Gaemon: "Look, you guys have a theme here."

Robert: "What do you mean?"

Gaemon: "You gotta have one foreigner on your Small Council with a dubious reputation and a mysterious past."

Robert: "And you're that man?"

Gaemon: "I'm the man."

Robert: "...HIRED!"

Gaemon the spymaster... that would be hilarious. Especially considering that by that point our spies could swarm the keep and no one would be suspicious.

....That sounds brilliant!! Gaemon is obviously a master spy and Wizard. Gaemon has a grudge against Viserys right? Why would he then try and set a war up right? Could of just relaxed but went against Viserys. Obviously he will help against Viserys right? :D

The point of acquiring samples would be to grow our own via the power of SCIENCE.
A lot of those plants, Flame Cloves included, need special environments to grow. I guarantee that DP would require us to use one or more research actions to overcome that, so it would likely never get done considering our other projects on the waiting list.

That's not to say I don't want them, just that they're not likely to amount to anything but a curiosity.

The Golden Desert Tree Sap, however, would be immediately useful if we could find it. That stuff makes Summoners like Vee much, much more dangerous.

We could consider hiring out research actions. The Flame Cloves sound like they might be able to be grown in the Plane of Fire. They could be one of Amrelath's staple products.

Oh I know how to play it too. We are Gaemon, member of the "Fuck Viserys" club and man about to sell out Varys. When Robert inevitably ask our story we talk about our (fake) life, our catching of magic, how we trained, what we fought. We can talk about Aedon, our friend, and erstwhile King of Lys and how we were his spymaster and wizard, and ham it up so that we look like a mourning vengeful man. We offer our services and then boom spymaster.

I'm hoping that Varys didn't keep everything in his head and that he has records of correspondence/incriminating evidence he's compiled on others somewhere. Ideally somewhere we can direct the Small Council to after editing its contents.

Maybe not add the old friend of Varys. We are framing him for murder and working with devils. Add we were Aedons spymaster and did his magic stuff. Everything else is perfect.

If we had a set of Titan's Tools with us, we could completely seal off Varys' chambers with stone walls completely filling the corridors leading to them. It wouldn't stop anyone from reaching them, if they're willing to break through or use the necessary magic, but it would muddy the waters and make Varys look even more suspicious.

Something for later then.

Cramming 2d6 worth of fire into one bullet is the stuff you give your elite warriors. (Yes I still want to make DND space Marines)

I would like to see if it works on... Hm. Searing firebrand?

That could be fun. Also highly highly dangerous.

There are two new opennings, so Gaemon becoming a Grandmeister equivalent would be a funny twist.

Unrelated, we should probably send someone with a Wayfinder to try to dig up what documents Varys kept on site, I don't think we properly ransacked the room either. A contingency to destroy records is a bare basics thing, so we should try to move on that.

Ransacking the place wasn't really in the cards considering all the other stuff we wanted to get done and having to go off to try to capture or kill Varys with limited people to multitask with to begin with.

Also as it stands, we might not even successfully capture or kill him, so the goal was to implicate Varys in some kind of anti-Lannister duplicity (killing or making off with their pawn on the Small Council) and make life at least marginally more difficult for him regardless of our success.

If we can't catch him for some reason, we could harass him relentlessly, Summoning monsters of various sorts then using Baleful Teleport to send them to attack him. Even if it's just to trigger his wards, or force him to remain behind Forbiddance effects, it would be a considerable drain on his time, resources, and ability to act.

Or maybe we'll get lucky and he will inadvertently lead us directly to Illyrio's hidden bolthole on the Plane of Shadow.

Besides Varys, Ser Alliser had made it clear that the Grand Maester had been among those who counseled your father to open the gates to the Lannister hosts. Give the rumors that he is Tywin's creature on the Small Council and always has been back to the time the Lord of Casterly Rock was Hand, you can well believe it.

A Storm of Swords, Chapter 37, Jaime V.

We learn here apparently that Varys counseled against opening the gates to Tywin. Though considering it is coming from a source who in the books never would have had cause to bring it up, you're saying Alliser was either mistaken in his apprehension here, or had better information.

And honestly going by the ambiguity of the books and your going with the stated "Varys is a Blackfyre supporter" theory, you might have just changed things so as to make things clearer in hindsight rather than making Varys' motives even more confusing and nonsensical than they already are.

Off topic, but also on topic, but also off topic...

...err.

Anyone else notice the topic of Pycelle's lessons are on the Blackfyre Rebellion?

It's almost as if serendipity is some kind of spurned lover of Viserys, because a lot of the events happening whenever we visit King's Landing or Westeros in general are quite... topical.

Fortuitous or precipitous.

Eh, it could be the hot topic of the day, since there is another Targaryen growing in power at a prodigious rate right across the sea. The shitbiscuit is probably really, really tired of lessons about Targaryen follies by now, like a fanon HP characters learning about nothing but Goblin wars throughout seven years of Hogwarts education.

Yeah that is kinda strange.... Its funny but strange to me.

Is it weird that I want Viserys to give a better lesson on the first Blackfyre Rebellion to Joffrey as Varys? Don't know why but I find it funny.

If he's learning about the Blackfyre Rebellions then what he's learning about is invasions from Essos into Westeros, invasions with the purpose of unseating the "rightful King". Pretty damn important for a prince of the realm considering the current geopolitical situation and the fact that we're conquering everything in sight.

So kinda like being told "Targaryens are bad at being Kings and suck and are poopie" all while Dread Sorcerer Viserys Targaryen and his Legion of Doom are all anyone can talk about these days?

It makes Pycelle's lessons seem a bit ridiculous otherwise?

It's probably already pretty obvious to people who regularly interact with him that Joffrey isn't going to be the sharpest tool in the shed, so they might be trying to hammer a few important points into his skull.
