[X] Loremaster-at-Large of Karak Eight Peaks
Or you could push Belegar to continue sending you afield. He does want to continue to enhance the stature of Karak Eight Peaks in the Karaz Ankor, and what better way to do that than for you to travel it and solve all their strangest problems? It would also mean getting to see every corner of the Dwarven world and encounter all the strangest phenomenon it would have to offer.

[X] The Waystone Project
Or you could turn to the biggest possible project. on your plate. The Laurelorn Elves have voiced their desire to work with you to unravel as many secrets as possible about the network in the slightly inaccurate belief that you already have some of those secrets. This might be the only chance to pool the knowledge of the Laurelorn, the Empire, and the Karaz Ankor, and for a project that could do wonderful things. Sure, you doubt you'll be able to replicate the combined efforts of the Elves and Dwarves at their heights, but every scrap of understanding of the existing network could make all three peoples better able to protect and make use of the ancient energy streams.

[X] Ambassador-at-Large to the Karaz Ankor
An Ambassador is appointed to a single polity, whereas an Ambassador-at-Large has broader rights for many more places. In this case, for the entire Karaz Ankor. A prestigious and important position, and one that might be a stepping stone into even greater positions within the administrative infrastructure of the Empire. You may not be quite as diplomatic as other candidates might be, but you pride yourself on your understanding of Dwarves and your reputation amongst them is, to put it mildly, rather good.

[X] Border Princess of the Howling River
With Karak Vlag returned, the only pass through the World's Edge Mountains that is not dominated by an existing Dwarfhold is Mad Dog Pass. It seems that Barak Varr wants to change that. Many have tried to make something useful of the sprawling, anarchic lands known as the Border Princes over the year, and one of the few times it was managed was almost two thousand years ago, when Emperor Sigismund the Conquerer established the province of Lichtenberg. With Dwarven support, perhaps you can follow in his footsteps.

[X] Nagarythe
For delivering a Druchii that had been working with Clan Moulder to the Nagarythian Ulthuan Ambassador, you were given a token that will allow you to live and fight alongside them for ninety-nine days. There's no time limit on it except for your lifespan, all you have to do is arrive in Lothern and present the token. You did just complete quite an adventure, but perhaps that whetted your appetite enough for another.

It kinda feels like Elfacation doesn't really belong on the list as of now, because it suffers from being one time thing instead of prolonged job, and we know we are suffering from overwork. Or should be anyway, last i recall?

Mathilde is going to rest and wrap things up before she embarks on anything, and while it might be relatively short for Mathilde, it probably wouldn't be for us.

In order from most preferred to least preferred as eventual roles (though I would like to get Nagarythe done before anything else):

[X] The Waystone Project

Overall, I'm inclined towards something that would maintain a link to K8P, due to Mathilde's established roots there, as well as my preference as a reader for a degree of continuity from the previous few arcs rather than jumping to something completely different. Of the Karaz Ankor-linked options, the Waystone Project is easily my most preferred. Ambassadorship doesn't appeal and the Loremaster-at-Large option seems to run counter to the 'Belegar may now need a more traditional Loremaster' idea, which I find compelling. But Laurelorn and the Waystones are both interesting threads to pursue.

[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred

I don't have strong feelings about this option, but it seems like it'd be quite interesting to read.

[X] Markgraf of Eastern Stirland

I do like Roswita as a character, and a return to Stirland wouldn't be an unwelcome direction for the Quest to go. I'm inclined against the Count of Stirland option because I'd rather stay far away from dynastic themes and House-building -- I'm not particularly interested in a hereditary position. I am a little concerned about the Markgraf position seeming more akin to a ruler than an advisor/councillor, however, as that's another direction that I'm leery of, but I'm still happy to investigate it.

[X] Governor-General of Swamp Town

I have zero interest in actually doing this but it's a curious enough offer that I wouldn't mind seeing it investigated.

These four I want to know more about:
[X] Spymaster of Wissenland
[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred
[X] Governor-General of Swamp Town
[X] The Waystone Project

Unless we can expect a lot of free time or it's more interesting that written, I probably won't vote for the Mandred job right now. Might do it if it comes up again in 5-10 turns, but not right now.

I'll probably vote for doing research and/or becoming Spymaster and dealing with the rats instead, with the goal of revisiting the vote once Mandred is a bit older.

Wait,
if we choose to be the Emperor son's bodyguard, does that mean Grey graduates will be tested against our security as part of their exams? We get to troll young Greys as part of the job? Count me in!

@pucflek
But this is really just my general thoughts.
We're not suffering from overwork in my opinion. We have long been having the mentality of someone who is overworked and is swamped in yet more work.
There is research we can do, but we could leave our job tomorrow and everything would be fine. Everything we are involved in with K8P others are also involved with and those people are perfectly capable.
We might want to think about the Skaven in our prison, but we have been gone for a while now and he's probably been fine.

There's no real obligations we have right now, except for being useful to the Empire, which is an obligation we have at all times, but is rather easy to fulfill. Even the sabbatical could still be that, but we would have to contribute in other ways I think. Especially if the sabbatical would be very long.

[X] Spymaster of Wissenland
[X] Ranaldian High Priest of Kislev
[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred
[X] Border Princess of the Howling River

Basically I feel like the waystone project is more likely to actually help the dwarves than both of the at large options.

Honestly, I kind of only want to be High Priest of Ranald McDanald if it happens to us as a complete surprise when we get an award ceremony from other faiths for our exceptional dedication to inter-faith cooperation.

For the Waystones, I feel like we should be building up to it more. I don't want there to be a 1d6 chart where a one is turning off the Rune of Valaya across the Karaz Ankor

[x] Loremaster-at-Large of Karak Eight Peaks
[x] Count of Sylvania
[x] Markgraf of Eastern Stirland
[x] Ambassador-at-Large to the Karaz Ankor

[x] The Waystone Project
[x] Swamp Town
[X] Border Princess of the Howling River

Being a border princess sounds really interesting, definitely more interesting than being the Markgraf or Spymaster, but I doubt that it can win the decisive vote. I'd also be happy with the waystone project.

[ ] Ranaldian High Priest of Kislev
Mmm. Shenanigans.

Though on further reading, this might not be quite the insta-pick that I thought it was. I just slightly dislike how it seems we'd be focused the Kislev side of the world. Sure, the mysteries are interesting, and the lore could be facinating, but it just seems too disconnected for Dwarf!Mathilde to suddenly stay in Kislev.

What's the dwarven territory situations in the Kislev area anyway? Could this be a chance for Norse Dwarf dungeon diving?

This, surprisingly turned my opinion now that the full update is out.

I am now really tempted to do this for some reason.

I'll vote after sleeping on it

The Norse Dwarves holds are deep into Norsca and would be difficult and dangerous to reach, but Karak Vlag is right next to Kislev.
