Why do people look at only stats?
Why do people look at only stats?
and the other half is decided by the narrative. For instance, it doesn't matter how high Gawain's martial stat was. If the vote hadn't been to get him involved in strategy games, he likely would not have spoken up during the meeting like he did because he wouldn't have the same mindset to war.Because we are partaking in a quest that´s partly decided by stats and therefore some seek to minmax profit while somewhat disregarding flavour.
Sounds like a Grade A suicide attempt. The Crystal Heart is a semi-sapient, selective area of effect weapon and shield barrier: if it didn't have a way to defend itself against mundane saboteurs I would be very surprised indeed.Mmm... is it bad that my very first thought when I read about the teleporting Crystal Heart was that that was just begging for some crazy rando to try to hit it mid mass? Like how you hear about crazies trying to deface works of art in musseums from time to time.

Heck, I'd daresay more than half of it is decided by the narrative. Most options we have with dice interaction only appear as a result of the narrative we as the players have built for ourselves, not because of how high or low various stats are.
Also, what profit? What is the point of "winning" in a quest if the only thing you are ever looking as it to maintain high numbers? A large portion of the fun of a quest is the story and journey, not number stacking. Quests are interactive stories with gaming elements. That is literally why this is a quest and not some kind of Capitalism Simulator videogame (unless you are playing Numbers Quest, in which case ironically the people there did everything in their power to not raise their number ).
Ya'll, I reiterate, 19 in Diplomacy is a nearly 20% bonus to a bunch of actions that have clearly hardly Ever if ever dipped below the 60-70% minimum roll success mark, that we have never struggled with winning several rolls by the skin of our teeth with. We. DO. NOT. NEED. More Diplo stat on Gawain.
What we Need is to shore at least 1 of his 2 glaringly Awful Weaknesses, Learning or Intrigue, but in the case of the vote rn(for the sake of expedience atm), Learning.
Let them have their fantasy, escapism is escapism for reason, and with todays world i dont blame them, Some prefer to face world, some prefer escape, but those who prefer to escape were once fighters as well, everyone has different willpower a different scale of strenght they can give until they can no more. so lay off.
...I'm just shilling my reasoning of the thing that we're all voting about like others have done already for Diplo?? This is typically how the versus convos of the Plans in this quest goes.
Can... can we not bring irl political opinions in to this and paint the actions of others in that light? I understand that you may feel this way, view it this way, and understand it this way but others may not, so please refrain from doing so.And im pointing out that this is My Little Pony and quests are escapism, so them going for diplomacy while not exactly good choice is very understandable, If they want to say fuck this far right world using escapism medium, let them.
You do realize we still have to make contact with AT LEAST 2 unknown polities AND 2 known ones, right? We have NO CONTACT with more than half of the relatively close countries.Gawain is going to inherit a stable, thriving empire with positive relations with almost all of our neighbors, and has no real threat of civil war.
C: Gawain, narratively, might want to round out his abilities to be the equal of his parents who, may I add, have forged a legacy that is quite staggering to be overshadowed by.
Well, we did have pretty good advisors so we weren't never really alone, but I get your point. If we are going by Stats, then it only makes sense to get our future ruler as rounded and proficient as possible, rather that excelling at one aspect, and lacking in one other.
Edit: also, consider the fact that Gawain will not be alone in this endeavor. His advisors and wife and children of his own when he has them will be helping him along the way. Unlike us, he won't have to only rely on himself.
...You do realize every single major geopolitical accomplishment of Garrick's reign can be traced back to success in intrigue right? To me learning and intrigue are actually the least important, especially Learning. A good leader should know enough to understand the importance of tech and education, and to listen to his betters in their fields (like Archimedes).
