I keep telling you. We are far too much alike the sort of Walder Frey and Roose Bolton to discount them as allies out of hand. They are pragmatic people with very few scruples and a healthy amount of self-interest. All it needs is to convince them that our way is a good way for them, and they will be our staunchest supporters.

....Want that Roose Bolton talk now. Just Roose's blank expression to a pragmatic person is worth it.....Man being the bad guys doesn't look that wrong. Viserys, Walder Prime and Roose Bolton having dinner together and just talk.

Is it bad that I keep wanting to rip lines from Dr Who?

Thinking on it, I really want the opportunity to say "You will find the infinite planes to be very small indeed, when I am angry with you"

Very dramatic.

Nonsense, of course, the infinite planes are freaking huge, and hiding form Viserys is pretty easy, once his attention has been dragged away

Ah got it! What do people think of a greater curse that basically means "subject is under the belief that all curses they are under, they have successfully resisted"

Possibly suboptimal in all occasions, but I do rather enjoy the idea myself :).

But what I really want is for Viserys to use the word "chatty" in the next update

She's thinking about them the wrong way.

The old God's are... A people god?

They are, or were people. They wanted to stick around and mess with the living world for... Reasons.

To protect their descendants, their species, fear, knowledge, ect, ect, ect.

It's part of why their theology is so sparse.

They aren't interested in controlling humanity besides making sure it and they continue to exist.

Of course they have their... History, their moods and grudges.

A single unified dogma of their beliefs and history? No, no that does not exist.

Which means we should totally make one!

If he wins we will recruit him and I refuse to take no for an answer

They do however have a rather difficult time judging their long term self-interest, the Freys are public enemy No1 in the Riverlands and no one will bat an eye at Freys being killed left and right and Roose had about half the North plotting against him and IIRC one actual ally.

Actually, half the north supported the Boltons just fine, especially while Roose was still at the helm. The real cracks only started to show when Ramsay took over.

However, the Boltons had perfectly fine allies in the Karstarks, Umbers and Manderlys. Part of the reason why I consider this whole "everyone hates the Boltons!" thing is ridiculous.

To be fair that might mean that you can't really make a unified belief system without convincing some percentage of the Old Gods to agree with you.

Wut? Of these three only the Karstarks are loyal to Roose and Stannis still manages to turn the Karstark infiltrators against Roose, the Umbers are only loyal because Greatjon is a hostage and the Manderlys have "proven" their loyalties and thus are not hostage and will march against Roose the moment Davos returns with Rickon from the Magical Island of Unicorns and Cannibals.

I honestly don't know anymore.

Okay from what I understand in the show the Karstarks and the Umbers were loyal, the Manderlys were neutral (honestly they didn't show up till after the Battle of the Bastards) and there were a few other houses loyal to the Boltons. In the books Karstarks were technically loyal to the Boltons (they end up screwing the Boltons, maybe on purpose hard to say,) , half the Umbers were loyal to Bolton while the other half was with Stannis and the Manderlys played being loyal but were ready to fight them as soon as Rickon was found. The only houses whose loyalty isn't in question are the Ryswells and Dustins by virtue of family ties. The rest are described as "begrudging". And do not get me started on the Mountain clans.

Getting the later canon right is really a chore...

I understand that HBO had cut out a ton of minor characters, but seriously?

Northern politics is a mess and it sorta makes sense why its a mess. But to unravel it is difficult. I had to look at wikis after reading the books to get a grasp at what was going on in the North much less the rest of the Kingdoms. I don't blame them for cutting parts of it but the nuance is kind of lost with how much they did cut.

The Umbers are only in the show from what I'm told, also the Manderlys wanted to murder them very throughly, he was just patient and wanted to catch the whole bunch instead of just one guy.

[X] Tell her that the Old Gods don't have a priesthood and thus no physical repository of lore. Even the Green Men of the Isle of Faces are only guardians of a sacred place. Think Fiery Hand, not Flamekeepers.
-[X] Her best chance to gain the lore she seeks would be the same way the Old Gods faithful do it. Meditating before a Heart Tree and trying to commune with them that way. It's not prayer, the Old Gods neither want, nor appreciate that anyway, but you understand if that would be skirting the line a bit much in her opinion. If she wants to try it, they are a bit more chatty at the Philosophers Tree then elsewhere.
-[X] She could also talk to a Lotus Leshy, who kinda serve as kinda priests in some kind of way in SD. (And warn the Leshies beforehand to keep their petals shut about certain people sitting in certain trees.)
-[X] As a last resort, recommend her some books about the faith in the library.
We can also drop an Air of Nobility spell on the Lotus Leshy ahead of time, then Mind Blank it for good measure.

Also, you should specify that she speak with one of the Advanced Druid Creature Lotus Leshy. They have Wisdom attributes of 27 and are able to cast 3rd level Druid spells, so they'll not only be more able to notice Melisandre's attempts at manipulation or prying, they might also garner more respect from her as fairly powerful outlets for the OG's power.

BTW, where are our Advanced Druid Creature Lotus Leshy? I know we grew a bunch of them, but I can't find them on the front page.
Never mind, found them, but there is an issue with their numbers. I thought we had more than four? We're going to need to grow some more, because I"m pretty sure we have a couple assigned to New Lyceos and we voted to send five back to the Riverlands with the Lads.

@Duesal The caster level for them is wrong, too. It says they cast as 4th level Druids, but it's actually 7th level, with access to 3rd level spells.

It's a fucking mot and grot. We don't need to put social buffs on the leshy that way.

Also fuck me if she does or doesn't know about him. The leshy can keep their own mouth shit and she can ask us.

We can swear her to secrecy just fine. Who's Rhllor going to tell if he doesn't already know?

Actually what are the odds that the Tyrells have sent someone to the festival or they still waiting?....Man even Walder Prime went to us first.

The front page is anything but up-to-date right now.

Remind me over the weekend and I'll have time to scour the quest for all the Leshys and Treants we should have. I'll update the numbers then.

EDIT: I don't even know if the XP on the front page is correct. Did DP ever add the XP from our last fight?

My impression is that the Tyrell ambition has yet to abate. They want a Queen. They want it bad. They want it REAL bad. In canon it was almost fucking comical how badly they wanted it.

@bigbow uses this to barely exaggerated effect in Purple Days. They will go to nearly any lengths to get it.

I think even without the prospect of Lya, which Viserys' relationship is known to be "lovers" at best, and it isn't as if he's married her in a public display yet, people can tell that there isn't a chance in hell of getting a royal marriage inside of a couple generations, much less one to the reigning sovereign.

That, and they're fucking Tyrells, treacherous curs, kill them all!

*clears throat*

Carry on.

I'm not sure if the XP is up to date on those who didn't get level ups. Actually, Rina's is still showing ??? in the XP space from when I updated her character sheet and didn't know here new total. Looks like DP just pasted it directly in.

I don't think we should use magic here. She can always just ask a different leshy later about different stuff.

Though I'm hoping Brendyn will do something g halirous before that.

Also, the Old Gods are not technically gods, they do not need to be worshipped nor do they have the vunrability to belief about their nature's.

I think they are a hivemind with significant weight in Dream, contained and supported within weirwood trees, made of (ghost?)fey and the souls of dead mortals.

Old Gods is very much a misnomer imo, it implies belief-vulnerable, worship eating, self-aware barrels of magic.

"Dead people and fey hivemind" is much more useful to convey what they are.
