So, ah, what are our rough priorities for the 4th month, assuming all of CoS do die by the time 4th month starts?
@Azel, @Crake?

We'll keep a smaller force in Slavers' Bay (of course), and prolly will keep on infiltrating Lannisters' Defenses, but are there any other points of interest left to cover in the last month before the Reconquest?

I just dare to assume we won't be launching any expeditions/dungeon delves in places like the Far North, Snek Cities, Valyria, or PoF just before the main event.
...At least not with the main characters.
.......Which kiiiinda leaves us with dozens of people to assign somewhere :V

See preliminary RAs for the 4th month here.

We can always send people to harass the Brass Ballsack. It is not like the Plane of Fire lacks space for a few more actors.

Hard to say until we've done all we can do this month. We only have rough plans for Westeros, because we don't know what we'll be reacting to if anything goes wrong this month.

Also, we can always assign a lot of people into researching dreamshaping. We just opened like three different paths.

As @Crake said, let's wait until the CoS business is taken care off and we have the first report from Operation Woodlouse. We also need a sitrep from the Iron Isles, a nice chat with Mace Tyrell and see how explosive the events in Kings Landing become. Also check back on the Vale situation, see the progress of the anti-Ymeri coalition and so on and so forth.

  • [X] Plan Pulling At All Threads
-[X] In regards to the House of Mirrors:
--[X] Have Garin called back from the Plane of Earth to organize the sweep.
--[X] Also pull Dany from guard duty and Lyas second body from research duty to aid him.
--[X] All ritualists, workers, guards and people even vaguely associated with the House of Mirrors will be detained by the Inquisition until all affected people and potential infiltrators have been indentified.
--[X] Dany and Lya will use their talents with magic and dreamcrafting to gather more details about the methods used to influence and spy on the ritualists and hopefully to find the vector used for the infiltration.
--[X] The Inquisition is given full authority in this matter and will treat any person trying to delay, obstruct, evade or resist their investigation as a hostile / traitor.
--[X] The Inquisition can furthermore take as many sacrifices from the larder as they deem necessary to receive divinations directly from Yss.
-[X] In regards to the raid:
--[X] Do the divination yourself and proceed as planned.
--[X] While you do the casting, have Maelor brought over to join the raid. It's been a while since the two of you roasted some demons together.
-[X] Have the gem used to suppress Balerions defenses brought to Lya, so that she can cast Touch of History on it to see if more useful information can be gleamed from it.

As much as I would like another update today, @DragonParadox, it's late enough that we can do without one in the interest of you getting some sleep tonight.

Part MMMDCLXXXI: Strength in Strange Places
Strength in Strange Places

Eighteenth Day of the Third Month 294 AC

In the end you decide to pull Dany and Lya off their respective tasks for now to scry and study any secrets that may be found respectively while Garin is given full control of the investigation as High Inquisitor. The plane of earth can wait, he has more urgent business to attend to and so do you. And if you are to hunt down demons you know just who might wish to join you.

***

Maelor is the last of your companions beside Dany and Lya to still have a room in the keep, mostly because he has not been in the Deep for months. It is scrupulously cleaned and aired out by the staff, but still has the faint air of disuse about it, what few marks of the boy's previous presence here timeworn like the carved letter in the bedpost or seemingly forgotten, like the Valyrian primmer on pyromancy that is now a staple of certain Scholarum courses which your former apprentice has long ago outgrown, a place mostly frozen in time, awaiting the return of a changed guest.

It is clear that Maelor's time in the City of Brass has taught him to look beyond even the most uncommon of appearances. He takes to meeting Qyburn in stride. "You're the mind-mage, right? I see what Dany meant when she said you were hard to describe. How much control do you have over that?"

"I am all that I am," the flesh-shaper replies, voice almost whisper-soft, but the pride in it as hard as adamantine. "There is no aspect of my form, however minute, that does not respond to my will."

"Sounds useful," the boy replies sincerely. "I'm satisfied enough just growing wings out of my shadow, but I can see how your way's more thorough."

You can well see how he kept efreeti officials happy and suspecting nothing, but sadly you are not here just for the introductions. Drawing forth the scrying mirror from your cloak and hand it to one of the black knights to hold upright. Though the glimpse you had of the two watchmoles certainly was not much you are skilled enough in the art by now to compensate, or so you think at least until you invoke the magic and see the surface of the mirror turn to midnight black. You cannot see the taken guards, nor anything else around them, you have no sense of how large the space is or if you can translocate into it, but you did feel the spell align properly.

"Magical darkness," you curse, realizing just where the shadow demons had taken their victims. It was easier to create veils against sight than all divination.

Still, drawing the Wayfinder you are quickly able to triangulate the location on the watchmoles... Tolos, about as far from Lorath as you could get and still be in the Empire. Those rumors had likely been patsies then, or an attempt to seed the influence of Abraxas far and wide.

"Relath's gonna want to know," Maelor points out. "It may be your Empire, but it's his city and he's as much a dragon as you."

"His court is likely infiltrated," you muse. It would surely be easier to manage than the House of Mirrors. "Best to bring him here to get the news."

So it is that you add one more unlikely personage to the meeting in Maelor's room, the Governor of Tolos, so furious at the trespass discovered that he barely gives Qyburn a second look once you assure him that the flesh-smith is no friend to the Deep Ones and he had achieved his current form in defiance of them.

Thankfully your maps are good enough that you are able to triangulate exactly where the watchmoles are being kept, beneath a small primate lyceum for young men of Tolosi noble houses who do not wish to associate with 'the commons'. According to Relath he had let them have it on the grounds that it would help the foolish on their path to irrelevancy.

How do you approach the demons' location?

OOC: This is why I wanted to get this up today, because I knew we would not get into any combat or anything. I wanted to reintroduce Maelor after he has been absent from Viserys' immediate sphere for so long.

@DragonParadox Maelor was last noted to have gained XP in the 11th Month of 293 AC.

Did he make any progress towards 15 in the last four months?

Did Maelor, Malarys, Bronn, and Sarelle the Paladin of Tyranny earn any XP from successfully setting up a shop in the City of Brass?

EDIT: Faceless'd, but good to see we're on the same page about XP.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.
According to Relath, he had let them have it on the grounds that it would help the foolish on their path to irrelevancy.
This was a great line. :rofl2:

[X] Approach by stealth through the city, you have multiple ways to earn egress, whether that be going through the ground or simply finding agents of the demons and trailing them into their lair. Either way, you're expected. Unless there's a Balor laying in wait for you, you expect the main danger will be the enemy's prepared ground, better to get the chance to evaluate the threat before you commit to battle.

If there is a Balor, dibs on the whip.

Didn't someone dig up a spell to block teleportation in a very wide range a while ago?
There are different ways to go about it. The best short term solution is probably Teleport Trap. Smaller overall area than Forbiddance, but unlike Forbiddance, the effect allows for exceptions, for the caster and designated allies.

Hmm, we are going to be dealing with Shadow Demons, which means possessions. There were spells to capture possessing demons inside hosts, right?
