two eyes the next day.
Wait, who's "Collateral" again? Oh, right, that's Saito, the other guy who manifested magical abilities during the Cafe raid (see "Kimiko Quest").[TMP VS Perfume]
Rabbiroo - 1 + 10 = 11
Chanella Legion3; 4; 4; 3; 5; 7 = 26/8.25 = 3
'Collateral' - 9 + 12 = 21
Special Assault Team - 7; 9; 3; 2; 6; 5; 8; 5; 4; 7; 8; 3 = 67/ 4.4 = 15
Huh. All of which is literally true."The Tokyo Metropolitan Police acted quickly to shut down the distribution of Chanellas once this was discovered, and in doing so it was revealed that the Pet Store Perfume was ran by someone who had not only entered the country illegally, but the owner, a woman known only by the alias of 'Rabiroo' was discovered to be a member of the Terrorist Organization DK after being taken into custody. The specifics of the arrest are still confidential due to the ongoing investigation into other DK cells and the actions that they are taking part in."
Poor Usagi. On the other hand, this is fixable. From there, the news continues in a far more regular fashion, even as Usagi's mother continues to speak on the phone. It is only a few minutes following that the mother of two returns to the couch, her face pale as she all but collapses to her husband's side. Usagi glances down to Luna, and the cat looks up to her, unable to do anything more than shrug. Usagi wishes that she knew the right words to make her Mother feel better, but...
Well first of all that would require her to reveal her secret, which would first of all make her mother feel worse, but 'Hey, Shingo isn't poisoned, he's being attacked by an evil demon as part of a plot by an extradimensional evil that wants to destroy mankind!' Doesn't exactly... sound any better.
Actually, yeah. No. That sounds a whole lot worse.
I think Officer Meiko is an original character... I don't recognize the name.Usagi's eyes light up, standing aside to let the short woman through. There is something about the girl that draws Usagi's eyes, and she isn't sure what it is. The rest of the team follows after, into the house. Ikuko manages to pull herself up off of Kenji, and the three adults quickly speak to each other about how Shingo has been changing, not only his habits, but the way that he talks and interacts with everyone. The Medical team listens, and Usagi slowly makes her way down the hall, slipping into her room across the hall from Shingo's room.
Oh if you only knew..."I don't like this." Usagi hears one of the medical personal say as he moves down the hall to Shingo's door.
"I get that," the other medical personal says, this one sounding to be a woman. "But what exactly are you expecting we say to the lady, that her kid isn't poisoned, he's been cursed, or possessed, and that the problem is magic?"
"And we're just supposed to... what?" The man asks.
"Take the kid to the hospital. Same as the others." The woman says, sounding more frustrated to answer the man's questions than anything.
"And just wait and hope that the effect that these freaky things have put on these people goes away on it's own?" There is a soft smack, followed by the man going "Ow!"
"Quiet, the family has another kid, a daughter." The Woman says, "And unless you want to get fired for letting people know about magic, then shut up..."
All of a sudden, from the living room, the girl can hear her brother start to shout... The two medical professionals must have gotten their hands on the Chanella, which means that somehow the creature is connected to Shingo. Usagi wants nothing more than to pop out and use her magic on the creature, but she knows that now isn't the right time, not with the police right there.
Thankfully, a young boy isn't exactly a match for the police, and they manage to restrain the boy well enough. In the end, Ikuko decides to go with her son to the hospital, and Usagi is left alone with her father.
Well, we know... but the cops also know...The rest of the night passes quickly, and before long it is midnight, which means that it is time for the Midnight Zero radio broadcast. It has been a good while since the girl has had time to sit down and listen to the broadcast, but after everything that has happened tonight, she might as well allow herself a little time to rela-
"Good Evening Lovely Listeners, it's the midnight hour, and you all know what that means." Usagi's eyes snap open.
"No." She says quietly, staring at the ceiling for a long moment, trying to deny what her ears are hearing.
"This is DJ Jay Dait and tt's time for Midnight Zero on FM 10." Usagi rolls up, eyes wide as she stares at the radio.
"Usagi?" Luna asks, watching the girl, who simply points a finger at the radio, mouth open in horror. Luna looks between the two for a moment, "Look, I know that I'm not a fan of this silly radio show of yours, but if you like it then-"
"DJ. Jay Dait." Usagi says, dropping her head into her hands. "Why is Jadeite on the radio?"
Luna goes silent, eyes even wider than Usagi's as the Dark General continues to talk. "Tonight we have a very special love letter from a very lucky young lady. She's afraid to confess to the one that she loves, and hopes that the man she longs for is a listener. This is for you Miss Tendou."
"Are... Are you sure?" Luna asks, starting at the Radio.
"Y-yeah," Usagi confirms. "With everything that happened today, there is no way that I wouldn't be able to recognize his voice."
Luna's head tilts, "Then what is he doing on the radio?"
In what may be the surrealist moment of Usagi's life, she listens as one of the Dark Generals, who seems to be dedicated to the destruction of humanity reads a love letter from a girl trapped caring for her father and younger sisters towards a doctor that she is in love with.
I know there's no way in Hell he loses this fight, but... this just isn't Jadeite's day, is it?Yet the moment of surrealism quickly takes a shift for the different as there is a solid Bang!, that comes from the radio, the sound of a door slamming open.
Poor bastards. Yeah, they never had a chance.Jadeite - 9 + 27 = 36
Special Assault Team - 6; 9; 3; 6; 3; 2; 4; 5; 2; 9; 5; 9 = 63/ 4.4 = 14
"TM-" Two letters are yelled, before there is a sharp sound, followed by a very mechanical voice coming out of the radio instead. "Midnight Zero is currently experiencing technical difficulties. While our skilled technicians solve this issue, how bout we listen to some smooth jazz, and to start off us tonight, we have 'Nocturnal Mission' by Jon Scofield"
And just like that, the radio show is replaced by music.
The girls personally know an Akane Tendou and her red-headed catgirl friend.
Collateral wasn't even needed, the assault team could have solo'd this one.Anyway, they rolled... poorly, not well enough to handle Saito, and that left the SAT to mop up a bunch of killer demonic bunny rabbits. The kind that doesn't get cast in Monty Python skits.
Jadeite: "I... I didn't... I didn't even take any hostages this time..."
They could have rolled a one-in-a-trillion "twelve straight 10's" roll and they still would have lost that one.Good(?) news then with this update.
Though that police roll, ooph.
Plus at this point the 'council' titles are very much informal. Luna isn't actually doing anything as Spymistress except, y'know, being Luna. Naru isn't consciously 'Chancellor of the Moon Kingdom,' she's Usagi's best friend who does favors for her. Ami isn't our Grand Magister intentionally, she's just Ami-ing. About the only person who might on some level be conscious of having a 'job description' lined up with the nominal Council role is Makoto, who may feel at least some obligation or interest to see to it that Usagi gets some better martial arts training.EDIT: Right, remembered Alice, but that said-if we explain the temp thing to Rei, that can work.
If Usagi even knows where the radio station is (and she probably actually does, since she was planning to write them a letter once), then even at Sailor Moon speeds...Action time? that's about a clear of a call to transform and get over there now. we know where it is, we know combat is going down right now, and we know we can help. why would we stand by and do nothing?
As discussed, we can replace Rei as Manager when Alice becomes available in a week or two. I'm for it. Looking at the options, this indicates that Rei's statline is...
Diplomacy 10-14 (higher than I thought)
Martial 11 (low side, maybe Rei has a Prowess trait? Then again, her untransformed ofuda-fu is only good for so much)
Stewardship 15 (very high by our standards; Rei is probably familiar with politics and the logistics of shrinekeeping)
Intrigue 8 (meh)
Learning 10-13 (lower than Usagi's 13)
So she's fairly well balanced, surprisingly strong in Diplomacy and surprisingly (to me) weak in Martial.
I thought Usagi needs to visualize how a place looks like in her mind for her to successfully make that jump. For example, I know what the address for the regional passport office is because I had to send in my decennial renewal, but without Google Maps I have no clue what the building looks like or how the street it's on appears.
I think the police detained her, rather than killed her.We missed having Usagi face off against a rabbit youma. The irony would have been delicious.![]()
I suspect something weird is going on here.Well. I dunno. Just on the strength of what's portrayed, Zoisite could very well identify as male but like to crossdress, or have nonbinary gender identity that is not easily summed up as 'boy' or 'girl.' Silver Millennium characters in this quest seem to be pretty LBGT-friendly, so I don't think Endymion and Jadeite would both be calling Zoisite "he" most of the time if Zoisite had a definitively female gender identity.
while not always the case "master" is generally used to refer to males."No killing her." The other demons look to the beast, "Not the cat. I don't care what you do to the cat. But the giirrrrlll. If I have to assist Jadeite, then I am going to take a morsel back to Master Zoisite." One hand comes up, wiping the slobber from the creature's slavering lips.
Almost, as if in spite of himself, Jadeite answers, "And who was it that actually mistook Zoi for the Moon Princess?" He asks, "S-He was wearing one of शुक्र( Shukra's) dresses! Not even you- The Prince's damned moon girlfriend's dress!"
"You're imagining her in that dress, aren't you." Tuxedo Mask says,
Kasumi Tendou, Akane's eldest sister and homemaker.
Naru has indicated she is conscious of the position in one of her POV parts.
Wait. You know who this is supposed to be a reference to?
JSDF is going to get involved, probably. This is the fourth SAT raid. So far they've had two successes and three massacres of the team.
Again, Jadeite would almost certainly have teleported out instantly if he'd thought he was about to eat five elemental blast attacks and a Moon Tiara Action. Also, I STILL think the duel was a bad decision.. but I understand why he wanted it.
He WAS one of his most trusted knights AND friends..
I suspect that Sailor Venus will have a high enough Martial stat that we will have to very seriously consider whether she or Sailor Jupiter should be our Trainer. Makoto probably has the higher Prowess stat thanks to the Junoesque trait, sure... But Minako almost certainly has the top level of the Tuning trait (which turns some of the Prowess boost from the transformation into a permanent Martial increase), and is fairly likely to have some kind of 'veterancy' trait that would almost certainly go to Martial instead of Prowess. Or so I'd expect.I'll be honest? Do we really even NEED these votes?
Up to now every single councilor vote was an obvious choice. Except for maybe Naru.
The cops may be afraid to kill the chanelas for fear that the victims will be hurt by it. They have no idea how to cure curse victims, and while "blow up the youma" MAY work, they're taking their youma alive amazingly.I wonder what they do with the captured Chanellas. Vivisection to study them maybe?
That's if, say, they don't turn to smoke or ash once they're killed...
...well, the police is actually being useful! That's nice!
one less place to check for us!
I don't think we can easily convince them that the magic pot works. We could even give them the magical pot instead, so that the police could remove minor curses on their own!
This is the first time Usagi's tuned into the radio show in several days, possibly a few weeks. Two weeks ago was the middle of our first full turn. Meanwhile, we first got confirmation that Jadeite was the one running the Dark Kingdom's Tokyo operations in the middle of last week. It is entirely possible that Luna has literally never heard this radio broadcast since that time. Has not had it called to her attention that "Jay Dite" is the guy running the show. And she certainly wouldn't recognize Jadeite's voice, because she wasn't in the pocket dimension with us and I don't think she was inside the talent show conference center, either.1) Luna, do you REALLY need us to point it out to you? YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE OUR SPYMASTER!!
...Oh. Oh shit.3)...Tendou? really?
..wait, that means the eldest Tendou daughter will receive one of the cursed necklaces!
well, we have an excuse to meet Ranma and Akane again, it seems.
It's inside Tokyo and Usagi hopefully knows the address, because she was planning to mail a letter there.Teleport where? Does Usagi even know what the place looks like to visualize it?
@Lunaryon
I think he suspects:this reminds me that while we know Mamoru is Endymion, and he knows Usagi is Sailor Moon... he still doesn't know Usagi is also Serenity!
"The earth was controlled by a single kingdom, it was from then and there that I was originally born." Tuxedo Mask explains, "I..." For the briefest moment, Tuxedo Mask's eyes trail to Sailor Moon, but he quickly continues, "Who I was before doesn't matter, everything and everyone from that era are gone nonetheless.
Maybe Venusians just had a proud tradition of cosplay? Sailor Venus was Princess Serenity's body double, and Zoicite (who we know is "Zoicite of Venus" in this quest from the whole thing with Vajra) impersonated Sailor Moon in one episode of the old anime as part of a trap.Well.
