Oh no we are going to be killing as much of his army as possible. We are not going to kill him this war. He is going to push until his forces are spent them go back to his territory to rebuild for the next round. This is going to be a series of war unless we roll so high on a confrontation with him specifically that he is defeated personally. He is going to be the danger on the boarder for a long time until we get strong enough to beat him in his home turf.

Yea I honestly prefer that makes a nice story! Pretty much we're the empire the crystal empire is the chaos wastes and Sombra is Archon although how exactly will he gain more forces once we kill this one? Either he will just summon a bunch of dark magic beats or use those mind control powers and force his entire population into mating season.

wow look at all the crits. especially the scouting one. you have an army of 100,000? well lets see how well it survives an ambush, and by ambush i mean preset mountain charges setting of landslides and avalanches.

if we role another nat 1 we might get evil celestia & luna

ehi, i said that first :p(a few pages ago)

[x] All of them

By the way, i find the idea that we might have to kill tens of thousands of innocent AND mind controlled beings pretty horrifying.

If Sombra ever shows up in person we know what EVERY ballista, cannon, molotov, flamethrower, arrow, yak and knight will be aimed at.

This turn was full of high rolls and it seems we'll need every last one of them if we want to win.

I don't think we'll lose the first battle, but unless Sauron Sombra is REALLY overconfident we probably won't end the war this fast.

Maybe once Sombra is busy we can send more agents to the south, if we're lucky we could find some possible ally beyond the crystal empire and force Sombra in a war on two fronts.

...You sure you wanna know the answer to that question? :drevil:
LET ME GUESS! Once we're about to kill Sombra and all his abominations... Surprise Tirek steals all his magic (after he already had a few alicorns and dragons as a snack)!

For the record I chose Orichalcum precisely because it's a generic fantasy metal that has been used so many different ways in many different works. I wanted a suitable name that didn't tell you exactly what it was right from the get-go.

Additionally, on the subject of what the abominations are made of...remember when I referenced the comics? Well, Sombra's origin story is that he's not a regular pony, but an Umbrum, a creature of living shadow. The other shadow creatures were imprisoned, and used Sombra as a, pardon the pun, Trojan horse to destroy the Crystal Empire and free them from their imprisonment.

Sombra had no idea he wasn't a Pony for years, and when he found out he was really some kind of monster...he didn't take it very well. Naturally he did wind up taking over the Crystal Empire, but he didn't really appreciate being used by his "brethren".

This is where things diverge from the "Canon".

Sombra agreed to free the Shadows if they agreed to serve him for all time. They laughed in his face.

Then he straight up vaporized one of them and they stopped laughing.

One genocide later, Sombra had a lot of dark magical essence on his hooves, and it would have been a shame to let it all go to waste...

Long story short: abominations in the shape of ponies are a Frankenstein assemblage of Crystal ponies, empowered crystals and Raw Umbrum matter, and the eldritch beings pulling his carraige are the "perfected" results of his experiments to create "docile, controllable" Umbrums.

He also straight up ate a few of them to absorb their magical power and add it to his own, so....yeah.

Like I said, you rolled a 1.

But that is only the beginning. Amongst the enemy are numerous...abominations. That is the only word that can be used to describe what your horrified agents say they saw. Twisted parodies of flesh and living shadow held together by crystals emitting a sickly glow. Each one is the size of a mountain troll, and visibly crackles and sparks with arcane power. You can't even imagine what such beasts are capable of.
Huh, is it wrong if the first thing I thought when I saw the Abomination pic was "That's kinda cute."?

Also.

He has complete control of his people. So yeah he will force them to breed. Also this is the army he has pressed into service. He will still have millions of people back in his territory. We as an example have about 2-3 million people in our Empire. Sombra would have a similar ratio to us because he still needs a support base for his Empire and Army.

So pretty much we're dealing with my something on the level of warhammer fantasy chaos daemon prince is what I'm getting here.

Fair enough although with what are glorious quest master told us we're desling with a equivalent of a Warhammer Fantasy Daemon prince.

if we can stop them here we're going to fortify the hell out of our southern boarder to the point where I'm hoping it will be the iron curtain of this world. And by that I mean a massive fuck off wall built into the mountains bustling with so many guns that even the hardest, toughest, and foolhardy of foes will pause and think before trying to attack it.

Cannons inside of the mountains that diamond dogs dig tunnels for so they can pop out of anywhere and can't be destroyed by a sudden surprise attack and could be pulled back in and the dogs could then recover the hole to protect them from counter bombardments.

Man, the more you go on about sombra, the more dire this situation feels.... Well, while it may be tough, Im going to trust you wouldnt throw us into the deep end without some way of coming out of this.

So pretty much we're dealing with my something on the level of warhammer fantasy chaos demon prince is what I'm getting here.

Sounds like an apt comparison.

I just thought of an interesting advantage we might be able to take. This army is all mind controlled right? Even the Umbra are "docile and controllable" that could mean Sombra has to direct the whole thing by himself, no officers he can delegate to.

That means he has to stick to simple tactics he can direct himself as opposed to us who can have a whole bunch of people in lower positions managing thing more closely. It's also possible that he can't split his forces since he has no one else to command but him, he needs to have this super strong 100,000 man juggernaut because he can't break it up effectively. If so we can effectively outmaneuver his forces since our can break off and reform where his can't.

A tyrant made vulnerable by his need to control everything and everyone, while a righteous leader is stronger because he has trusted people ready to follow him. A bit of poetic justice if I say so myself.

"you rolled a 1 so you know fuck you fuck logic fuck anything you though right its time for chaos and death by the bullshit magic juggernaut that has black magic coming out the ass when ever he sneezes"

i believe thats what you meant to say right.

Hey, you guys chose hard mode remember? In the post-Discord Era, the time where warlords like Sombra are a dime-a-dozen? You thought this would be easy? I told you I was inspired by A Dynasty of Dynamic Alcoholism. If it was easy it wouldn't be worth doing!

Yeah expect this time we don't have the power of dues ex machina like the elves or god dam Sigmar to save our ass.

Well the answer is clear.

If we cant have magic anyone whose an enemy wont either.

Time to go full dwarf and get anti magic fields going if we win this somehow.

If we lose run into the mountains. Maybe devolve into demigryphs in the mountains.

Guys i honestly think if we want a chance we should see if the Orichalcum can help us here we dont know the properties of it and it just might help us against magic should GM be merciful or we can just make better everything at the very least.

You know why don't we drop the mountain on Sombra?

Like go fortify our end lure his army in and when he comes to flex at us we blow the mountain and drop it on him?

with the Warhammer Fantasy comparisons being made, I remember that we are a empire that just got done fighting a war to make ourselves unified and with a basic understanding of gunpowder facing a unholy creature that slaughtered and enslaved what is essentially a entire subspecies to fight for him as well as controlling horrible monstrosities that will probably make many soldiers go insane, and the icing on the cake, we don't even know if this guy can actually die, since as Questor has been making this as logical as possible (which I would like to say good job so far with the quest btw) why wouldn't our resident Sauron have his bullshit Pusdo Lich Phylactery just in case of his untimely "demise" hell he might just become a problem for us, for the rest of time or in more fantastical and legendary terms "for as long as your family line lives I shall hunt you" or something like that . in summery time to get ready for the long haul boys and girls (also I know that everyone probably already knows what I am saying, but seriously putting it into context, wth right)

The problem with this is that we are out of time to make it effective.
