I don't want the Falxugon, but I'm not actively opposed to it. I just don't have a dog in that fight one way or the other.

But...

Maybe we can roll the next few votes into a single omni-vote, @Crake, @Duesal, @egoo, @DragonParadox?

Start with Crake's to visit Zherys, then roll on to Duesal's to distribute Calligraphy Wyrms, then finish with egoo's to speak with the Falxugon? Since we're coming up on the end of the month?

That would work yeah.

If we speak with it, people will doubtlessly jump for the shiny.

I would never trust anything it ever does. It's literally a Temptation Devil, what the fuck guys?

Erynies, as has been said at length, are a tremendously fortuitous confluence of skills, personality and history that are a perfect fit for what we want.

Non-familiar Imps are negative value, and a highly competent Falxugon is just a Falxugon I want to use in one of our sacrifices which take a big bite out of it, because it's a highly competent enemy.

Okay so we have gotten the ice resistant trees correct? And next month when we are going to the Opaline Vault we are buying plants correct? While we are there we should get some crystal trees/underground growing trees.@egoo

I seek understanding of its character. If such proves too troublesome, by all means - larder the thing.

No one says we have to recruit it no matter what. But I like cleverness bent to our purpose. Could be an aide for Malarys, someone to call when looking over Shaitan and other Infernal pacts, the way for easier communication with the hells, the spark that entices more Devils into deserting... If worth it. I want to see.

One thing to keep in mind here, and in dealing with outsiders in general but here in special, is that it's not a scheming bastard because it's a Falxugon.

It is a Falxugon because it is a scheming bastard.

You also don't let the professional tempter temp you. Just talking to it means we are at least curious, and that's all it needs to make an all-too-reasonable bargain.

Roles don't define a devil's personality. Their personality defines their role.

And his role is "swindle and tempt".

We'd have to double check and go over virtually everything he does for us.

Negative value.

Okay, per DP, we can mash the various plans together to help finish out the month more smoothly.

Here are @Crake's, @Duesal and @egoo's Calligraphy Wyrm distribution, and @egoo's Falxugon interview (modified by me), all rolled into one plan.

[X] Plan Omni-Vote
-[X] Speak with Zherys about the political situation in Volantis while also sharing what you have learned in Heaven's Shore.
--[X] As a mental note, you plan on reaching out to Zherys more regularly. While he has gone a long way isolating himself thus far you have found that you would have gone mad or bitter to the core by now without stalwart comrades and friends by your side to take some of the burden from your shoulders, and at the end of the day your only true enmity with the man has been no shortage of ambition upon either side of the equation. With that resolved all that remains is a ruler among all of those across Essos who you have always respected if not trusted. If there's something else to be had there, you will discover it, and bind him close as any other come to it, this month or the next.
-[X] Have Dragon Pens freely shared among your Governors and important officials, albeit with a clause, that no more shall be made, nor left in any way without protection, since they are an important resource. They are also sentient beings, and are this to be treated well by their new partners.
--[X] Ask Varys if she would like a Calligraphy Wyrm of her own.
--[X] Afterwards, take a day off with your friends and family
-[X] Speak with the Harvester Devil
--[X] We will get it's measure, through exercising the full weight of our magically enhanced social skills and all the magic we can bring to bear, to determine it's potential loyalty before making any decisions about recruiting it.
--[X] Do not try recruiting the Imps - after having thought about it, they promise to be too unreliable to be of any significant use in your service.

Welp, 10:1 odds that we recruit it if we speak to it.

So I'd rather nip that in the bud.

[X] Plan Sensible Omni-Vote
-[X] Speak with Zherys about the political situation in Volantis while also sharing what you have learned in Heaven's Shore.

---[X] And maybe play fetch with Balerion
-[X] Mark the Falxugon and Imps for sacrifice.

@DragonParadox Would the Old Gods like their imps flavoured with anything? Perhaps blood-sauce from daemon worshippers?

They are like chips; Fattening, almost useless to actually sate oneself with and can never get enough.

I don't care too much about the Falxugon. We can maybe work with him, or maybe not, but I don't think we can ever work with Imps.

The vote will be up overnight, though, so you have plenty of time to present your case.
Unless it's dominated, and thus is immensely lesser value, how would we ever trust a Falxugon?

It's been tricking people through written contracts for thousands of years.

How many of y'all even want to recruit the Falxugon? I'm not interested, but will go with the flow. If the desire isn't there, I'll just nip that part out of my plan.

When are you going to bed? It's late for me, and I think this is around the time most people start getting off the thread.

edit:
God fucking damnit. Where was all this reticence when I tried to point out recruiting it was a bad idea?

Contract is a formality anyway. That was shown in that Erinyes interlude on the City of Brass. If they find loopholes, a falxugon certainly can.

Want loyalty and/or mutual self interest to be the binding, if such can be pulled off.

That said, people interested seem to be in the minority, so..
