Yeah Sam needs some perspective on his shit considering that he can fly and shoot fireballs. Sure he isn't an archmage but he would fit right in with the uppermost mages in the Empire...that aren't traumatized.

He actually has not learned offensive spells like fireballl yet. He's just made level five and his two chose spells are
  1. Arcane Sight (because it helps with the study of magic)
  2. Fly (because it's flight)

@DragonParadox, do we have any clues IC as to which methods might succeed in pulling information out of Aboleth's corpse?
This is reasonable point ot ask Gith allies whether they have any ideas, off-screen.

Oh wait.

Not easily They tried to use psionic Speak with dead, same effect, too much madness and far realm influence. They could try to perform more complex rituals in the hope of getting something, but you would have to hand over the corpse and there is not guarantee it will work.

but you would have to hand over the corpse
Frankly I am a-okay with that.
He's still getting added to Duesal's hall of horrors, and he's not Psionic so useless for our research next month.
The only worth to be got out of the body is the answers it holds, so even a chance at them is good enough.

Viserys: "Check out this...beauty. You would not believe the shit we had to do to reach it, and killing it? You don't event want to know."

A wizard feature was their ability to add spell via books and scrolls right? Sam should be able to expand his selection easier than most.

Correct, there's no hard limit to the number of spells a Wizard can learn. Material cost is a soft one, time another.

Cute trick: A wizard (and other classes working similarly) can even learn spells they are not able to cast yet. Neat if one has downtime now and is expecting to level up later, perhaps when situation or locale does not permit the time taken.

Yep. I have a trophy stuffed and displayed, you guys can do whatever with the full corpse.

That said Azel could probably make an amazing undead out of this thing.

Wait, really? I thought for sure we did. We stabilized undead already.

Is it just that we haven't gotten around to making our own mummies yet?
What would we have the mummies do though? We are not hurting for dumb muscle and we have no volunteers among our PCs for becoming undead. Which is why I keep looking for a source of souls that would be willing to be brought back as higher undead with some class levels.

@DragonParadox @Azel

I mean, the way I see it, if Samwell showcases his spells (plus Lya mentions he learned how to tame fire and make it into his puppy in a few days of practice), we could also mention as a Prepared Caster, he has an innate advantage that Viserys himself lacks (even if we have essentially made it immaterial).

He can just look at spell formulae that other mages have created and... learn them. There are mages older than him with access to maybe a few dozen spells.

Samwell, if he never advances further, and with his studious nature, will have access to over a hundred and fifty in no time. He will also have a level of combat ability and utility outstripping most Lords in Westeros, and will probably be more strategically useful to his liege to boot (for a variety of reasons, but the least of them having to do with fighting and leading).

I honestly see little point in verbally berating Randyl over this, as little has convinced him that he is so innately mistaken with regards to less martial pursuits. Not when just effusively praising the obvious progress his son has had and how we clearly value it greatly in a vassal would do.

PC work, I guess? That or guarding important locations for us. But point on needing volunteers. :/ Closest thing I can think of is if any of the Salloshi ghosts feel like a change in body but don't want to return to life.
