@Goldfish fuck it, thats as much as my life as I am willing to put into defending a lying, raping, murdering, manipulative scumbag like a devil.

Kill em all kids, they'll make great fertilizer.

Im gonna go take a hot shower and try to feel clean again.
I hear baking soda and vinegar enemas are especially cleansing... :V

@zxzx24 I'm getting a sense that you are getting upset about this and I get where you are coming from, your arguments cut to a lot of the values Viserys has, a lot of the themes of this story, which for all the horror and bloodshed is about the universal quality of redemption too. That said I am still deeply uncomfortable with my writing causing this sort of frustration. If there is anything I can do to help do not hesitate to ask.

@egoo, @Duesal, @The crazy demon, @Artemis1992, @zxzx24, @One Autumn Leaf, @Nickan

I'm changing my vote to TNE's, since there doesn't seem to be much interest in the Falxugon.

@TotallyNotEvil Please fix the typo in the first line of your plan? My inner crazy person is bothered by it.

[X] TotallyNotEvil

I don't really get it why you are throwing your vote away when talking with it was winning?

If the vote for the Falxugon was ahead of course there was some interest

@DragonParadox Sandor viewpoint was strange in some ways. We've had an entirely new persona for Bronn while Hound sounds like Ser Richard few years ago.

Also, the way Orphne King chose to get rid of recognition is interesting. What could he win that way?
  1. How was Sandor strange? I thought I kept him reasonably in character and on his arc to being less bitter
  2. As for the Orphne king getting rid of his crown, that was necessary to offering his oath, the idea of a king is incompatible with vassalage

And of course I forgot the most important point while I was writing it...

We need manpower, flinching at increasing our recruiting pool at stuff we've already dealt with is pretty pointless. We can handle Falxugons, and we have more than enough mages who can handle imps.

And frankly if the inquisition gets taken apart by imps of all things we've done something horribly, horribly wrong.

... and just like that my vote went from somewhat-meaningful to another in a pile :(
I won't be able to respect our hiring decisions if we decide this Falxugon is "too dangerous" without even talking to him.
You see, the thread - and Viserys - are afraid of him, because Viserys is Falxugon of the story. We tempt and we prod until other party becomes as good as enamored with us and our views.
No one scares conman as much as another conman.

[X] Plan Omni-Vote
-[X] Speak with Zherys about the political situation in Volantis while also sharing what you have learned in Heaven's Shore.
--[X] As a mental note, you plan on reaching out to Zherys more regularly. While he has gone a long way isolating himself thus far you have found that you would have gone mad or bitter to the core by now without stalwart comrades and friends by your side to take some of the burden from your shoulders, and at the end of the day your only true enmity with the man has been no shortage of ambition upon either side of the equation. With that resolved all that remains is a ruler among all of those across Essos who you have always respected if not trusted. If there's something else to be had there, you will discover it, and bind him close as any other come to it, this month or the next.
-[X] Have Dragon Pens freely shared among your Governors and important officials, albeit with a clause, that no more shall be made, nor left in any way without protection, since they are an important resource. They are also sentient beings, and are this to be treated well by their new partners.
--[X] Ask Varys if she would like a Calligraphy Wyrm of her own.
--[X] Afterwards, take a day off with your friends and family
-[X] Speak with the Harvester Devil
--[X] We will get it's measure, through exercising the full weight of our magically enhanced social skills and all the magic we can bring to bear, to determine it's potential loyalty before making any decisions about recruiting it.
--[X] Do not try recruiting the Imps - after having thought about it, they promise to be too unreliable to be of any significant use in your service.

For anyone interested in recruiting the devil. Frankly I could go either way but if anyone is interested then here it is

Never bring up morals in the story again?

Every time it seems like were in danger of maybe making a moral decision the thread fear shits into the well of discussion and poisons the ideas forever.

It happened with the cultist, and when Lya bothered us about sacrifices its going to be a long uphill battle to step up our recruiting action on devils.

Eh, I need to go. This dredged up a lot of bitterness apparently.

Because it's he only difference between our plans. I don't really care about the Falxugon, I just included that part in my vote for others. Since the interest didn't seem to be there, I'm moving over to TNE's version.

Y'all are welcome to use my old version.

That hug rating I just gave you is nowhere near enough. I understand where you are coming from, I've had moments when I wanted to burn down the very idea of morality debate in the thread, but I can't do that it's too much a part of the story and of the characters. If I ever get to the point of not being able to write morality in this story at all then I will know the story itself has reached the end of the line.

The best I can do is to be careful and gentle in approaching matters of morality until maybe we can get back to a place where we all can talk about it freely without bad memories.

One can hope at least.

I remember whole new worlds you opened with Tyene interludes and Lyas' world bending thoughts. I remember giggling while reading Glyra and Bronn chapters, at the same time looking for some bad signs in the first.
Maybe it's just tons of different viewpoints that blurred my eyes, or that he's just that weary, but I don't read Sandor as someone new in his chapters.

That is fair and very useful criticism, thank you. I will try to make Sandor's voice more distinct. I think part of it was that I pushed myself a little to get the perspective though. The interlude was not primarily motivated by showing his inner thoughts

Dude, I'll be gentler than TNE, but you've got to get your head on straight. If even a mention of something morally questionable bothers you this much, that's genuinely concerning.

The discussion this afternoon barely even hinted at anything related to morals. Actually, even that might be a stretch. There was some concern over trustworthiness of the Devil. That's pretty much it, I think?

I don't say it's bad. May be he really thinks that way and we have option of getting him out of this worldview where he throws his life away for one chance at getting to his brother. Or if could be, he refuses his Resurrection when that fight finally ends.

I thought Sandor was actually pretty spot on myself. He's never been the most emotive guy, and I think we've done a pretty solid job of inoculating him against shocking and/or amazing occurrences, so it makes sense that he wasn't particularly expressive or vibrant.

@DragonParadox, so just taking a moment to lay out what "governors & important officials" means in regards for who is given a Calligraphy Wyrm:

1. Governors
  • Anyone who leads a city, anyone who is in charge of a major territory, etc. If they are in charge of a swath of land that's notable enough to be on the map, it qualifies. With vassals like Riz'Neth their territories aren't clearly defined but are nonetheless significant enough. This also applies to the vassals who have yet to properly establish their provinces of the Imperium, like Amrelath and Yrten. If you want me to I can write out a big list for you.
2. Important Officials
  • High officers in the Legion, Inquisitor Lords, the leaders of the Silver Eye, officials in the Scholarum, our most important administrators, and our older researchers like Siduri and the Arcanums etc. (the newer ones like the Kyton and Qyburn can be with us a few months before they are granted their own pens).
