Telling them costs us nothing, is almost useless to them, and is a source of goodwill.

Please note that if he wanted to (ex: cast Commune and pay its XP cost), Lucan could certainly figure out what is going on. His pet Celestials are bullshit.

That's a good point in general, I'm just kind of nervous about handing people we are going to have to fight and likely kill more weapons - especially ones that interact so strangely with magic. There's also the way this smells like an exp farm for the psions. Getting your mind and soul saved from twisted slavery at the bottom of the sea by the Chosen of the gods, fighting a war against your captors with stolen powers to pay back the debt, followed by going up against the distant and strange servants of the 'evil dragon king' seems like a great way to power level. I'm probably overstating it, but I think it's something worth keeping in mind that these people are our enemies and every advantage we give them is one they'll ruthlessly exploit. It'd really suck to go down like a cartoon villain because we were convinced we couldn't lose no matter how many advantages we gave away to our opponents.
Not saying I disagree about giving away advantages for no reason whatsoever (Artemis only suggested this case specifically because it is also to our advantage if we obstruct the Deep Ones and we are already taking pains to resolve the Seven plot peacefully).

Our biggest obstacles are political and social, not physical. Someone killing Viserys with even an army of mages is a less likely outcome than someone making it impossible for practical purposes to exert control over Westeros. We're talking the Faith-related and ideological rebellions hosted against Aenys and Maegor, which even if resolved could lead to peasant rebellions like experienced early on during Aegon V and Tytos Lannister's era.

These are issues that we can't just "magic away" as easily since magic is basically the cause of the problem in the first place. And we don't even have the defense of "we'll keep the peasants happy and it will be fine and bribe the nobles" because you'll have fanatics specifically trying to poison the well with both even if you have the best intentions. We do have certain advantages that means this isn't a sure-fire loss for us, but it would be a really pointless war to fight compared to actually important things, like Hell.

Right, all the time spent on propaganda would be time missing from foiling hellish, demonish or dameonic plots.

Just don't tell them we recruited one. In fact dont tell them about our psionic at all. That way they won't even think about recruitment. Will this make their lives more difficult? Not really. There are probably have thousands of low-level psionic running around. We already aren't telling them about Jeyne so don't tell them the method and they cant recruit their own psionic. If they do manage to figure it out then great. We can fold them into our system and have them watched for the rest of their lives.

The method of recruitment is literally so niche that they will fail to do so for 99/100 of them. If they get the right tools and casters, then still probably over half recovery attempts will be failure.

I dont particularly care either way. I am quite sure we can rip apart anything Lucan has managed to do to his compatriots, brainwashing included.I am just saying if it is a problem we dont have to tell them that we recruited one. That way they dont know it is possible either. Also either way if he does act against us in any way his god won't save him from the hell we will inflict on him...no really I will send him to the Nine Hells if he does anything that harms our Empire or our friends.

Lucan is not really one to do brainwashing. The guy believes everything he spouts and will simply argue with them and teach them. He has shown ample charisma before.

Right, Lucan peddles Hope to the Hopeless. He doesn't need anything else, just someone expressing desperation.

Oh I am aware of his nonsense. I am just saying we can play that game and far for it we will. Either that or we use that hope against him by becoming the hope people flock too. Of course not his idealized notion that follows the faiths tenants but we can also play that game.

Didn't DP rule that with enough magical modifiers the super high intimdation rollls are sort of fear effects. I am sure we can use that to break any peasant rebellion.

We really might as well tell them everything, including that we saved and recruited a psion, if not the method we used. Why? Because if they fail to recreate the very hard ritual, they will feel compelled to ask us for help saving the psions they find in the future, it's CG mentality. And that'd mean we'd get a shot at all those psions.

It'd also be a good way to drill into their skulls that yes, the phenomenal cosmic power we've accumulated does have valid uses, it's not just meant to oppress the masses or whatever it is they think we do in our spare time (joke's on them, we don't do spare time :p).

So I think learning that Jeyne wasn't a one-off creation and that there are probably a lot more running around by itself made staying to talk worthwhile. That's not the sort of thing we want to find out the hard way.

While I like the idea, please note that it costs us precious staff charges.
