Mat isn't a priest of Ranald, and gambling is prayer for her. But no drinking if you want to play with greenskins, or guard the treasure.

Because these are the Long Beards that we sort of left, so having a chance to hear their woes and tell them what happened might be nice. Also, one of the biggest holds and the most important ones, even if it isn't quite near the Empire. It's south of the Bretonian Magic forest, accross the mountain in the Border Princes.

Stone and Steel says 'Dwarfs live for around 200 years, as a rule', and it goes on to talk about how rare anyone older than that is.
I always interpreted that as 'Dwarfs are generally killed sometime in their second or third century.' rather than an indication of natural lifespan.

I don't understand why so many posts insist on presenting Ranald in the worst light.

Yes, he is the god of thieves, he is also the god of many traders. Also, he is most pointedly not the god of greedy theft.
Yes, he is the god of the common people, but he also has a decent following within the nobility.

He very much is known for having followers among all strata and most walks of life. He very specifically supports a wide variety of different lifestyles and philosophies. He is not the most mainstream of gods, and people do enjoy being sneaky about their worship, but it's not like his worship is universally despised by polite society.

Telling them she is closest to Ranald would tell them nothing new about her personality. There is no universal church of Ranald, even his followers can disagree with each other.

Uhhh, people? If you wanted Dwarf favors for it, you should have voted to make everything public. Without the general dwarven public knowing about it, the favor stuff won't kick in, I think?

Telling the King and Kragg now is more about them knowing about the possible threat, just in case and for the rest of the fighting in the Peaks. For example, with the grobbi Gods weighing in, they might be more united than usually. That's relevant for the King. And with a God invested, Kragg needs to be ready for pumped up magic denial.

Telling them now is doing the Grey Wizard thing. They'll not thank you for having more worries, even if they will thank you personally for bleeding Mork. Best I can see is one of them (let's be frank, Belegar, because there is no way in hell Kragg does it) names us dwarf friend, but I doubt it.

Telling people in the before vote was about favor, sure. Telling them now is about duty. Do they need to know? I think they do. I don't think the rest of the dwarves or the humans do.
You've already lied to them, so that's not a concern, except perhaps how they might react to being lied to.

Could be, but the section on Living Ancestors seems to imply that old age is warded off by some cause or purpose that would otherwise have taken them before they reach 400+. Dwarf old age seems different to that of humans, as they can sense it coming with apparently perfect reliability and sort out their tomb and their bequeathments in advance. The two combined makes me think that Dwarvern death by old age is psychological rather than physiological.

That's why Kragg is in a constant state of immense dissaproval?

Because he would literally die if he stops being angry at the general decline of dwarfkind even for a while?

In order:
Disclosure: I think we should leave it up to Ranald whether or not to disclose his involvement in the whole affair.
Pre-celebration: I honestly like the dwarves in WHF more than the humans, and for the most part that's also true of the characters involved here.
Celebration: Drinking is mandatory, and since we're guaranteed to be spending time with our familiar I think we should introduce him to some of his larger compatriots. Also, the hoard has to be moved, and since we helped secure it I think we should see it through.
Shenanigans: There won't be any major negative consequences, and we get to bond with the dwarves and torment greenskins -- what's not to like?

It would be nice if we decide to stay in Eight Peaks, to keep Panoramia around for a while. Surely she would enjoy time spent helping the Halflings while Mathilde arranges any human presence.

Informing Belegar and Kragg seems reasonable. They're unlikely to spread it around and it provides some solid justification for our rather big claim there.

Make Mathilde cook because it'll be funny to see her trying to look all-knowing while doing something she's terrible at. Would be even better if she pulls it off, or if she thinks she pulled it off but fooled no one.

Gambling because it's best-worship for best-god. Drinking games because they'd be amusing. Playing with the giant wolf because I wish to encourage her general tendencies to see giant murder-beasts as adorable fluffballs.

Tossed up on Shenanigans because needless violence as a good Ranaldite is bad, but Greenskins. Maybe we can do psychological torture? I mean, we are a Grey Magister...

One of the problems I've noticed with social quest votes is that voters make a choice early and just keeping hammering that button over and over because they want to see their a character they like again and again, without thinking that they'll also enjoy reading about other people.

Think about Grandmaster Wulfhart, who we've spoken to once and left with a nascent friendship that just needs a little more investment to blossom. Think of Skaroki, who was about as friendly as a dwarf can be to a Manling Wizard he doesn't know well at the summit of Karak Nar.

We don't need to see Panoramia (or Ulfgar). It's just self-indulgent when we can instead build relationships with new and interesting characters. Remember that we're seriously on the clock here. After the Citadel there's a fair chance lots of these people are going home and if we don't cement the relationships now that opportunity will probably be gone forever, the weak ties that have been established but not reinforcing fading like mist under the morning sun.

Kragg and Belegar are basically part of the business end of the Dwarven favor system, you know? Imagine it like every dwarf keeping a general accounting of who their extended family owes what, with the records of higher order dwarves overriding any inconsistencies in those less likely to know the full score; as long as Kragg or Belegar are part of the particular dwarven ecosystem we're occupying when we attempt to expend favors, anything they personally know we did that the lay-dwarf doesn't isn't going to be forgotten just because they can't talk about it.

Of course, I don't think we're doing this for the favors either, though that might in part motivate some number of the other voters; I think we're doing it because we want to brag without seeming full of ourselves to the only two people who would believe us, understand what we were talking about, and not spread it around and cause trouble.

Mathilde, as the thread, really just wants to unpack her feelings and stuff with a friend and also Kragg, who is included because we think he is wizard-cool in a cantankerous way.

I think the problem with Wulfhart was that he was not very interesting to talk to the first time however useful cultivating him might be and people are as likely to vote for fun scenes as for long turn gains if not more so.

Can someone explain to me why there's this universal consensus on picking Gambling? It's in like, 80 percent of the votes cast so far and I just don't see the appeal. Sure, Ranald is the god of gamblers, but I don't think right after that giant heist is the right time to be asking for his favor or bothering him with our respects. I think he's pretty good with all the god-power we gave him and we can leave him alone for two seconds. And (while Boney can make a good scene out of anything) I just don't see much of interest in playing dice with random people compared to all of the other options. If it's for synergy with holding a religious ceremony for him, there's a much better synergy in sad drunk Mathilde. Pick that. Just do it. C'mon.
