Hi everyone, long time lurker finally getting an account to vote instead of just watching!

But I just want to know if that's ok? I know some sites don't let you post and this kind of thread for a while.

Is that a rule in SV?
No, as long as you only have one account you are free to vote.

New accounts might get checked over by a mod if suspicion exists that they are rigging a vote, but as long as you don't have more than one account you are good.

We've had a lot of first-time voters. By all means, come out and make your voice heard. It's good to get the input of the silent majority.

Welcome to the place where the decisions are made! You don't have to be crazy to work here, but it helps.

If people want to set up funding, establish contacts and progress Waystone research, as has been stated many times, they should vote for the Waystone Project.

Please stop trying to frame other options as 'this will help the Waystone research actually", because it's very disingenuous and has been refuted many times.
I'm not. To clarify, what I really want to do is "set up funding, establish contacts and progress Waystone research" that's it while actually doing something else. I'm not interested in the Waystone project I was trying to convince people otherwise voting for Waystones that we could actually do it later because we'll always have it as an option and if they really didn't want to leave Waystones entirely by the wayside (pun unintended), we could spend some personal actions or whatever doing the first two things italicized.

Boney just above has said this won't really be a thing though so there goes that.

and none of them can muster a majority.
I don't think majorities are necessarily expected in this type of vote with many different competing options. I'm pretty sure that the last romance vote, for example, didn't end up with any majorities.

Majorities are rare in this type of vote because there are many people who vote for only one or a few options. So if, for example, there are six camps, and each has a significant amount of people that only vote for that camp, we'd expect each camp to get something weighted towards 1/6 of the vote because of the effect the one-pick voters have on the average. Whereas if most voters voted for everything-but-one, then we'd probably get all of the options having a majority.

Random realization I had in the car, spurred by Absoloot going through the thread: holy shit, Thorgrim is going to be devastated when he gets the report on Dum, because when Vlag's flow returned to the Karaz Ankor, so did Dum's. So he would have had hope, just as the thread did, that the impossible had happened and his people were alive and well and maintaining their Hold in the face of... well, all the everything. He would have carried that secret hope for weeks, waiting for any news of the Expedition, believing that maybe Belegar's Zhufokri might manage yet another miracle.

And then he's going to get the news that Dum may not have held out at all, but committed acts the Karaz Ankor finds unconscionable, and that'll hurt all the more for the weeks that he had reason to believe they were there to be saved. The Norse Dwarves all over again, that's what it will feel like to him.

I'm fine with any of the top 4, but now I find myself wanting more than before that we get Loremaster-at-large or Waystones, so that we have a chance to ever talk to him about this. Because damn, I believe axiomatically that knowledge is better than ignorance, but sometimes knowledge sucks.

Agonizing over how long to hold out with one vote for my preferred voice and when to start doing an oppositional "literally anything but waystones, literally anything" vote.
At least the Waystones won't be the final bit of the Quest, most likely. We'll probably get to do something else after that.

"literally anything except more Karak Eight Peaks" is a much bigger problem with the votes.

i mean... We've done that, it's over. We're literally a Dwarf soul now, time to move on.

At least the Waystones thing, fraught with problems as it's going to be, is magical research, which is in our wheelhouse.

I think a waystone project would get us some facetime with Thorgrim eventually.
Because he, of all the dwarves, knows how important the waystones are and if we start mucking about near them he will want to know why, and what, and also how.

I want a private conversation between Thorgrim and Mathilde so badly. At least a conversation is going to happen, since we missed Thorgrim at Vlag, but one that peels back the layers of secrecy he's hiding under would be amazing.

[X] Markgraf of Eastern Stirland

[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred

If Bodyguard can climb back up, I will switch back to only it, but Markgraf is my second choice among the top four.
