[x] A Picnic in the Fields

She reads Mathilde well enough I think it's worth a more her centric setting to even the playing field.

I'm not interested in Panoramia "changing herself for us" - she's irreligious, and that's totally fine. It would be neat if she and Ranald got along, since they're both our friends, but it's not at all a dealbreaker if she wants to stay out of it.

But by the same token, I'm not interested in Mathilde "changing herself" for Panoramia. We have 26 Piety and Transcendent Ranald. We're on close personal terms with Ranald's High Priestess. We were given a holy artifact directly by Ranald. He's our closest and oldest friend.

None of that is going to change if we start dating PanPan, and if it's a dealbreaker for her, it's best to find out early.

I think the issue is that we're not going to change that aspect of ourself for her. It's best to get it out of the way now, before we spend a year in a relationship with her without addressing it, because if she's staying away from the Jade Order because they're really intense about play-acting religious occurrences she really might not be comfortable living around somebody who does the things other people make ceremonies to commemorate.

Neither of them has to change anything about themselves. The objection comes from the implication that they do. Like, I'm okay with the idea of Drinks and Dice as a date choice, but the arguments being brought up in support of it are giving me bad vibes.

Hmm, actually, I'm changing my vote back. Here's why:
She examines you carefully, then turns wide-eyed in surprise. "Wait, really? You actually worship Ranald?"

"We have an understanding. Where do you think I got Wolf?"

"Wolf? Wolf was... wow." She blinks, and frowns. "The God of sneakiness and deceit got you a puppy?"

"It makes sense in context." She gives you an expectant look, and you acquiesce. "Well, it started soon after I arrived in Wurtbad and was looking for a place to live..."

The story of Wolf and Heideck and the shrine to Stromfels lasts until the food arrives, and what food it is.
The justification behind Drinks and Dice was "we should make sure she understands how important Ranald is to us, because that's a potential deal-breaker." But we already did that: we told her about how we discovered a shrine to Stromfels and we brought in two Ranaldian priests we knew and one of them died and Ranald sent us a dog. There's no way we got through that conversation without her picking up on the fact that we are absolutely serious about our faith. Sure, we haven't told her about the Divine Mugging, or the study of the Coin, or how he comforted us when Abelhelm died and he didn't intercede more directly, but I don't think we'd be telling her that at this date either. So, with that concern set aside, I see no reason to not just do something we'll both like.

I don't want to become a god, I want to try and become an urban legend ala apparitions. Turn the coin to protector, do some hero-y things in Stirland and have Ranald credit it to our Dammerlichtreiter persona.

Make people think that an apparition like that exists and see if we actually create something or at least if we can get Dammerlichtriter themed spells to work better.
Eh, the issue is that we're a specific identity. The Dammerlichtreiter owns a particular fief, and all the locals are like 'yep, that's her castle'. We can certainly build up an urban-legend style... legend, but we'd never be generic enough that a wizard could think we were stalking them in the shadows.

Jaws isn't every shark, to give an example.

I guess my point is the same as yours. Neither of us have to change. But we're half of 'neither of us', and just as important as her half.

Well, why don't we try it and see? At what point does a legend take a life of it's own?

Interesting. The way Tome of Salvation has it, it's a particular characteristic of the Cult of Taal to militantly eliminate lesser local nature cults, while the other Cults are much more prepared to let nature takes its course and more passively assimilate them as lesser aspects or just let them hang around as part of the broader folk religion.

Notably, for the river spirits, as they're apparently manifest as immensely powerful fey in the material world, I wouldn't like to be the priest that tried to mess around with them...

While it is true that the Cults of Taal and Rhya are agressive about absorbing or destroying competeing gods so are the other major cults. THe reason, say, Sigmar and Verena, don't do it to nature cults is because they don't compete directly for the same demographics. If the cult of Dahz spread through the empire to Wissenland for example then you can bet your britches that they would eliminate or absorb the Cult of Soll.

And we are still trying to find out if she might be interested in us.
This "can you accept that i have a religion" talk can wait until 3rd date atleast.
And as already pointed out, she knows how important Ranald is to Mathilde.

Not opposed to drinking and dice, it was my original plan, might be fun, but lot of the stated reasons seem pointless.

Maybe if the third romantic date was on a reasonable time scale, but that would be a year or so from now, if this is the first.

Bringing it up first thing is kind of hamhanded, but going a year without doing so is way too far in the other direction.

Panoramia is fully aware that Mathilde is very deep into religion.
Unless you intend to demand Pan also get into religion, i don't see the dice and drinking option as necessary.

Jaws isn't every shark, but every time we see a shark we hear a certain theme play
