  • [X] Hold Your Ground!: You've slain tens of thousands of the enemy and taken comparatively few losses yourself. You've yet to commit the Knights, and there is still plenty of ammo and fuel left. This is your best chance to halt the enemy, here and now. You won't get a better set of circumstances. Continue to hold.

[X] Pull Back!: Blow the charges, trigger the avalanche, and use the opportunity to retreat. You've done well thus far, but it's only a matter of time until the other feather drops. You've used up your traps, and the sinkhole has been filled in with the bodies of the dead. You'll lose more soldiers if you stay. The nearby city of Lanner has been preparing for a siege for weeks. It's stone walls are strong, and it's storehouses full. You shall make your final stand there.

Hmmm... I want to hold our ground here, but at the same time... Retreating a ways also sounds tempting...

Like, this situation is dire enough Im considering just lighting the mass of corpses in the diamond dog pit on fire to provide warmth, visibility, and be a hinderence to the enemy since theyd have to figure out a way to get through it. Doubt the enemy would just parch right through the fire, and the smell of burning would definitely get to our forces... Unless theyve already lost all sense of smell from the cold.

I just dont want to get to the point where wed have to catapult the flaming corpses of our enemy covered in dynamite into the middle of the enemy should we run out of ammo. But should needs get to that point...

When we get through this, because I refuse to believe in possible ifs, smelting down all that armor should be useful.

I'd rather force Sombra to show his tricks now when we can still disengage (if with losses), than force our first encounter with all his supernatural horrors to be at a city where we can't escape from. If we settle for the siege, we either force him to withdraw or we die. When we don't know exactly what he has in his arsenal that's a very risky proposition, and far more dangerous for the state of the campaign as a whole than us fighting on here while our position is still tenable.

We can we pull back we get to fight from even better prepared positions. The city is at the exit of the pass to get to the rest of the Empire Sombra most deal with it. He can not go around it or ignore it because it is blocking the way. It would also allow us to set up more traps and defenses you know the only things that actually gave us the advantage in this fight. The pit and traps are what won that fight not our army.

You do realize the city is not that close to the pass it's a two day travel roughly for the enemy he could easily avoid it if he so chooses which would force us into facing him on his terms since we must protect the rest of the empire. And the pass still gives us one huge advantage he can't use his numbers.

We still have all our bonuses. We can stop them here.

I'm a little suspicious: yeah, the dice have rolled our way, but it feels like we're being pinned in place and fed easy targets.

We've seen lots of earth ponies ... where's the unicorns and Pegasi? I'm concerned that we may be being outflanked ... we should send out scouts to check for enemy movements ...

from what I remember the crystal empire was made by earth ponies, Sombra killed all Unicorns, few that there were as threats to his power, don't know if pegasi were that common in the empire either, though sombra probably either killed them or the fled by flying away, though this is from the comic/cartoon and may be different in this version.

If we go to the walls, there's a good chance they won't count for much since we don't have any idea what or where the abominations are. If they're designed to be siege-breakers, then we risk the city getting overrun before we have any idea what to do. I really wish we could do some scouting to be sure they're not planning to try and flank us somehow.

In addition, we need to remember when we retreat and Blow up the pass... Split the enemy army if reasonable. It would be easier to deal with 2 smaller armies then one Very large one. Once we can regroup, we can hopefuly smash the one on this side of the pass before it re-unites with the one on the other side.

I really hope that the first wave were nearly starved to death civilians, if not we have to BURN all corpses ASAP. (good job with the flamethrowers guys, made me eat my words of caution till now)

Yes it is the city is at the entrance of the pass. We are in side the pass at the most narrow point. Sombra cannot go around the city because it is both blocking the way and would leave him open to get hit from behind. The numbers are still counteracted because he is still fighting in the pass when he attacks the city. We have used up all of our advantages where we are. The next attack is going to cost us a lot. Better to slow them down then bleed them in a newly prepared battlefield instead of trying to match morale with a unfeeling horde.
