I really want the flamethrowers but the logic dictates that we will have to take care of the problems caused in our new territories by useless king that we will kill in the next turn.

Now, all we need to do is determine if's this is on the food tech tree. We're already traveling done the Mushroom section and the Seafood section. Maybe, trade with foreign nation(species) will reveal concepts to get us started on the Deserts Food Tech Section.

I can imagine the ponies trying to steal the art of making snow cones, only just discovered they have other wonderful desserts and then come to an agreement to help them produce snow in exchange for a trade agreement.

@Questor Since this is a D&D-ish world, do we need to keep some troops back to defend against monster attacks? If so, the Wood Stalkers would seem ideal for that.
Doubtful he had to accelerate his plans because we came to the throne. A predecessor was also someone who didn't rock the boat or change the status quo. That is someone you want if you're trying to claim the title of emperor. You don't kill that and invite an unknown variable into your plans.[X] All of them.
