People can argue for Varys' plan not being insane, but to me he was still betting on somehow weaseling his way out of deals with Tiamat and Mammon at the same time, having f!Aegon dismantle the Imperium and killing us and all the Companions, etc. After the Worm has Tiamat and our concentrated forces are using her body as a punching bag, we can afford 1d2 rounds for an offer.
Keep in mind that Aegon rejecting Tiamat was always Varys' plan. For all his daring (going into madness) he wouldn't have bet on that for no good reason.
I don't really regard Varys as having had the best judgement.
If I was a cleric of Tiamat, and I firmly believed the throne was mine by right... and then my uncle and aunt showed up and all of a sudden everything I've worked to build is on fire, and the people who raised me are dead or soon-to-be dead, I'd spit on any offer they made no matter how much of a terrible boss Tiamat is. The offer might be rational, but it doesn't take emotional weight into account. f!Aegon would not be willing to work with us at this stage. It's not a good chance.
But he knows death is not permanent and I'm certain someone who had to work with Granny for an extended time will be happy for a chance to screw her over.
If we go maximum mythic charisma we might have a chance.
On a similar note, @DragonParadox, is Ashara dead yet? Last update you said the Mind Dragon would have killed her by now.
