So, hiring all for them would drain our reserves in two and a half turns or so, assuming no other income or expenses. And yeah, with the rebels thing, we could let go of 800 or so worth of them (say crimson and woodstalkers) after two turns, need be, and stay cash neutral. The disadvantage of spending all the money is that we're going to need it to rebuild, and I'm not sure how soon until post-war Aquelia will be solvent for us. At least we'll all but be undisputed ruler then, who's going to contest it, wingbardy?

if he loses the coming battle(s) we pretty much own aquelia and we can engage him while he sieges the capital of wingbardy. There is no way this is going to last longer then this turn without us losing the battle to lift the siege.

We are makeing enough money per turn that i doubt that we are going to have any problems rebuilding with the added income we get from aquelia when they join us.

Can you give estimated prices for the hypothetical action []support rebels, and how much rebuilding could cost afterwards?
we already have supported the rebels (Cost: 400) and aquelia will pretty much join us if we manage to break the army in the coming battle (thanks crit + bonus*). Only thing left is the rebuilding

-Fluent in Treason: Brochard's taxation policies haven't been popular amongst his subjects. Should he fail to deliver a victory in Wingbardy and acquire it's fertile lands, he risks facing a revolt. Your spies are still present in Aquileia. Have them contact a few of the more openly resentful nobles and see if you can get the ball rolling on that whole "rebellion" thing, as well as lay the groundwork for a transfer of power once Brochard is out of the way. Cost: 400. Time: One Year. Reward: Increased chance of Revolt against Brochard, Less risk of opposition to your taking the throne. Chance of Success: 50%

Required: 50. Rolled: 95+13(Personal Intrigue)+50(Omake Bonuses)=158 (Nat. Crit!)

Aquileia's nobility and peasantry promise to swear fealty to you in the event of Brochard's defeat.
Well, that certainly simplifies things, if we hadn't gotten that crit, it might have been a bit harder to conquer Aquileia.

Is anyone thinking about how much we are also going to have to spend our new territory in Aquileia and its costs though? It probably isn't going to be cheap, though it probably is going to be offset a bit by the new tax revenue we gain, and probably whatever is left of Cyrus's treasury which we can add to our own.

I want to leave off the fisher-gryphs - do we even have a river or coast near the scene of action? - or the Crimson Company/Black Pikes (who both seem kind of specialized to highly mobile or highly defensive fighting). But then again, both those make solid line units. The flamethrowers are $$$$.

...If we had flame throwers, bolt throwers, and black powder, they won't know what hit them.

If we win here, it'll secure our future. Thus, now is not the time to be stingy. But now is not the time to waste cash needlessly either.

upgradeing farming in the regoin will be the first step (undergroud + fishfarms) i think and also hunting down all the monsters we can find.

I doubt he has anything left in the treasury.

We only have those on our boats. We've never built mobile ones.

    [X] Captain Kingfisher's Marvelous Mutineers
[X] The Wood Stalkers: Experienced Archers/Scouts that specialize in Forest Combat, they have years of experience hunting Timberwolves and Feral Diamond Dogs throughout Griffonia. (Numbers: 200 Warriors, 300 Archers)

[X] The Black Pikes: A unit of heavily armored and stoic Gryphons skilled in the use of long thrusting spears, ground combat, and phalanx warfare. They're not very mobile or good in an aerial battle, but when defending a spot on the ground they're nearly impossible to dislodge. (Numbers: 500 Pikes)

[X] The Crimson Company: One of the most (in)famous mercenary companies of the Northern Mountains, the warriors of the Crimson Company fly into battle with nothing but steel claws and a coating of war-paint. Almost suicidally brave and determined to win glory in battle or die trying, their lack of armour gives them a significant speed advantage over most opponents. (Numbers: 500 Gryphon Berserkers)

[X] Captain Kingfisher's Marvelous Mutineers: Before Brochard started constructing actual warships, he forcibly confiscated several fishing boats from coastal settlements to serve as makeshift patrol vessels. Naturally this didn't fly with many of the local fisher-gryphs. One former boat captain by the name of Gerard Kingfisher led several of his fellows in a daring raid to steal back his boat, along with a shipment of weapons. Branded outlaws, they now make a living as privateers and pirate-hunters, offering a special discount to anyone asking them to raid Aquileian naval vessels. (Numbers: 2 Caravels loaded with 300 angry sailors) Cost: 600 Gold
[X] The Troll-busters: These eccentric exiles of Feathersian nobility are unusual even by mercenary standards. Wielding strange and unwieldy mechanical contraptions that spew streamers of fire like draconic maws, they've made a name for themselves burning down swathes of monster infested forest for the highest bidder. Despite their pitiful numbers, they charge absurdly high rates for their services; apparently those "flamethrowers" aren't cheap to operate or maintain. Still, they would doubtlessly be a valuable asset in battle. (Numbers: 4 Flamethrowers) Cost: 1000 Gold

Yes we do
Military

Royal Army
: Professional soldiers, paid and supplied by you. All have at least a brigandine for protection. 500 soldier battalions cost 200 gold each to raise or replace. Additionally, Royal Army soldiers have an upkeep cost of 200 gold per every ten thousand soldiers.

Royal Army Morale: 60/100 (Slightly Above Average)

Royal Army Numbers: 15,000

-5000 Warriors: Armed with a sword or hand-axe and shield, these Griffons make up the bulk of your army.

-3750 Polearms: For keeping your enemy at arms length or taking down opponents larger than a Griffon.

-3750 Archers: Griffons with bows and some arrows. Not much else to say.

-5 Mobile Ballistae: Massively oversized mechanical bows that fire bolts big enough to pierce through tree trunks from vast distances.

uuuuuh not to be a nag but shouldn´t we have another 2500 warriors to get to 15000?

it would it would be better to hire all of them, but we need to check that our enemies having bought them as well and that they will double-cross us when they have the chance

I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be seeing these merc groups as options if the other guy already bought them - he'd want them to be with his army.

Tally so far

[X]All of them.
I guess might as well go all in, the more mercenaries who kill the enemy and are killed instead of our own men, the more our own army is going to be left standing.
