Too many unknowns to say whether the plan will actually work. And even if the plan proceeds perfectly, there's the risk that interrupting the spell simply locks Karak Vlag in the Warp permanently. Which would be, uh, awkward.

! Sudden realization. If we shut off this Waystone upstream, if there are any survivors inside the Karag, chances are that it'll shut down any form of runic defensive works at the same time.

seriously guys i don't think we should mess with this if we mess up we can send the karak there permanently. let the people who are really good at this handle it.

Mathilde: But wait, there's more! Call now and we will double the offer. That's right two karaks for the price of one. But a deal this good can't last forever, so call now before a horde of demons destroys the world.

They won't be infinite if we take them out of the warp, is the point, if I understand it correctly.

Okay, fair point, not literally endless then. Replace that question with the same thing but "an entire Karak full of demons" - which admittedly isn't as tall of an order, but still seems a bit much for our few-hundred-strong force.

A clogged Waystone in an unpopulated area outside of the borders of the Old World and halfway into the Chaos Wastes would be extremely far down the list of priorities. Mathilde would have to spill major Dwarven secrets to communicate why anyone should care about this.

Doesn't Algard know about the existence of a dwarf network form the report on the Eonir meeting?

For lower ranked but closer situated Magisters couldn't Mathilde simply pull rank? Maybe ruffle some feathers or promise some dwarf goodies?

Okay, I may have missed this in the mass of discussion up until now, but: do we have any reason to believe the forces of the expedition are sufficient to hold off a literal endless tide of demons for multiple consecutive days?

They wont be infinite, and the timelimit is roughly two days, I do think the expedition has the right mix of forces to absolutely murder thousands of daemons in a pitched battle pretty easily due to the mix of massive numbers of cannons and monster cavalry + dragon + wizards. The land ships can be used to make fixed explacements and killing fields due to the cannons, the dragon makes for one hell of an aerial artilery piece that can bombard the incoming forces with dragon fire. To say nothing of the battle magic we have available.

Too many factors that could go wrong, or come back and mess with us later on messing with Waystone in any manner. For now, we can think about Karak Vlag on the way to and back to Karak Dum and next time with a full force to face Vlag properly.

Mathilde randomly popping a Dwarf Karak back into existence is the kind of thing I'd be both surprised and not surprised by.

Mathilde "Karak Reclaimer' Weber indeed.

Waystone networks are only important to keep large scale runes functioning outside of Storm of Magic conditions, I doubt that runes that have literally been in the Realm of Chaos for 200 years will go out in a week, especially since when we hear of runes running out of power its usually after thousands of years of use.

Well Mathilde did casually name drop Kragg and Thorek.

It was such a casual 'Yeah, of course I'm on a first name basis with the first and second Runelords of the Karaz Ankor.'
first name basis is not as big a deal with cultures that all last names are basically 'son of'. it gets confusing otherwise

but ya I get what your saying

Mathy is moving up from 'always a mess' Akko to 'always knows the answer' Yuko Ichihara

I will remain focused on what we came here to do, now that we know we have a way to force this karag back into reality on our terms. Don't steak Borek's expedition from him to do unrelated things.

It's worth nothing that this is a Karak that isn't situated in the depths of the Chaos Wastes (assuming we can get it back), it is also one were we have at least some hint there are sane survivors. We have no such indication of Dun.

I don't think you're grasping the geography. Hochland is 1000 miles away. Altdorf is 1500. Using horse relays it would take at least two weeks to get a letter to Hochland, three to Altdorf - and that's me measuring as the crow flies instead of working out the road route. The chances of there being a Wizard who is currently idle that has the necessary skills to both a) mess with Waystones and b) travel at ridiculous speeds are essentially zero. So you're looking at twice as long for the trip back, which takes us well over the month mark.

Well! We wanted to give the Protector a good test run, let's see what happens if there's actual living dwarves that have been displaced in time and space still in there! 🧙‍♂️

Huh... Wouldn't Grey wizards on shadowsteeds or Ambers going dragon be really fast?

Just a side comment. Presumably no or very few other Greys have something similar to Mathilde's Mastery for Shadowsteed :V. A whole lotta sore behinds on average would be slowing them down massively compared to her. Still fast, but hey :p.

think about it this way, if it works, we can petition Karak Vlag for aid on the expedition. We might actually increase the expedition's chances of success with this.

If Mathilde does the clog and Karak Vlag is about to pop back into reality, the Expedition isn't going to be continuing on its way until that situation is resolved.

Just curious, how will the Borek/rest of the dwarven Leadership feel about this? Ticked that we held up the expedition to Dum, or more like "a lost Karak is a lost Karak"?

No, Daemonettes are the foot soldiers of Slaanesh. In terms of the Tabletop, they fall in the same category as simple dwarf warriors or quarrelers. Arguably more replaceable.
Tabletop explicitly excludes the innumerable lesser demons that the fluff insists exists, though. Things like Furies and the various predators who aren't much stronger than mirrorsnakes.
Daemonettes are rather powerful demons. They're completely overshadowed by the big guys like Lords of Change, but individually daemonettes will easily kill a human 1-on-1 and have a wider skillset besides.

EDIT: Also, in-setting daemonettes are the sort of overwhelmingly powerful and cleric spirit who starts and then ruins a minor cult.
