That's some pretty decent gear.

The dagger would be a good weapon for Kyla. Those Bracers of Arcane Freedom are better than the normal ones we make, too.

Any ideas for who should get the ring or robes?
Do we use Living Brass items? I thought those were amongst the things we deemed too corrupted, to use for anything but sacrifice.

Part MMMXCIII: Of Plots from Sunrise to Sunset
Of Plots from Sunrise to Sunset

Thirty-First Day of the Tenth Month 293 AC

There is no more to say but much to do in sharing the truth of the Sundering, and so your guests depart, each to their own realm or home, be that a magister's palace, a new-made keep, or a hidden lair hewn into the stone of some little marked island in the Stepstones. Hermetia lingers. Unlike her guards, she is not able to bridge the gulf of two-hundred leagues and more by magic, at least not yet. She had been silent through much of the discussion, though offering her opinions in matters that pertained to Lys and its workings. Yet you sense she has more to say that she would not share with the full company you had gathered. "I would still like to help as we discussed, with magic upon one of the tasks you set your envoys to, Your Grace, but after what I heard today it does not seem like I'm doing enough. I have money, maybe I could..."

"Slow down," you cut her off gently but firmly. "It's probably best to at least sleep on the matter before you make any commitments."

"Assuming I can sleep you mean?" The sorceress' smile is a distant, bitter thing. "Ever since father died, I worried about where his soul might have passed to, but I did not use magic to find out because I did not want to know. Now it seems anyone could be suffering that fate—my mother whom I can barely recall but was by all accounts kind to me, the old jester who never failed to make me laugh at his antics as a child." She sighs. "Starting to wonder if I should have asked for those memories removed, Your Grace?"

"Of course not," you answer, speaking nothing but truth. "Sorrow is not a sin, and neither is doubt or fear. It is how we choose to act that matters most of all, and I trust that you will do your duty with skill and cleverness, as you ever have."

"Thank you." Though her voice is soft, it does not waver.

Although you certainly would not have minded carrying her back to Lys yourself, you are not the least bit surprised when Xor offers to do so instead. From the way his eye-stalks weave in concern and sympathy, you suspect you will not be seeing him for a few days. Hopefully he will be able to help. Hopefully everyone of those you have spoken to today has someone to lean on.

Time does not stand still, even for such a fateful announcement. The moments tick by, the stars wheel overhead, and parchment continues to gather on your desk. The latest report is from the east, from Meereen, where the Inquisition has been making only slow progress in taking root. The Tolosi agent who wrote the report makes it clear that he cannot be sure if that is owed to the usual teething problems of acting in a new cultural context, or if someone is trying to frustrate their efforts. Given what you know of the hand of Asmodeus moving there, you would hardly be surprised by the latter.

Establish Inquisition Base Meereen Progress 29/40

Still, you would rather not rush matters there, not when there are secrets closer to home you would rather scry. Laying down the report, you lean the scrying mirror in your cloak against a wall and seek the Chosen of the Smith. Hopefully you will not find anymore Devils there.

As though summoned by the first words of the invocation, Dany flies through the open window, a question already upon her tongue: "What are you looking for?"

"Alyn Surehammer, crafter of dragon-slaying weapons and hopefully not a pawn of Hell..." you reply as the mirror's surface fogs and then clears, revealing what looks to be the inside of a ruined watchtower or keep.

It is not hard to pick out the Chosen among the company of grizzled hedge knights and free riders. He is the youngest, counting perhaps fifteen winters, but he is also the most confident by far. Although his arms and armor are clearly made with sorcery, as are those of any of his companions, they are not designed to be noticed, carefully forged to disguise the exquisite craftsmanship in every piece.

The fact that the Chosen is living in what one might almost think a brigand's camp, save for the fact that it is far more ordered than one would expect from that ilk, tells quite the tale on its own. He does not wish to be bound to any lord or power. Unfortunately the conversation proves enlightening only to the content of the next morning's meal, as most prepare for sleep and those on guard take their posts.

Dany decides to cast more direct questions into the ether—do Devils hold the boy's strings still? The answer is swift and for once not mired in symbolism. They do not. Even more surprising, Alyn and his companions have been killing Devils of late. Perhaps he had discovered the strings that bound him and pulled.

What do you do next?

[] Perform more in depth divinations (Including Commune)
-[] Write in

[] Leave the boy be for now, as long as he is not dancing to a Devil's tune you have no quarrel with him

[] Write in

OOC: Commune costs XP, but more importantly it's really late and I don't think I could come up with all the questions you guys might otherwise have asked if you decided to go that way.

Hmmm... no mind blank items then. And he's forging something to do with dragonslaying? Don't recall the source for that.

It might be worth it to simply check to see where his creations are ending up, since we'd like to know if we'll be seeing them in Lannister hands. Or forming the equipment of elite members of a resurgent Faith Militant. I think we'd know from Varys if they were being funneled to the Golden Company, but I'd rather we not be surprised by that either.

I am more of the opinion of finding out what he thinks of us, what he thinks of Lucan and the chances of him staying neutral regarding our actions. Other than that not much else. Maybe see where he last heard the Chosen of the Crone go, if she went anywhere at all. If we do meet him I would mostly use it to guarantee his neutrality at the least.

@DragonParadox, are there any other sellers in the City of Brass who Maelor can go to so we can poke around for interesting slaves?

EDIT: Also, has Maelor checked out the Bazaar of Beggars for any good prospects?

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

[X] Perform more in depth divinations (Including Commune)
-[X] What are his opinions regarding Viserys Targaryean and his actions? Positive or Negative? (Mostly to gauge his opinion and for future plans)
-[X] What are his opinions regarding Lucan Longfield? Danielle? The other Chosen? (Opinions on them could help us put together a profile)
-[X] What are the chances he will remain neutral in conflicts? (This will determine whether he is recruitable or not.)
-[X] Who has he made weapons for? Are they intended to be used on Viserys or the Empire?
-[X] Is he hostile to the Lannisters? To the Devils?

Just a preminary plan so for. It isn't much but its what I want to know.

Just had a thought...more like wishful thinking, actually.

What if the Smith's Chosen is working against the Lannisters? It's easy to imagine Tywin trying to coopt a Divinely gifted crafter, after all.
