Those random event rolls, another 18 ouch.

18 (To be Continued in Rumor Mill)

Come on, we just had a plague outbreak and freaking kelpies raiding our merchant vessels!

What's bothering us now?

*laughs* An ironic bit of symmetry there, as the Crystal Empire of canon really did use Griffons as guardian statues, though that was more of a sight gag with them taking the place of lions. So we basically took a small visual joke and then made it an actual thing.

We could make pearl a liaison with the crystal empire

Why are you all going with gardening? Our dragon daughter is the regent of the Empire she need to work on diplomacy not on gardening.

The Crystal Ponies love you. That's not an exaggeration. After Elva started printing out posters, having select Griffons and Diamond Dogs give rallying speeches to select crowds of Crystal Ponies, and drawing attention to the numerous acts of charity you and your government have been responsible for, your popularity amongst the inhabitants of the Crystal Empire, which was already fairly high, goes through the roof. While this likely also has something to do with the massive amount of funding you've been tossing at them this year, Elva's work has certainly made quite an impact on the hearts and minds of the Crystal Ponies. So much so that some have reportedly started erecting statues of you and other Griffons as "Guardians of the Crystal Ponies".
Can we make "Guardian of the Crystal Ponies" one of our official titles? It really does work for us since they are our protectorate.

Their investigations bear fruit, as the mountain in question does indeed prove to house a significant deposit of Orichalcum, the only such deposit known to exist outside of the one already being exploited within your borders. To complicate matters, it seems that, while the average Yak may be unaware of this, the leadership of the Broken Horns Clan is certainly aware of the nature of the "cursed mountain", and the value of its mineral bounty. While they are at present incapable of mining and shaping the Orichalcum within their borders, the simple fact that they have possession of it gives them a great bargaining chip to be used in any negotiations with you, Neighpon and their fellow Yak clans. A complex situation to be sure.
Yak-Owned Orichalcum Deposit Identified, New Options Unlocked.
Yeah this could be a problem. We have a very good relation with all the Yaks because we are known to favor no clan over the other and respect them all, after all we fought beside all of them! That is very unique and very valuable.

Now one clan has something we really need and we have to both get it from them fairly and do it without upsetting the balance between the clans or looking like we are playing favorite with one of them.

[x] Pearls of Wisdom: She shall follow in her brother's footsteps, spending her days amidst the tomes and scrolls of the Royal library, familiarizing herself with the sciences and the arts, and imbuing her with a head for numbers. +Learning, +Stewardship, -Intrigue

Not really because that is what they declared all Griffons as. If we tried to take it as an official title it is us trying to take all the credit instead of giving it to the people who earned it through blood and sacrifice.

Also can some of you guys please explain why you are all taking Gardening. Like there was no reason given for any of the votes it was just put there with no arguments for it at all. And it seems like people are just randomly following it. Like I said our daughter is Regent which means her main job is going to be dealing with people that want to get to the heir that she is ruling for. If we want her to have the best chance she needed to have diplomatic training and intrigue which board games give her. Gardening should only give her stewardship and maybe some learning but not what she needs to keep control of the Empire and ensure the Imperial Family stays in power during its weakest moments when she is needed.

She's still a baby for a dragon, let her have some more fun first. She won't even be a possible regent for at least a few more decades, she has time to learn

This isn't when her stats are set she is growing at the normal pace of everyone else she is not a baby dragon anymore. She will live longer but it is pretty obvious that she is growing at the same rate as her brother. As for Regent, she needs to be ready as quickly as possible because anything can happen she is also aware of her place and duty to the empire and the Imperial Family.

Who's to say gardening couldn't help with intrigue? Gardeners are often overlooked, and private conversations tend to happen in secluded places. It might not necessarily be as good, but Stewardship is also a good choice for a regent, anyway.

There's also something to be said for letting our kids have different hobbies, and the mental image of a huge dragon carefully tending a bonsai is certainly appealing.

Except she is not a gardener she is the Imperial Regent. Regents main job is to deal with the political issues that arise from having a child ruler. So Gardening does not give intrigue at all it give stewardship and learning. Stewardship is only useful if she is trying to bring about improvements. The Regents that try that tend to get screwed over it is better to have her prepared to deal with maintaining control of the court and the power struggles that will be a part of her reigns. And doing things only to be different is a foolish move. They are going to have overlap no matter what happens and it is our job to prepare our children for their duties and the real world. That is why they are being placed in the public and civil service once they get old enough because they need to gain experience and knowledge on how things actually work.
