No but they can blame Seven worshippers, especially if a particularly stupid one tries to claim credit for the act to get the support of other Seven worshippers.
Eh, I don't mind that, conflict with the 7 worshippers seems pretty much inevitable. But you could say extremists will take credit for anyone and anything, I'm sure crazy 7 worshippers take credit for stuff all the time. Just because a random fire happens does not mean bad luck will strike. Tention is already there, a random weirwood burning down will not do change that.

That's unnecessary tension in the internal population, this I agree is something we should not make trouble for Stannis, it's an issue he must address because he owns both sides of it.

Unlike us just taking it where the Old Gods worshippers would see us and our Old God related actions favourably.

Religious infighting is yucky.

  • [X] Public knowledge of the matter will be the bringing of the House of Black and White into compliance with Imperial Law, which is fully true, at this time they are committing no ongoing breaches by omission or otherwise. The Faceless Men do not traditionally worship any proscribed against Gods, but their presence is integral to drawing power from the Faceless Gods' primary domain. Exclusion is more dangerous for reasons which would be cognito hazards in the mind of the uninitiated or untrained to reveal publicly.
-[X] Restricted (Scholarum, Inquisition, etc. but not necessarily Forbidden) details on the the doctrinal practice of idolatry to even proscribed against deities known to inhabit the Lower Planes by the practitioners of magic within the Faceless Men is that it is not true worship, identified by the fact that they worship a Concept of Death and draw power from a universal pool from which all deities with the domain do contribute, a perilous path to power that essentially only guarantees a high likelihood that the very same order that trains such mages has been responsible for eliminating rogue elements for centuries... thus far to terrifyingly good effect, the details of which are startlingly similar to the same manner of the well documented drawing of power from the Concept of Law many in the Scholarum now make use of, most well-known of all being Malarys. Anything else about this arrangement, I.E exact details of how it shakes out or how the class works or really what the true threat could do to those deities if they weren't involved in the system (Void-taint) is strictly Forbidden (Tier 3) knowledge, generally only known by Inquisitors, Lord Inquisitors, General Commissars and other agents of the Crown.
-[X] Public Reasoning for the Irregularity (not exception): They turn such beings' own power against them, mitigating the danger they pose to the world by preventing them from aligning their own conceptual weight with worse practitioner or entities and making the Faceless Men exceptionally good at rooting out their influence, reasoning that ones so devoted to Death in their own manner are effective at eliminating the corruption from wanton defilement of the dead. Less a case of accepting a lesser evil, and more that the benefits, despite the hazards, are too great to ignore and they are genuinely effective at keeping rogue elements who have fallen to dark powers under control.
--[X] Let it be known that it is a highly skill and infrastructure intensive exploitation of a specific association that only functions due to the weight of individual divine agreements by willing participants in the same structure.

Part MMMCCXXXVIII: Seeking Ideal Forms
Seeking Ideal Forms

Twenty Sixth Day of the Eleventh Month 293 AC

What your answer lacks in simplicity it makes up for in thoroughness, or at least so you hope. Public knowledge of the matter will be the bringing of the House of Black and White into compliance with Imperial Law, which is fully true, since at this time they are committing no ongoing breaches by omission or otherwise. The Faceless Men do not traditionally worship any proscribed gods, but their presence is integral to drawing power from the Faceless God's primary domain. Exclusion is more dangerous for reasons which cannot be revealed to the wider public, but they will have to know something about the... irregularity. Best to avoid anything that might sound like an exception in a legal text of this importance. "Would it be acceptable for you to say that you turn the power of proscribed gods against themselves to any who might question the matter?" you ask Dorren.

"Yes," the assassin replies, then with the merest shadow of a smile he adds. "Though I imagine there would be quite the theological confusion when we admit that the same is true for all the faces of the God. All are true, but none are the whole truth."

"Better theological confusion than a legal one," you reply over the sound of your tiny golden assistant quickly scratching out a craft of said law. "Let it be known then that this has to do with mysteries and trials that have passed Scholarum examination..." you glance at Lya who is technically a member of the Scholarum unlike you.

She nods. "I can sign that in, as for internal Scholarum and Inquisition use I think the simplest comparison we can make is to Malarys and others who call upon the ideal Form of Law, or for that matter the priests of Light in Mantarys who make use of ideals of self sacrifice and kindness. It's not entirely correct, but as long as we make it clear that it is a perilous path to power indeed and one that has made them particularly adept in hunting those who stray too far into the darker aspects of Death the reputation the order has garnered over the centuries should keep anyone from trying to imitate them without full knowledge of what they are doing..."

"Or just having the imitators become priests of death in truth," Dany points out. Turning to the assassin she adds. "If it is not against the strictures of your order you could even induct a few such priests, they could help keep up the facade for everyone outside the handful of people with Forbidden Knowledge access who will be told the full truth."

"A shallow understanding," the grey-clad priest replies, his manner once more too distant to guess if he is distasteful of the notion. "Yet as a mask for deeper secrets it might serve."

"I am glad to see access to the Scholarum is already opening new avenues of study to your order," you reply, satisfied at how neatly this is all wrapping up, a far cry from your worries about what attempting to integrate the Faceless Men might be. True there are still those outcasts to consider, but compared to all you have gained here you would call that more than a fair exchange.

I guess I am ambivalent then, Its indeed better to not have infighting. I would like to get the storm god stuff done sooner rather than later though.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

[X] Speak with Darleth the Delver about his fortification efforts

Could we just make it look like the tree moved itself? It'd still sort of be Targ activity, but Stannis can hardly be blamed for not trying to arrest the old gods for packing their shit up and leaving. Especially if we find a way to imply we were surprised when it showed up, or possibly have some treants pretend to be other weirwoods moving towards our territory to imply that tree moving was just part of a greater act.

@Deliste, imho you're making the fake tree out to be a way bigger problem than it really is.
1. For the Yss problem, it would be an issue if people actually used the Storm's End tree for worship. They don't. They're either Seven worshippers or R'hllor worshippers.
2. It would be there for a few months at best after which we can publicly move it.
3. Any sort of protection in the unlikely event people actually go there for worship (this isn't Sorcerer's Deep where the trees are actively enchanted) can be replicated with a cheap Hallow + PfE effect, but the Storm's End tree isn't enchanted to begin with.
4. If this is such a big concern for you we can just leave a Leshy hidden to watch for anyone who might in theory go to the tree to worship or commune.

[X] Have a personal meeting with the Chosen of Smith

Didn't we already meet this guy? If not I don't think this will take long.
We haven't, and he's with Chosen of Crone.
And he's crafted anti-dragon weapons before under Lannisters' request - yet stopped since.

There is a lot of shady shit there, much of which can be a result of a Mindblank. And we have no clue for his motivation.

In fact, in the action-as-written in the MA-plan, we have a whole lot of highly-specific divination to rule out it being a trap for us - or anyone messing via Mindblank otherwise (like the Chosen of Stranger).
[X] Have a personal meeting with the Chosen of Smith.
-[X] Extensively divine irregular points of interest about him and his works - just in case, since one favored by Smith can prepare far more of a trap than a regular cleric.
--[X] Check his supply routes, from where he gets the materials for enchanting - and the people he interacts with along the way, including those he gives the items to, and who gave him the order of Dragon-slaying weaponry. Such spell as Hindsight may come especially in handy if he interacted with someone protected by Mindblank, giving us at least a clue to investigate.
--[X] With Chosen of Crone having been helping him, also try to affect the same general points about her and сompany she keeps.
---[X] Learn the interests and priorities of Chosen of Crone, the people they keep company with - a usual thorough investigation in search of clues for a possible trap.
-[X] If no suspicious activity is detected via divination, meet with him - the focus of the meeting is to set up at least mild relationship with the Chosen, and ensuring he focuses on bigger threats to people of Westeros than us.
--[X] Sharing with him our wast array of Lore on Enemies of All (Devils, Demons, Daemons, Others, Illithid, Fey, Rakshasa, Tiamat, etc.-) is a big aspect of this. There is also the potential of directly sponsoring him (see: Warrior's Chosen) if all goes well...

I seem to reember you guys had some warforged built. Does anyone reember where those were so I can write them up for the front page?
No. We talked about it, never built it.

That said given that we gave Anu a green light and funding explicitly to find better methods to do this, it would be insane if he hasn't used the pre-existing ritual to make a dozen or so of his kind given it was his dream.

Here's an updated character sheet for Anu, @DragonParadox, with some stuff cleaned up a bit and his known and prepared spells added. Since he is a Transmuter, he needs to have two Forbidden Schools, so I selected Enchantment and Necromancy. I added quite a few known spells to his repertoire, since he's been active as a Wizard for 148 years. The spell loadout is just a walking around day-to-day selection. I also didn't go heavy on combat spells for him, since that didn't seem like it would fit his theme.

We had also mistakenly added a +1 Constitution bonus on his belt before we knew his stat spread OOC, but we should have known IC. I moved that over to +1 Dexterity so he would roll it over into a +3 modifier.

Bracers of Arcane Freedom:

Handy Haversack: This backpack is of high quality but appears otherwise normal.
  1. It has two side pouches, each of which appears large enough to hold about a quart of material. In fact, each is like a Bag of Holding and can actually hold material of as much as 2 cubic feet in volume or 20 pounds in weight. The large central portion of the pack can contain up to 8 cubic feet or 80 pounds of material. Even when so filled, the backpack always weighs only 5 pounds.
  2. While such storage is useful enough, the pack has an even greater power. When the wearer reaches into it for a specific item, that item is always on top. Thus, no digging around and fumbling is ever necessary to find what a haversack contains. Retrieving any specific item from a haversack is a Move Action, but it does not provoke the Attacks of Opportunity that retrieving a stored item usually does.
Radiant Earring of Arcane Acuity:
  1. Immunity to blindness and dazzling effect
  2. Convert any spell of 3rd level and above to Fireball.
  3. 3 Charges/Day: 1 Charge(Darkvision 60 ft., 1 hour), 2 Charges (See Invisibility, 10 minutes), 3 Charges (True Seeing, 1 minute)

  1. 2 Pieces: Gain resistance to cold 5; this stacks with any similar resistances you have from your race, class, or template.
  2. 3 Pieces: Gain resistance to cold 5 and electricity 5, which stacks as described above.
  3. 4 Pieces: Gain resistance to cold 5, electricity 5, and fire 5, which stacks as described above. Convert any spell of 5th level and above to Commune.
Ribbon of Disguise: Use the Disguise Self spell at will.

Translocating Boots of the Wide Earth:
  1. Double carrying capacity.
  2. Convert any Spell of 5th level and above to Teleport
  3. 2/Day Instantly teleport up to 10 feet to an unoccupied destination within line of sight and line of effect. The wearer can teleport with objects, up to their maximum load, but cannot bring other creatures.

You will get a general consensus from the thread, but IIRC it was never voted on. That said nobody will complain if Anu did it on his own. The Warforged need a budding community that lives in Sorcerer's Deep for a while before mass production anyway.

Ah... OK I'll have to think how many he made.

So, I have a Questions for y'all D&D Nerds (affectionate nickname).

Question: I have the general consensus that Gods are typically empowered and continuously existed by faiths and prayers. But this could cause them to be affected with the narrative weight of their worshippers if they (worshippers) interpreted their tenets differently even by a smidge.

Others could die if the faiths of their worshippers were to be dimmed. I.E. Yss.

But others, like Bahamut and Tiamat does not fall into these categories. Even if the sun were to die, and the stars shatter... they'll still live on (at least from my perspective).

Now, the Question is: What constitutes such an existence? What makes a god so strong and independent that they dont have to live off their worshippers faiths and offerings?
