I really hope all the votes for "Waystones and nothing else" don't mean that those folks are already committed to the Waystone project and will be utterly unmoved at the idea of doing anything else.
If they aren't even willing to vote in favor of looking at something else, then barring something amazing coming up in our job investigations and changing everyone's mind, I see little chance for something else winning. I guess all of the [-] options still have the chance of being actually very popular, but on the other hand many people right now also voted for many more options than they are actually interested in doing. Like, I didn't even vote for my top choices.

[X] Loremaster-at-Large of Karak Eight Peaks
I want to see what sorts of things this would involve, even if I don't really want to go this route.
[X] The Waystone Project
I want more information on this, and it's among my top picks even without that. If there's a way to enact large-scale runic/magical effects, that's a strategic-level change. Also, probably best chance at getting to ask Thorgrim "What is all this power being used for?"
[X] Markgraf of Eastern Stirland
I'm not entirely sure I want this, but I do want to see why Roswita thinks Mathilde is needed to jump on Sylvania until it stops misbehaving.
[X] Spymaster of Wissenland
Also lower on my list, but I want to see how bad the skaven situation is there...
[X] Ambassador-at-Large to the Karaz Ankor
My opinion on this depends greatly on further information. Could be interesting, could be very bleh. Probably not as interested in this as other options.
[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred
Heidi. *poke* *poke* What'cha doing, Heidi? Are you up to shenanigans? You're up to shenanigans. What sort?
[X] Governor-General of Swamp Town
I'm not really interested in taking the offer, but I very much want to know who's behind it, and why they are offering it.

I'm deliberately not going to check the vote tally before posting this, because I don't want my initial impressions skewed by thread bias yet (there's very much a place for seeing where the thread is at before deciding, but this is still the "what are you interested in hearing more about" stage). I've spoken for Loremaster-at-Large before, but with the caveat that I want to know more about how Belegar sees its possible political implications playing out (to boil down an effortpost drastically). Which, investigating what the position means would fall in line with. Waystones I'm also very much in favor of and have spoken for before, as that should get us involved in a lot of interesting scenarios and places while pursuing a project of very great import.

Regarding the others...
Markgraf: I explicitly don't want a heritable title, as that feels too much like being tied down. Our knightly fief can quite easily thrive from an extended state of benevolent neglect, but a full-bore County or Barony would almost certainly be a different story IMO. But seeing our old friends, finishing up Abelhelm's project of pacifying Sylvania, and getting to spend more time building our relationship with Roswita all has a certain appeal. I'd like to at least hear more about it, even if for no other reason than letting Roswita know we're taking her seriously when she reaches out to us like this.

Spymaster: A lot of the appeal of this one to me (besides getting to go full-bore Intrigue Shenanigans again) is that it strikes me as likely to be a comparatively defined problem that plays squarely into a very well-developed skillset of ours. As such my suspicion is that this would likely be a relatively short-term posting, providing events don't go poorly or spiral out of control of course (and if they do, that suggests they REALLY need us there). So this looks to me like a way to provide significant aid to the Empire - stirred-up Skaven under the source of the Empire's artillery are bad news - and boost our cred among its movers and shakers, then move on to a new set of options based on our success. And getting more details on it should help to confirm or deny this impression.

Bodyguard and Tutor: "Heidi, what are you planning??? Don't just smirk mysteriously at me Ranalddamnit, that's my move!"

Ranaldian High Priest: Unlocking a whole new country for our oldest friend would be kind of a big deal, and Kislev isn't exactly known for having a shortage of intrigue and magical bullshit to keep things spicy. And we've hardly been covert about our Ranald worship anyway.

Swamp Town: On the face of it, I actually really really don't want this one. But I am interested in having Mathilde take the interview to go "Yeah but why tho? Seriously bro literally why."

60 pages behind except for threadmarked things (such an unfortunately familiar feeling), so I've probably missed some relevant arguments, but what I want to do is a research sabbatical, possibly preceded by the Kislev thing, and then focus on Waystones.

But I still want to know what's up with UnderNuln/"tutoring"/Lustria, so I'll still vote for those purely for investigation:

Panoramia is not required to stay at Karak Eight Peaks there are still years of work she could do but she could be replaced by another wizard and join us and for some options, like Lustria she would be a great help dealing with the jungle and keep the colony healthy.

So she could just up and leave her job, contractual obligations, extended social circles, and her personal grand ambitions because we felt like multi year trip to a jungle would be interesting?
Sure, she could, but i somehow doubt it, and would feel very awkward, if not downright guilty, for asking.

Sooooo, what do I want to hear more about?

Because the others I think are mostly clear to me what they'll involve, or else (Waystones) unlikely to learn anything more before really committing to it.

Yes, but so would any Jade Wizard by that logic. The most useful, however, would probably be a Light Wizard who can cast Light of Purity:

"In casting this spell, you light a fire of any size from candle to campfire. All those within the area illuminated by that flame (its Maximum Vision; see WFRP, page 117) automatically pass any Toughness Tests necessary to resist any disease for as long as the flame burns. The fire may be increased in size (by adding more fuel to a fire, for example) and even split into multiple fires (such as by lighting a second candle with a first). In the latter case, "child" fires have the same full effects as their "parents," and the effect lasts for all those illuminated by any of the fires until such time as they go out."

This would pretty much solve all of Swamp Town's health problems in one fell swoop.

Different does not automatically equate to better.

We can absolutely build a better future in K8P. We have been doing so.
A large part of why I want to stay in Karak Eight Peaks is the amount of infrastructure we've invested in here. Whether that's personal or institutional or in the literal towers we've built. I want Mathilde's story to be one of not only accomplishing great deeds and making a name for herself, but also of making a place and building a home for herself. It's something we were on our way to doing in Stirland, and it's something we're doing now. Except this time, we're not getting fired.
Yeah, this is how I feel. I have zero doubt that Boney could tell a kickass story with a kickass set of characters and kickass worldbuilding in literally any of the potential environments. I am not concerned about "oh maybe the quality will go downhill when we leave K8P." But I want this quest to not just be the story of L. M. D. T. etc. Mathilde Weber roving around righting wrongs, but also of her building a home. Having friends. Having family. I love the relationships we build and the character moments within them, and I'd like to keep deepening them and seeing how they evolve. Like, yes, in theory we can keep up with people via social actions if we leave (though probably not in Lustria), but the degree to which we split between K8P and Stirland/Empire characters already has led to lots of frustration and arguments, and making that worse just seems very bad.
The intent of it is to get on top of our horrendous, ridiculous backlog so it isn't quite so overwhelming and we aren't leaving tonnes of potentially huge magical advances and plot threads on the floor. Especially since people voted to increase the research queue again in the Chaos Dwarf city.

Actually investigate the Tongs option and put to bed the whole "is it totally useless?" debate. Put 3 actions into AV and we can literally complete every experiment we know of except directly weaponizing it. Or get the apparitions project completed, or research the coin. I just want to get to the point where we aren't literally unable shake loose actions to work on our major long running plots for multiple turns. I don't mind if it only lasts even 2 turns if it meant we actually devote all our free personal actions (or more if we have our wizards along) to making tangible progress with these long running plot threads.
Well-said. It is very frustrating that on the one hand the thread consistently votes to add to our to-do list but on the other consistelty doesn't vote to do the things on the list. One year of research sabbatical wouldn't be bad at all; we don't even need Max and Johann for it, really, if it turns out hiring them is too hard.

I strongly recommend just opening up BoneyM's recent posts, getting up to date on those, and then just skimming the last few pages. During the time we were at Dum when I had no energy to follow the thread actively through all the arguments, I did a lot of that and it worked well.

I think there is lot to learn about the waystone project before we commit to it.
Getting better grips on just what we already know, what kinf of aid we could expect from the Eonir, how much help we could hope from the runesmiths guild, is there major interest among Karaz Ankor over it, any potential reactions from Thorgrim...

Sure we have a fairly solid grasp on goals, and a decent OC understanding of what a success would look like, but exploring it more would be useful i think.

Oh right, voting. That thing you have to do if you want the things you want to happen to actually happen.

[X] Loremaster-at-Large of Karak Eight Peaks
I am still loyal to Belegar and still want to work for him. This is the most direct and obvious way to do it.

Also, the "figure out what this means" part of the update will include our Lord, and I kinda want to include him in our thoughts.

[X] The Waystone Project
And no, it's not because I am tempted by studying the nigh-unlimited power the waystones hold. I have enough trouble convincing the thread to use the power we already have, no need to add more to it...

The Waystones are a promising line of research that will require coorperation with many various polities, and giving BoneyM a reason to write more semi-xenofiction is always, always a good idea. Also, this is like the one job where our girlfriend's skills can be relevant, and I really like her.

[X] Governor-General of Swamp Town
... Look, I know this looks weird right after I said I like PanPan, but Lizardmen are one of the at most three Warhammer factions I actually know something about and, like I said, any excuse for BoneyM to write xenofiction adjacent stories is to be taken.

Plus, I want to see what kind of genius( idiot) thought of choosing Mathilde for this position.
