  • [X] Hells and Spears - The corruption of the Fiends has sipped deep into the lands of Slavers' Bay - and you are left with no choice but to cull it... even if that means working with less than savory elements.
-[X] Tyene, Vee, Melisande, Malarys, Aradia the Huntress, Azema, Chun Ting Lo (Monk 9), Ser Criston Storm (Human Paragon 3/Fighter 5/Occult Slayer 1), Ceria "Storm" (Favored Soul 8/Sacred Exorcist 1), Ser Denys Trainer (Rogue 1/Alchemist 8), Anya the Inquisitor, Morwyn and Tuin - the Drow assassins, 3x Mind Dragons, 5x Guardian Nagas (CR 10), 1x Myrkdreki (CR 15), 3x Umbral spies, 1x Umbral Stalker, 1x Orphne Fey Lord, 1x Asura Upasunda (CR 9), 4x Asura Vayphaks (CR 5),
[X] Into the Black Goat's Heart - the going-ons of Qohor have been a mystery for far too long. With the potential present by the local Fleshforge, and the ominous tidings seen over the last months, you might be left with no choice but to act- But first, you shall see in truth what the city hides these days.
-[X] Xor, Nuri, Garin, Kira Windgraced, Liomond Lashare (Warblade 13), Mia the Inquisitor, 2x Umbral spies, 1x Umbral Stalker, 1x Mind Dragon,
[X] Against the Stars: The efforts of your people have not been unnoticed by the Court of Stars. Even as your efforts continue, they are sure to retaliate - and so you shall leave a force capable of keeping the task secured... As well at stopping whatever further efforts the Fey may decide to try and implement.

[X] Heart of Waters, Darker Tides: With the ever-growing knowledge of the Illithid activities, so grows the worry. You may not be able to handle war with the group present on Plane of Balance alone... Thankfully, you don't have to be. The Marid have proven to be at least somewhat amiable to giving help... if convinced to.

[X] Reserve/Unassigned Airforce: Remain in SD waiting for orders. They can be sent to help with a raid, with clean up in Essaria, or to lend additional support to the Genies, all depending on where they are most needed. And they're a nice additional layer of defense for SD.

-[X] (Assorted) 10x Guardian Nagas, Nirah - Champion of Yss - the Voice of the Timeless One (CR 20).
[X] In Hatred Ancient, a Soul Restored: The former Priestess of Spider-Goddess Lollth, cursed into form of a staff for centuries, has not forgotten the slight of her former Mistress. Her soul may have been damaged too much to simply will her into a new body... But with time and effort, she too can be mended back together. (Progress: 15, Cost: )
[X] Dreamscaping II: Having created a beacon in the dreamlands now you must consider how one might build a road that will endure the ever-shifting paths of that realm (25 Progress)
[X] Fey Lore: Even though they detest the divine, the Fey are closer to the gods in nature than any mortal ever could and in their endless years, they must have acquired much lore on the matter beside. Seek out the Orphne, the Goblin Market and other Fey gathering grounds in your realm and friendly lands to see what can be bargained for. (Progress: 10, Cost: ???)
-[X] Rina (4d6 Progress), Tyrosh Scholarum Branch (+2d6 Progress)
[X] The Crown of Flowers: Without a doubt, this is one of the most potent magical artifacts you ever witnessed. From it much can be learned, even if it is never put on by anyone.
-[X] Attempt to find the connection it holds to the Court of Stars – and further out knowledge of Artifacts along the way. (Progress: 18)
--[X] Lya (1st body) (4d6 Progress), Naria the Loreseeker (4d6 Progress)
    [X] Spell-Crafting
-[X] Research a Greater version of Baleful Teleport [no distance limit, 8th level] (Progress: 16, Cost: ??)
--[X] Lya (2nd body) (4d6 Progress), Stepstones Scholarum Branch (+2d6 Progress)
[X] Stabilization of Sentient Undead: While the process to craft lesser undead has been greatly refined, those who still possess sentience are a different matter. Their state makes the process meant to stabilize a soulless husk impossible to apply, but further research might be able to find an alternative. (Progress 20/30, Cost 100,000 IM, needs at least one sentient undead as a test subject)
-[X] Wyla Drakelis (4d6 Progress), Naath Scholarum Branch (+2d6 Progress)
[X] The Undeath's End: The secret of creation of the ancient and extremely potent anti-Undead poison you received from Faceless Men is lost to eons... Yet one of the greatest poison-makers the world knows is in your employ, and few other races have as much intimate knowledge of poisons as the Snake-kin, and the Drow, both of whom you have access to. Recreate the ancient mixture (Progress: 0/50, Cost: ??)
-[X] Elaheh Marita (4d6 Progress), Quburn (4d6 Progress),
[X] Tireless Steel, by Sorcery Moved: The art of golem-making is ancient indeed... but one has to wonder if it is possible to wring an armor in the same qualities, to create personal defense truly unsurpassable. (Requires the "Layering the Defenses"-Research Action)
-[X] Develop the basic chassis of the Imperial Powered Armor systems - and create the Warden Pattern armor. (Progress: 8/26, Cost: 140.000 IM)
--[X] Valeria the Wondersmith (4d6 Progress),
[X] The Stone of Memories, The Stone of Visions: The mysterious Serpentstone Projector you recovered from the deeper parts of Riz'Neth's city may not look like much... But you have learned quite well how much but a little show before the audience as large as cities could mean for a ruler.
-[X] Research the Serpentstone Projectors, emphasizing the function of recording visual and auditory signals - something that may well be priceless if a way is found to make more of such "recorders" cheaply, and also searching for a way to integrate them with the MirrorVision network - allowing to both (hopefully) make MirrorVision sets cheaper and easier to make, and to store transmissions shown - perhaps allowing for plays and speeches to be replayed in the future? (Progress: 40/45, Cost: 50.000 IM)
    --[X] Riz'Neth (4d6 Progress)
[X] The Mind's Games: The psychological effects of repeated and sustained enchantment on the mental state and brain of the average person (Progress: ??, Cost: ??).
-[X] Velen (4d6 Progress), Mantarys Scholarum Branch (+2d6 Progress)
[X] A Baleful Mirage: You have recently been forwarded a set of spell-scripts and samples by which the Efreeti have been made use of to manipulate the 'Grey Veil'.
-[X] While this may be a technological dead end, studying it will prevent its usage from being as effective in the hands of your enemy and may even be of some use to your allies (Progress: ??, Cost: ??).
--[X] Beryl the Strategist (4d6 Progress), Anu of Sallosh (4d6 Progress), Volantis Scholarum Branch (+2d6 Progress)
[X] Empowering the Herald of the Ferryman.
[X] Checking in on Meraxes and the progress of creation of the "Imperial Steel".
[X] Set policy for all Lyres of Building to be thoroughly destroyed after 2 full months of being in operation.
[X] Continuing to be on the lookout for the Chosen of Stranger via the dead-drops they were leaving for the Chosen of Smith
[X] Grab notes on Lannisters/CItadel off Marwyn
[X] Get the Wildunt's mercenary Fey sorted in

Moonchaser Complements = Type B.

Standalone Wyverns = Type A.

Everywhere you pipped a Moonchaser-class, they come with 4 Type Bs automatically.

I know precision isn't your thing, which is why I find it highly ironic that you've charged yourself with keeping track of something that has inherent qualities that require precision.

I'm going to make a personnel and material asset spreadsheet in google docs one of these weekends so you can just link to the sheet and call it a day...
As it may have become apparent, I just copy-pasted what Goldfish had offered on the matter of the airforce.

And, to be honest, no.
I dont think we need such precision.
Companions, Minions, creatures with cr of 15.
That's it.

All the things that ever will need any form of detailed book-keeping are these alone.

Mechanically, ~90% of that sheet I threw together won't ever matter, it is just fluff at this point, of the "we are defending our strategic locations"-sort.

I can teach myself working with non-SV sheets, but I honestly see little point to. Call me heretic, whatever.

Against the Psionic attacks? No, not really - we are just stopping doing Fleshcrafting RAs, especially given we have no urgent ones at the moment.
General defenses are still going to be pretty damn good thanks to Watchman creatures.

If ya think we should do the "Psionic Defense" RA now, well, look at the list and tell me which RAs you think we could settle down in it's favor, let's have a fair discussion.
If we are stopping our normal flesh crafting RA, may I recommend we give our researchers some low risk ones instead, such as researching applying various SLA to our creatures, there shouldn't be any risk to it, and being able to add certain spells as SLA to our creatures would be useful, especially if the SLA is low level enough, that adding it don't increase CR.

Like I don't think a Hoard gullet SLA would increase CR, and any Forge creature we made with it, would basically have a free bag of holding, although of course unless added to snakes or big creatures, it would be a very limited one.

@Goldfish, @Crake, I'd rather ya two actually decide between yourselves what composition of Airforce we should assign where, still, seeing as your earlier comments didn't have a conclusion.

Well damn, that's a nice harvest.
And it's only going to get nicer, more whales are joining us every month, last month 30 whales joined us, and that was with really low rolls for pod size(high roll for pod numbers, but the pods were at most half normal size.)

If we feel the need to increase recruitment faster, we can also assign people to recruiting more Fire Whales with this option.
Done. Added under economy:

[] Recruit more Fire Whales:
Recruit more fire whale pods, adding to both your treasury and the protection of the pods. Gain 2d6 more pods
Action: Economy
Progress Needed: 20
Cost: 20,000 IM
Did you remember to add in the payment for hiring our mercenaries? We have deployed Forge created mercenaries to watch over some pods, and they should be paying for that, paying for guards is the whole reason they want money.

As far as I remember, the agreement for what they would be paying for our mercenaries, was 10% of the cost of creating them per month.

I don't have an issue with assigning the Type Bs to the Moonchasers like @Crake wanted. It works out well enough for our purposes.
'Kay, I'll edit those, then.
Buh, am busy now, and for the next few hours, so DP may close the vote before then.
I'll just give a heads-up, I guess.

So can we make our own metallic adjacent dragons as well as the chromatic adjacent dragons we've already been making? Asking because I was wondering about creating a Valyrian/Imperial steel dragon like how Adamantine dragons (maybe?) are a thing.

Well, Saenena's life's work was a compilation of knowledge that allows us to make new Chromatic species.
But Metallics are apparently different enough that we can't make them.

So, it stands to reason, that at the very least, it would take us violently dismembering and feeding one living Metallic to the Forge to be able to re-create it's specific variant.
Having the same wide net of "you can make dragon" that we have with Chromatics will likely take a humongous Research Action, with lots of living and dead metallics to experiment upon.
Which is kinda stumped by the fact that the most we've ever found were a scale here and there, Metallics are really extinct.

Also, Adamantine (and such) dragons aren't "Metallics" in this quest, as per DP. Metallics are the 5 base colors that Baggie himself made.
The Adamantine/Brine/Umbral/etc. are the weird interaction of innate Draconic magic that bred true and made a thing. You know, like Rope Dragons are a thing. :V

We have not been making Chromatic-adjacent Dragons at all.

Our Dragons where based on Pseudodragons and Shadowdragons respectivly, neither of which is Chromatic.

Dragons will screw anything. A coil of rope, a pile of salt, a suit of Adamantine armor, their own shadow, a rock, etc.

Zeus wishes he had a Dragon's libido and cross-species compatibility.

Yeah, well, we still can, according to DP, make any Chromatics, and variants of thereof.

I hope we continue on that path. Any new Dragon species not closely associated with the Chromatics or Metallics are coming into the world without a mountain of draconic baggage to deal with. It's almost like a fresh start.

I can see it now, a Dragon getting distracted with a bit of princessnapping causing them to be late for an important appointment and losing out on some prime lair real estate. Then the nearby bell tower chimes the hour, reminding them of their failure.

From there the chain of thought goes something like, "Bitch Queen damn it, late again. There's never enough time. Screw time. No, I'll screw time."

Interlude DCCCXXXVII: Upon Azure Currents
Upon Azure Currents

First Day of the Second Month 294 AC

Daenerys had never been to the Summer Islands but she had heard they were quite a pleasant realm, one in which wars were rarely faught with edged steel from whence the white-sailed swan-ships set out. Even if she had known none of these things she could not have thought ill of the place that gave the world chocolate. Even so, it was no the Summer Islands of travelers' tales and her mother's account.

The small atoll grown layer upon layer by bright coral from the ocean's depths was empty of all but a handful of short broad-leafed trees and raucous sea birds. But the waters offshore were filled with a gathering of an altogether different sort, the sea-folk, gathered, cajoled, and in some cases outright bribed in the hopes of moving north. Her gaze was snared however by tiny flying figures, diving and froliking among the breakers. At first she thought they were some manner of strange bird, but looking more closely she saw something more akin to a hairless monkey with the head of a fish and large fin-like wings.

There had been something in the report about a creature that might serve as a fair familiar for mages inclined to the sea since it could grant one the power to breathe beneath the waves, but she had imagined something more... not this. The triton priests had supposedly helped create these beings, the better to speak to landwalkers. Perhaps they had found another group that would be interested in the potential of the Flesh Forges.

As Dany dove into the water, allowing the weight of her armor to drag her down rather than struggling to recall her swimming lessons, the impression was further confirmed. Rather than dolphins, small or great among the gathered clans, what she saw were strange lizards with flippers in the place of limbs and long sinuous necks that danced through the water.

Kin of some kind to the painted lizards of the Sothoryi jungles? Dany wondered, intrigued as she touched a scaled flank. It was warm to the touch. More like dragons than common lizards then, just as the jungle beasts were. The creatures were called Sea Dancers by their riders she learned, and were quite as clever as dolphins and no less ferocious in defending their bonded riders. Lya would probably be curious where they fit in and Vee as well.

Thankfully they would have plenty of time to look over said beasts. Though hard was the earning of the respect of the clans' warriors and harder still to persuade the merchants to give up the landwalker neighbors they knew to be friendly for strange and unknown lands, Blight's Bane did manage it in the end aided in no small part by the tales of just how secure and honored their northern kin were. Tools of dragonglass forged and hardened do not lie, and though the tribes here had some luck trading for similar tools from the Summer Islanders they were not of the same quality nor in such numbers.

Three Points, Three Kindred, One People Complete (15/13)

Some of the traders would no doubt return to these waters, but for now the tribes headed to Sorcerer's Deep to add not just their spears to the defense of the realm nor only their lore to the Scholarum's records, but their culture to the growing Dragonsong Quarter. Dany could not help but giggle a little, imagining some merchant new to the city seeing a long necked and clearly carnivorous reptile breaching the surface of the water only to then be told that they are not magical at all.

The portal opened bright and through it swam one after another priests and soldiers, scaled mounts and families with baskets of woven kelp upon their backs.

Soldiers:
  1. 263 Sea Dancer Riders [Triton Fighter 2]
  2. 11 Priests of the Merling King [Triton Cleric 5]
  3. 21 Acolytes of the Merling King [Triton Cleric 2]
Arcane Beings
134 Coral Capuchin

Camp Followers: 4,482 Tritons

OOC: Sorry this took so long. I had a lot of background rolling to do to see if any of the local princes would be able to entice some tritons to stay, but in the end they did not so here you are, all three of the southern tribes.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, @DragonParadox.

That's a very nice boost to our Triton population. And they have plesiosaurs! So cool.

Coral Capuchins are so ugly they're kinda cute.

Right, for som reason I thought there were ten for a moment there. You still have ten more of them to look for. Some are in the shivering Sea North of Essos and some in the Jade Sea.
Damn, they're in the Shivering Sea, too? That's a serious Deep One stronghokd, right?
