Not like we care that much we just need a heir and she can do whatever after the kid is out of his formative years

Says you.

On another note @Questor , how would the stats of our wife affect our rolls? Half of their stat to rolls? Third? One with better stats/modifiers on the given task rolls for an action?

How would offspring stats be rolled?

I'm torn between adding half her stats to your rolls or having her serve as a "hero unit", that can be assigned to add her rolls to certain actions. If you pick miss Montefeathertro you'll get an extra military action, an extra stewardship action from Bronzeclaw, etc.

Actually from the looks of it our guy is in love with mistery Griffon.

He's not in love he is curious. He knows very little to actually fall in love with her.

She'd be good for binding Wingbardy but it would no doubt cause Brodchard to declare war. While we probably are going to have to fight them at some point, I'd at least try to talk things out/fight when we are better prepared (namely being able to dump a load of spies/saboteurs in their back yard).

The third choice is the worst of the three. While she is a intellectual she is also almost guaranteed to lead us into a war. You need to keep away from antagonizing our rivals for a while. We should love to bind the free cities more towards us. So that helps with the first choice.

Hey guys how about we discuss the mystery Griffon and any other avenues instead of locking us into into a decision we might not be able to take back from the get go? Or at least wait till next turn to see what all our options are and what the backlash will be from our current actions will be?

A mystery woman who we know nothing about. There's also nothing in the giant list of candidates that indicates she's even a part of any nobility. we know what she look like and apparently not only did none of the candidates mention meeting him they also apparently didn't match up the description.

[X] Candidate 1: Gabriella Montefeathertro
She appears to cover our weakest base and has some political connections in the league which might be useful.

[x] Candidate 1: Gabriella Montefeathertro

She gets us better relations with the free cities. She is the best to cover our weakest stat. She also has strong which will help any children.

[X] Candidate 3: Genevieve Talonuelli

Gabriella sounds like a great partner, but Genevieve is the risky but rewarding path.

And I like to live dangerously.

We chose the most likely character to not get into a war. We are the Merchant King not the Warrior King. Let's play to our strength not our weakness. We can't afford a war right now. We still have a lot of issues in our own territory. That means we can't deploy our full military against our enemies. If we did we would leave ourselves exposed in our people undefended.

I would like to point out though that candidate number 3 never sent in a request for marriage and has been stated that her father might very well decline our request should we ask meaning we might gain nothing except a possible war.

I would go as a hero unit with their own actions as I find that it makes the spouse/hero unit more of a a character with their own strengths and weaknesses. When they are just added to the PC Stats they can just become the equivalent of a perk that talks not a character in their own right.

[X] Candidate 1: Gabriella Montefeathertro

she shores up our weakest stat and I keep thinking shes Gilda's ancestor which leads to all sort of funny alternative episode in future equestria during the Griffin brush off
And since Aquilea's king is suffering from Biccus Diccus Syndrome, there is no way that Duke of Wingbardy - the father who seems to be doing his best impression of a Mother Hen - would ever marry her off to someone acting like a brute in the diplomatic channels. So we don't even need to pick the third candidate as a stonewall move.

As much as my heart break to not marry the pretty nerd girl and let her have a husband who is probably the only person in the world who is her equal in scholarship... Gabriella is the better option.

She covers our biggest weakness in stat by getting us a loyal high level general, furthers reunification by bettering relations with the city state and adds better genetics to our line.

Maybe we can become friends with her post reunification? offer her a spot as a court artist or scholar? I really want to be friends with her! she is practically a griffon twilight sparkle! Plus she would be a great backup learning advisor for us.

We could also get lucky and find a male ally to add to our court and council. If we look for some nice we could arrange a match with so of the other candidates.

She's not going to run away or dislike you right off the bat. Not unless you do something to make her feel that way anyway.
And considering that she 'hid' as a mercenary for years and our past as a merchant needing guards + backstory:
Your name is Garrick Golden-Feather, King of Griffonia, and the only known living descendant of the great Griffon Emperors of old. At least, that's what everyone's been telling you for the past few days. You were just a merchant, moving goods between the canyons, caves and forests that allowed your people to hide from Discord. Your parents had done the same, before they'd been killed by brigands seeking to loot their caravan. You'd carried on the family name and business, after hiring some mercenaries to help you avenge their deaths.
It would be incredibly amusing that it turns out we actually hired the mercenary company she was part of at some point.

Cue facepalm (and laughs from her) as we make the connection between the mud-coated fight-happy swordswoman that guarded us through troll country and our bride-to-be.

Plus it would piss off the other major power on its borders who has been much nicer to him (I.E Us).

I think we can handle that.

Ready to put that diplomacy 18 and Attractive trait to work guys? we got a lady to charm!
