Thats just...chinese then.

Like, the written form of chinese is the same between all the dialects. This was likely because literacy was propagated through the imperial bureaucracy.

The spoken form varies from dialect to dialect. They aren't anywhere CLOSE to intercomprehensible(there a comedy skit playing on this where the phrase for "is anyone home" in one dialect sounds exactly the same as "did someone die?" in another). And theres the dialect used by the imperial bureaucracy, which everyone learned some of because official proceedings will only be spoken in that exclusively.

@BoneyM so, is there some sort of phonetic element Mathilde can write down in the dictionaries or does teaching low queekish need a few one-on-one/one-to-group actions?

And I like this idea, a lot. We never did much to help Hubert - his desires and skill sets did not align with our goals and methods that much, but I would like to spend an action helping him - iirc, his Magister was the person who helped us with our books?

Hmmmm..... The struggle... I want new characters, but the interactions with the old ones are always so interesting.... and I am quite averse to approval voting in "pick number" choices, because I feel it cheapens the weight of my vote...Mayybe I should make an exception but...

Probably the most immediately useful dialect- High Queekish is only for infiltrating Skavenblight, which would be pretty damn ballsy for any Magister to attempt. And the Moulder dialect would obviously mostly be useful in their holdings, which are generally pretty far from the Empire- Hellpit is above Kislev, and Qrech is from their Darklands holdings. Low Queekish at least gives a starting position for other Magisters to build off of that is at least somewhat useful in every Skaven settlement.

I'm fine with biases, but I really just want to progress through our "social backlog" -- the people we've been living and working nearby for years, who are important figures in K8P, but whom we've never actually spoken to.

One new face per social turn isn't too much to ask, right? I believe in our ability to get one of them into the top four.
