welp,

- We will have to kill the fire dragon, as they have a lot fo grudges against them.
- Mathy has admitted in quest that she cant fix the racial depression.
- I don't like the whole 'your a dwarf' thing, frankly its insulting. (you're a credit to your kind)
- We have Kraggs Character sheet. its not his fault its Yes/No based.
- it's always our discretion whether to do a job and how. If they want us to kill the dragon and that's it, then we don't take that particular job. Belegar will never fire us over it.
- the specific phrasing implies that she can't force them to change their outlook, but that doesn't necessarily mean the outlook won't change. Plus, you know, long-term goals. YOu can't do things until you succeed.
- the part about being a Dwarf is mostly a joke about "Dwarf infection". I don't think we'll ever actually want to consider ourselves a Dwarf, not unless the Empire epically screws us over somehow.
- we don't. That was a joke. Boney said seeing the real character sheet is an eventual possibility though.

[x] The Waystone Project
They need fixing, they're cool, I want to see Mathilde create the movement to fix them.

I wanted to fight the rats, so I guess I'll approval vote for tutor, since we might fight rats there.

Weren't there actual lizardpeople mercenaries active in the old world?
Also it would be kinda rude to go naming other people, especially if you do it as an insult, they have names already.
Huh. I have not heard of Lizardmen mercenaries. I'd have thought the whole are they scalely Beastmen???" concerns would prevent it from the human side at least.

You did it correctly, no worries. Thank you for coming out to vote!

Genuine question: what about it is unappealing? Because I'm looking forward to a mix of "dealing with interesting characters like Vicereine Cadaeth," "visiting cool places like Laurelorn," "getting to work on a project with Panoramia," and "delving into magical secrets." Like, if that's not your jam, by all means vote against it, but it seems like the thread has a bunch of different beliefs about what the Waystones project would look like, so I'm curious about what specifically you find unappealing.

(Other people who have posted variants of "I don't like this" or "this is boring," feel free to answer as well.)
See Artemis' reply below. As the vote has progressed I've been leaning towards the same mindset. And Idk something about how the project has been framed has reminded me too much of why I left academia. Too much wrangling of people and funds.

I think for me the Waystone project is one of my least favorites (though I still wouldn't complain), simply because it doesn't play to Mathilde's personal skills or inclinations.

The majority of the job will be coordination, her personal learning and research can only come into play in the later stages and even then matter comparativly little next to whatever experts on these things we could gather from Elves, Dwarfs and Colleges.

It's so indirect that I'd rather get my research-jollies by working on some nice items and papers in our free time next to another job, rather than playing coordinator for a research-project beyond our personal abilities.
Like I siad above, honestly starting to lean this way too.

Really close 4 top options, huh. Any of them could win. For my part, I really like all of them except probably Bodyguard, since, as stated before, not a super fan of going back the Empire and getting involved in local politics. Although Loremaster is my actual top favorite. I mean, consider:

- further helping Dwarfs out of racial depression
- dealing with dragons
- practically always being the foremost magic expert in the area
- often being the tallest person in the area
- being accepted by the average person you interact with
- still living in K8P, where all of our stuff is
- getting to go on shorter adventures whenever there's mood for it
-- and bringing people like Johann and Egrimm with
- mingling with the Dwarfs so much that being considered a Dwarf stops being weird
- eventually, probably getting access to Kragg's character sheet
- infinite headpats
- hanging out with Belebro the Bro King

What's not to love?

(Note: obviously, a few of the above benefits apply to some of the other jobs, but not very many, I think)
Uh wanted to note that being Loremaster-at-Large for a Dwarf Karak is probably the least likely to get us the ability to poach Engrimm and Bodyguard the most likely. Rest of your list is valid and I have to say Idk, I like Heidi, I like the chance to be around Altdorf and the colleges more (not to mention Im pretty sure most of our socials even at K8P were with wizards) and I want to help the Empire by kicking at its weird shit.

Huh. I have not heard of Lizardmen mercenaries.
Tichi-Huichi's Raiders.

They work for Plaques, and tend to be cheaper as costs go than an amount of gold for a similar group.

Egrimm specifically said he's down for more adventures, and Loremaster will involve some adventures. If we need other wizards, he's the first person we'll ask (well, after/in addition to Johann). You are right that Bodyguard may also involve inviting him for adventures though - on the other hand, Bodyguard will also involve politics, and he's unlikely to want to participate for that. (Then there's the question of how likely his Patriarch is to let him participate in stuff - that one's hard to predict)

Ah, golf, the latest in a long line of modern anachronism BoneyM will sensibly prevent us from inventing.

It's a shame, as I imagine Warhammer golf would be considerably more exciting, what with having to avoid beastmen attacks from the woods and Skaven tunneling under the sand traps.

"It's a good swing, the distance is well measured, but the ball just missed the green. A hole in two is still possible, but three is more likely. This could make the difference in points."

"He lines up with the green, can he make this a hole in t- oh, a hazard has entered the field. He's switching clubs, fine choice, the driver is the best choice for fending off the approaching gor."

"He's dispatched the beast with alacrity, likely avoiding a time penalty from the judges, but the bent club may cost him on later holes. Now let's see if he can make that hole in two."

"Hole fifteen now, and it's a magnificent shot. On the green only feet from the hole- oh, but wait, a small band of goblins seem to have emerged from the undergrowth and had their attention drawn by the ball. Oh dear, they've absconded with the ball! He better stop them before they get too far. If they drop the ball in the rough that could add two or three extra strokes to his score."

"And the last goblin falls dead and our competitor seems a bit woozy himself, but gamely continues. He's resorting to the putter, as all the other clubs are either bent or thoroughly stained with goblin. Not ideal for the terrain, but the best of available options."

I know Swamp Town isn't going to Winn, but I just love the lizardmen so freaking much lol.

*cough the wizard the precursor to whose order maintained the Old World Waystones for thousands of years and also with whom we are sleeping cough*

Wow, it's dusty in here.

EDIT I AM A MORON AND DIDN'T REALIZE THIS WAS ABOUT L-A-L AND NOT WAYSTONES

you're saying that like picking the job that will put us between the High King and Bro-king and Bad dwarf-dad will not have politics.

to be clear, I like politics, but I'm hearing a lot of 'no politics' as the reason to vote/not vote for option.

guys, we are high enough ranked that everything we do can count as politics.

Wait isn't Stirland explicitly Skaven free here? They initially popped up there but have since harvested all the Warp stone they could and fucked off elsewhere. I see the appeal of stomping on Vampires more but if you mainly wanna stomp on Skaven that seems more likely with the other three.

Oh wow. Huh. So maybe a chance for friendly (non immediate life threatening at least) lizardmen contact after all?

I think Egrimm personally is going stir crazy/resentful of his position and would leap at any chance for an adventure whether it's accompanying Mathilde to stomp on Skaven or Beastmen on a Heidi task or exploring Fire Dragon caves for Belegar. The main blocking factor is that he is under the thumb of Alaric. I think I agree with whoever said working for the Empress and therefore Emperor directly is the most likely path we'd have for getting past that specific political obstacle. Dwarfs are still a foreign power that do not have as much leverage over Alaric a Patriarch of the Light College.

I am interested in Markgraf and Loremaster At Large for their own sakes. I am also interested in fighting rats, because the Skaven are fun to fight.

@picklepikkl I think part of the reason some prefer seeing anything except Waystones win is that fundamentally, Waystones is starting a new journey while leaving other plotlines unfinished and vulnerable, in relative terms. Most of them are deeply rooted in Mathilde's actions.

- Bodyguard ensures Ranald's gambit succeeds, beginning from Mathilde mugging Mork.
- Markgraf ensures Abel's legacy succeeds, beginning from Mathilde destroying Castle Drakenhof.
- Spymaster ensures Nuln's counter-attack doesn't backfire, beginning from Mathilde spreading news of the Third Skaven Civil War.
- Loremaster ensures the Karaz Ankor's resurgence isn't a fluke, beginning from Mathilde joining K8P's reconquest.

Don't get me wrong, Waystones have the biggest impact of all the options. They're an integral part of WHF's Deep Lore so we'd be exploring new discoveries with them.
... But at the end of the day, they represent the start of a new book, where I'd personally rather see the epilogue of the previous one. And unlike the others, Waystones isn't a time-sensitive option so it can wait for when we're ready.
