Skaven Breeders are highly valued in their society (since the Skaven are kinda dependent on a high birthrate), to the point where even when a clan looses, their females are kept alive and brought back to the winning clan.

So if Qrech thanks us from killing one, one that's presumeably still with Clan Moulder even, then we've succesfully dragged his loyalty away from the rest of Skavendom.

...Ah, okay. I mean, when you said extended family I figured it would be all the other rats spawned by said broodmother, not necessarily the mother herself, so that was where the thanks part came from. You do make a fair point though.
