We should use our minor enchanting to get him a toy kids spy set disguised as regular objects.

That or make him track them down across the castle. Could we get access to the royal cookie jar?

There's an aspect I haven't seen yet to the 'What to tell' vote.

In dwarf terms, we are a ranger, except our scouting also extends to diplomatic aspects. Finding, eliminating or warning of threats is part of our duty, to which we are oathbound (sworn to the empire directly and indirectly via the college). Arguably (yes, arguably, but it's hard to argue with someone elses understanding of their oath), we are oathbound to tell Holzkrug. Also, we joined the expedition both as a seeker (ie private person) and a Grey Magister, and that implies we also became a Loremaster in that role. And a Grey Magister is sworn to aid and defend the Empire, specifically in information gathering and diplomatic roles.

The dwarfs won't exactly like it, but they'll understand, and they'll appreciate the problems of conflicting loyalties/oaths (see the slayer kings). Potentially they will be more careful about what they share, but that's just fine by me. I don't want to get drawn into the nasty bits, I rather prefer swording and superweaponing. If they need to, they can just ask for an oath of silence. (I am asuming we tell them about this conversation.)

Sounds fun, also drinking.

Nice middle ground between "too mathilde" and "too panoramia".

Hmm... how about this as a write-in:

[X] Speak honestly of everything not explicitly secret, including rifts within the Karaz Ankor
-[X] For the purposes of this conversation, act as though Belegar has sworn you to secrecy on the topic of his ire with Thorgrim, and when you return to the Karak actually ask him to do so.

@BoneyM, would this be acceptable?

[X] Do not speak of explicit dwarven secrets; and concerning matters that are "just" sensitive, limit your report to the observations that do not require personal confidence of high-positioned dwarven allies to infer.

The details behind the personal beef with Thorgrim is considered a secret already for the purposes of this vote.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of choosing this option and then keeping things back (like option 3)

Edit: nevermind, ninjad by boney

Of the three options, this one has the least amount of betrayal in it.

While I am actively against romance I would like to see more of humans interacting with Dwarf religion.

Actually it won't. If she does not die in battle Mathilde could well outlive most dwarfs. So to the question of who will come after Mathilde the answer is 'a more experienced Mathilde'. Let's please not assume that spreading around shameful dwarf secrets will somehow make diplomacy better and he worth the risk of said secrets eventually getting into unfriendly hands
The odds of not dying in battle are so slim considering what we do I don't consider that a particular concern. We'd have to survive 200 years of casting magic, combat, and high stakes intrigue to outlive most of the Dwarfs we know. I'm not going to assume as a matter of course we thread a needle that only Gelt and Elspeth canonically managed.

As for spreading secrets- a faultline exists in the Karak Ankor so profound Belegar wasn't sure if what he was doing would start a civil war. And that's before K8P got denied aid. Tensions inside the Karak Ankor are high right now, and the easiest way for the Empire to set them off is to not realize those tensions exist. The fault line is there, and will probably be mended one way or another when Thorgrim passes on from High King, but there is a real risk the Empire accidentally escalates things if the Empire has no idea of the stakes or scope of the problem. I'm not saying tell the Chamberlain 'Thorgrim abandoned his fellow Dwarfs' I'm saying 'There's a lot of political tension that likely won't get resolved for at least a few decades- tread carefully, the Dwarfs are more circumspect about this than we were with the Middenland issue'. This is important, precisely because the only way the Imperials are going to have any context is if Mathilde gives it to them, and that that context is the best way the Imperials have of avoiding giving any offense or inflaming tensions in the Empire's oldest, most reliable ally.

There's nothing to be gained in exploiting the tensions the Karak Ankor is going through, and incalculable amounts to be lost if the alliance between Sigmar's Empire and Karak Ankor is undermined.

Actually, how long do wizards live? Human wizards, I mean. Because Dwarfs lives for centuries. Possibly millennia. Whereas the usual human wizard, even a powerful one, is probably lucky to live past a century.

Or are we functioning on, as chocolote12 put it, "Well, you see, it was mentioned once as a potential option, so we practically have it already" logic where "Well you see, it was mentioned that Gold Wizards turn themselves into Gold once, so therefore this means Golds have immortality for sure (rather than a rumor or assumption about it) and therefore all wizards are expected to be immortal" "Lots of posters have talked about this Gold Wizard thing, over many years and many threads of warhammer fantasy, so it's practically accepted knowledge now."
==============
Also, I'm a bit concerned with the cavalier way teleportation is assumed. In an iron platform (so swimming in chamon) already heavily enchanted to fly. Windherder might allow it, but just doing fixed beacon-towers seems 20x as practical to me.
Well, you see, it was mentioned once as a potential option, so we practically have it already. No need to actually go and take all those research options or whatever, it'll just be ready when we need it. :V
==============
How many ageless human wizards do we actually know?

Because I don't think that we know enough immortal-for-sure human wizards to say "Wizards are ageless by default." Maybe you have some wizards achieve agelessness or a form of immortality. But it is not something to be assumed.

Also? I would super not bet on Mathilde, specifically, living past a century. Because the way we currently act, we'll get ourselves killed within that century. Unless we retire from dangerous stuff, and be mainly a researcher, scholar, and Loremaster of K8P. So even if wizards were ageless somehow, I would still not bet on Mathilde specifically outliving a Dwarf.

This is an unexplored development. We've already seen punch wizard and puppies.

Would be nice to see what Panoramia actually does in her job. And there may be some overestimating on "know something of the soil" there... :V

[X] Conceal matters you know the Dwarves would prefer you conceal
