I love that we've somehow reached the point where we do things like solve a 200 year old mystery even Teclis couldn't crack by accident.

Amusingly there is going to be a faction that thinks this is why Mathilde agreed to come on the expedition. They will never believe we didn't plan this.

Fuck, I hope this doesn't permanently strand Karak Vlag in the Warp... That's just too cruel to the inhabitants, especially if it comes about as a direct result of Mathilde's actions. I accept that risk because it's a story, not real life, but holy hell will I feel awful.

I suspect that if it gets stuck in the warp we'll just unclog the waystone in a few days, and the connection will be reestablished. Chaos has a vested interest in keeping their backdoor open, so I imagine they could get things back on track once the power supply turns back on.

And we weren't even running the Gambler! Just being in the right place at the right time with the right set of master-level skills.

Though, really, now that I think about it, our combination of paranoia, mental-effect resistance training, and incredibly good windsight is probably unique, isn't it? Plus we were here at the right time.

Just Meowthilde being Meowthilde, expect instead of dragging a dead bird to a door she dragged a lost Karak back to reality.

Man, the discussion after the chapter went by so fast it was like a pack of hounds being released to hunt for whatever they can reach.

Also the first few pages after the threadmark were all surprisingly coherent baring a few repeated questions.

It would just be peak Mathilde to set off on a Hold-reclaiming expedition, but reclaim the wrong Dwarfhold.
Outstanding unpredictability. Who else would divert a whole Throng of Dwarves from the goal that they've been preparing for for years (and in some cases, literally their entire life) ?

Plans within plans. Mathilde seeks to replace a certain someone as the god of magic, or at least that's what it thinks.

Okay, so here's where I'm at:

Barring the magical Ranaldtag land scenario where the Chaos occupying force is entirely comprised of demons that suffer critical existence failure after a week, and where the Vlag dwarves have held out enough that they can garrison the Karak after we relieve them, I don't think we can feasibly reclaim Vlag right now.

What I do think we have an excellent chance of doing if we play our cards right is setting Vlag up for a reclamation some years down the line. Turn off the power to deactivate their defences, then infiltrate inside and utterly wreck whatever ritual and/or enchantment was being used to sustain the effect. Even if chaos forces regroup and regain control over the Karak, they won't be literally hidden in the Warp anymore and conventional forces will be able to flush them out.
This is true, but the attendant problem is that the conventional forces that flush them out won't necessarily be friendly conventional forces. Skaven and Greenskins would be happy to take up residence. Given Vlag's location, the Chaos Dwarves would also be interested in having an outpost to defend Uzkulak's flank. As would basically anyone else interested in holding High Pass, really.

If this works, then an cleanup attempt needs to happen as soon as possible.

Being fair, we'd know about this before any destruction faction. We could (probably) at least have a force of Kislevites here in decent time.

Just got to tell Tzar Vladimir that he can be declared eternal Dwarf-friend by just devoting a few rota of Kossars to squat in a mountain until the Dwarfs arrive.
