Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
"This senior brother may have once tutored a young fellow going through his brooding phase," Liao Zhu said, eyes crinkled in amusement.
Ling Qi is a genderbent blast from the past then.
Ling Qi glanced up, considering the storm. The roiling clouds stretched to the horizon in every direction, except for the south, where they curved unnaturally around the mountains of the Sect, curbed by its wards.
Shouldn't it be except for the north, as the mountains are south of the sect?

All these hints mean is that where ever we go the Barbarians. Attack the caldera, no barbs will escape. Hold the perimeter no barbs will escape. I highly doubt either of these options are the "correct option" They both have benefits and consequences. Yrs has not written a gotacha vote.
I don't share your confidence in choosing to attack the caldera meaning no nomads will escape. Yes, this construction avoids a "gotcha" vote, because there's no "fail" vote, but it still claims a "correct option". The perimeter focuses on the task of capturing runaways specifically. If voting for the caldera will do just as good a job, that means the perimeter's vote lacks the primary distinguishing benefit.

In general, I think we can expect a vote's primary focus to map with the expected benefits, absent qualifying information which we don't have here. Catching nomads is the entire stated point of the perimeter forces, so I think we can expect better performance there if we vote for it, especially since we're uniquely well-suited to it compared to our Green peers.

This is a meeting of low level cloud tribe general's, we weren't able to catch one shishigui general in the underground so we sure as hell ain't catching these dudes in the caldera as weak as we are.
We are good at punching down not up.

[x] Join the group assaulting the caldera

On the last chap I voted for attack.
On this chap I'll vote for attack.
Hopefully, I won't have to vote for attack on the next chap...

Mission control itself doesn't know enough to inform us further than that. We're attacking highly mobile enemies who have temporarily not been mobile.

I doubt this is the first time the sect has tried to capture some nomads or attack a place they care about. And there are a lot of questions that could use answering for example: What skills have been useful in this? Are they going to try to capture people, and if so how. Will they setup tailsmans or something to prevent flight? Or just kill the bound beasts? Is there an effective method to capture them? Are people going to sneak into the site before hand to setup a trap, if so what kind of trap? Will they be say hiding some earth culitvators underground to strike? Will there just be two blobs of people attacking? What are the concrete goals? Do we know how many people are there? Has the site been scoted recently? We have someone there who has managed to inflitrate nomads camps in person before, so do we have any information on what rituals nomands tend to do, or how they guard their sites? This has clearly been planned for long enough to have debate about it, so I would expect a bit more information.

And that's what they'll be doing here

With the same one as last time, in fact

"Divination within the Sect remains troubled and inconclusive," Diao Gen said, shaking his head sorrowfully. "However such sources as we have indicate both the potential for great fortune as well as great danger, and so it was decided that we must strike. However we are not foolish, Elder Yongrui will ensure that we are not overwhelmed by a potential high cultivation foe and if need be, call upon reinforcements. If the barbarians intend to trap us, then they will find themselves trapped in turn."

This shows that the Violet will be staying back for that purpose. Do you have a source that the Cyans will be?

Do you have a source on how many Cyans will be present then?

You're the one who posited we'd have to be fighting them in the first place, and you're the one who said we had a track record of having to fight them in large scale engagements

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence

"...That sounds like there are going to be higher realm enemies in both cases," Ling Qi said warily.

"Indeed," Cai Renxiang said bluntly.

CRX might be wrong but she has said we are going to be fighting Cyans.

And no I didn't say we have a track record of fighting Cyans, I said that battles which contain mixed realms fighting have the lower realms support the higher realms instead of acting on their own. In general we have been the higher realm in those fights but there were a few instances in Forge where we weren't.

Really?

Because most of those fights with higher greens.appear to be Ling Qi fighting those bosses herself as one versus many. The Barbarian Incursion, Spelunking arc, scouting mission, the ambush of the bandits lead by the BINO, the preliminaries of the Sect Tournament, etc.

So I still dont see where you're basing this claim off of

Let alone "theres going to be higher realms present, ergo Ling Qi will have to engage them rather than the Sect Elders and Core Disciples who are explicitly Cyan or higher taking care of them instead in what would be the common sense assumption"

Kinda annoyed by this vote honestly. We weren't given much information and the plan seems to be show up and hit stuff. I know this is a quest and all and are there with the ducal heir, but that seems too limited. In our last missiong, the objectives and roles were more clearly defined and that was basically a 'go poke them with a stick, lol' but with superpowers.
Well, this is kind of to be expected. Last time the person responsible for the operational planning/briefing was Elder Jiao (with support from Guan Zhi), who is extremely experienced at operational planning/briefing and may well have included that sort of thing into his way a little. This time, the higher up responsible for planning/briefing is Elder Yongrui and/or the Core Disciple Diao - neither of whom are likely to be as competent in this area of expertise as Jiao/Guan Zhi (daughter of a long-time commander of soldiers).

Not having clearly defined orders this time around could very easily be deliberate characterization.

The thread voted for an aggressive action last vote. I think it's reasonable to want to see how well Ling Qu does in an aggressive large scale action. Pedal to the metal.

AMENDING my vote to: [X] Join the southern perimeter group

Im sure we'll see large unit actions regardless and I think Ling Qi and CRX will be better suited to perimeter action.

Yongrui was Elder Zhou's second in command, no? I doubt he's incompetent or unskilled.

I can see that, Diao does give off some young master feeling. That said the sect has a standing military and I don't think I'm asking for anything unreasonable. Though, it would give some reasons why the sect isn't winning any battles. It's also a good reason to go cauldren as then we would be under somone with some demostrated skills.

i wish there was an allow cai to choose option
People stress way to much about choosing an "optimal route." As if not getting a 100% victory in every situation is a bad outcome. Even if we screw up, fail forward has been a concept in games for a while now.

Just pick which option sounds cool and go from there.

[x] Join the southern perimeter group
