[X] The Foreigners: A bunch of Neighponese Qilin had been invited to this particular party in the interests of "furthering international camaraderie and cooperation." While they're all the same race and nationality, their backgrounds vary wildly, from the children of military officers to the scions of wealthy merchant houses. It's even rumored that the Neighponese Ambassador's child is present, though it's difficult to pick them out of the crowd of scaled equines, each of them dressed in finely embroidered silk garments. Disconnected from the intricacies of Griffonian politics, Gawain is hopeful that they are likely to treat him as just another foreign noble...assuming he can breach the language barrier. He's been taking lessons in Neighponese, but he's never tried to communicate with a native speaker outside of his tutors.

At least at the moment, I'm just worried that the loner may be too high risk, high reward.

[X] The Loner

you mean a mysterious femme fatale esk griffon early similar to the one his dad met years ago at a party much like this one where he didn't want to be at that made everyone scream changeling while this new on seems to be actively watching the crowd? WHAT COULD GO WRONG?!

If we assume that both or this latter instances/are changelings, then this suddenly takes on a far more sinister optic of predatory grooming, which makes me suddenly feel very uncomfortable about letting our son (especially as he is a minor) take on such a risk, even if the grooming isn't sexual in nature (although I'd suspect that changelings that decide upon such a course of action of grooming a minor would persue that logic to its most terrible extent, both to grasp greater influence and for a steady food source).

I mean, it's unlikely they would send a inexperienced child changeling to make themselves feel better about such an action. (Assuming a hive is behind changeling activity/infiltration.)

I can only hope that we can see the signs if that is the case.:(

...i think i know whats going on with loner girl and if im right ima sad.

im betting she has family being held hostage by maretonia. Best case its just extended family/friends worst cause its direct family, possibly her parents.

@Gmerguy, I hope that your theory is closer to the truth than mine.

EDIT: Because there is at least an assumption of good faith and even a potential happy end to such a narrative.

My theory is that she could be from disgraced noble family, like let's say Brochards, wich would explain some things like her being at the ball because she is a noble after all and she doesn't want to be noticed because of her families reputation.

[X] The Scholars

Voters picking a friend solely based on potential romance, even if it might be a trap... I don't know why I expected anything else.

And yes, she checks pretty much all the boxes on what someone with a profile on Gawain would do to get his attention.

Well, with the exception of her being a crystal pony for pity points, but that might conflict with engendering romantic interest and it'd be hard to slip in as a crystal pony noble.

Personally i don't want this to turn into romance. What Gawain need is a friend for life, not potential love interest. We/he can find that later.

[X] The Loner: In a corner, sitting by herself, is a young She-Griffon, obviously trying to avoid attracting attention to herself. From where he stands, Gawain can't tell if she's shy or simply content to people watch from her seat in quiet isolation, but she certainly doesn't seem like the type of Gryph who's eager to suck up. She might make an interesting conversation partner, if nothing else.

lets see the tally

Edit: well damn foreigner and scholar are now tied.

[X] The Scholars: While the Archimedes Institute lays claim to the finest young minds in the Empire, that does not mean that one cannot find learned Griffons outside of it. A number of the more scholastically inclined noble heirs have congregated on the balcony outside, discussing the latest developments and discoveries in their fields of academic interest. Most of the children here wouldn't be able to keep up with such learned youngsters. But Gawain has spent years as Archimedes' personal protégé, and is one of the most well-educated Griffons in the Empire. A discussion of mechanics or natural philosophy would be a welcome change to the usual topic of noble politics at gatherings such as these.

FRANDS

Sad griffin needs frands.

I am thinking about voting foreigners or scholars.

I am thinking about foreigners because more than half of my friends are, and I got a boyfriend oversees.

Scholars, because I am thinking of !Science! hijinks.

[X] The Scholars

Adjusting my vote according to my earlier plan.
Somewhat disappointed we're going for the mystery girl, but it's expected.
